Breaking Changes
-
compaction: Compaction and branch summaries now keep every file the session read or modified, including files from before an extension's compaction, files recorded by branch summaries, and files in a long abandoned branch. (#953)
Everybranch_summaryentry now records the abandoned branch's files in requiredreadFilesandmodifiedFilesfields, whether Volt or an extension wrote the summary; built-in branch summaries no longer store them indetails, andBranchSummaryDetailsis removed. Sessions saved before this release that contain a branch summary no longer open; start a new session, or fork it from an entry before its first branch summary with an earlier release.SDK callers: a
ConversationSummarizer.summarizeBranchresult and a navigationpreparesummary must includereadFilesandmodifiedFiles. Protocol clients receive both fields onbranch_summaryentries.
Improvements
- tools: Bash calls can carry a short description, up to 10 words, that tool cards show as their title, with the command shown beneath it.
Fixes
- daemon: Conversation workers and extension inventories now end every process still descended from them when they exit, however they exit, the same way on macOS, Linux, and Windows. (#952, #971)
A process whose parent exited first, such as a server started withnohup … &through the bash tool, keeps running when a worker stops; on macOS and Linux a worker crash can still end it. See daemon.md. - examples: Updated the sandbox extension example's shell-quote dependency to 1.12.0 for GHSA-pqg4-j6r4-53mv, which also fixes sandboxed commands containing both
'and!(for exampleecho 'hi!'printedhi\!). (#844) - remote: A phone opening a conversation in use by another client now gets a conversation_in_use rejection naming its workspace and session instead of a handshake protocol error. (#962)
