hot reload not working on WSL2

Because github always return 414 Request-URI Too Large of vue issue helper, so I paste the issue screenshot image here

I had the same issue, It seems wsl2 does not watch for file changes inside the windows filesystem. Everything works fine if the vue project is inside the Ubuntu filesystem. Check out this link for further info https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/wsl2-ux-changes.

@toshoajibade How are you modifying the files if they are in the Ubuntu filesystem?

@nake89 Just create the file in Ubuntu filesystem instead of windows filesystem. You can access the Ubuntu filesystem by following this process

• Press "Window + R"
• Type in \wsl$
• Click on "Ok"

To modify the file

• Scaffold your project within the Ubuntu File System (cd ~ will take you to your Ubuntu home directory) using vue cli from your bash terminal, cd into the root directory of your project and type code . so VS Code will open your project using WSL Remote Server and you can modify your file normally and hot reload will work, if you open your file using the normal Windows File Explorer, hot reload will not work.

Regarding editing the linux filesystem files in Windows VS Code, I opened the command palette ctrl-shift-p and typed "Remote-WSL: New Window". Then I could browse the linux files :)
You might need this official Microsoft extension: Remote Development

Now I can hot reload files again!

i'm running from inside the WSL and hot reloading is not working

put the vue project in the wsl2 user path (example: ~/myproject) could solve this problem
if the vue project is in path like /mnt/d/myproject hot reload will not work

Is there no other solution better than moving the project inside the wsl filesystem? I've heard some people are able to set the watch mode to polling, I would prefer to be able to do those rather than having to move my codes to the wsl filesystem

export CHOKIDAR_USEPOLLING=true, this enables the polling mode which made hot reload work for me.
