AirESP32ace v0.1.2
Launch and tracked-flight updates now run on the ESP32 over Wi-Fi, even when the Mac companion is closed. Install the matching companion and firmware together.
Changes
- Device-owned NASA Artemis, Roscosmos Soyuz MS, and SpaceX Starship launch updates, with exact-mission tracking, stale-data protection, completion retention, and persisted request limits.
- Device-owned tracked-flight runtime and a fix for the Tracker-entry stack overflow. Estimated aircraft positions are labeled explicitly.
- Reliable USB launch/configuration replies; launch synchronization preserves tracked-flight artwork.
- Firmware-update Back and Install controls remain visible when disconnected. The device illustration no longer has the extra center icon.
- Removed the cropped heading above launch QR codes; SCAN TO WATCH remains below the code.
- Inactive Moon/launch artwork and the unused map-render copy are reclaimed before space screens allocate their artwork, including during background weather refresh.
- Matching, ad-hoc-signed macOS app with bundled renderer and firmware, and pinned firmware dependencies.
Downloads and installation
- AirESP32ace-macOS.zip: Apple-silicon Mac, macOS 15 or newer. Extract and control-click the app to open. It is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.
- AirESP32ace_280926_v01.bin: application-only update at offset
0x10000; existing configuration and stored assets are retained. The companion can install this over USB-C. - bootloader.bin and partition-table.bin: for first installation only, at offsets
0x0000and0x8000respectively. - AirESP32ace_v0.1.2_SHA256SUMS.txt: checksums for all four downloads.
The public firmware is rebuilt from sanitized source with blank credentials and fallback fonts. No private maps, provider keys, or proprietary watch/airline artwork are bundled.
Verification
The developer artwork variant of the same firmware was flashed and checked on the physical device. Flight 14 updated to Launch Successful with the companion closed; launch records survived the update, and production USB/Wi-Fi readback agreed. Two complete screen cycles passed without space-artwork failures or reboots. Host policy, ownership, USB chunking, stack-budget, and Swift snapshot checks passed. The public app was rebuilt, extracted, signature-checked, and audited for private data.
The full XCTest suite could not run because the local Xcode installation requires license acceptance. Extended offline/reconnect soak testing remains outstanding. See verification details.
