In SHACL, there are sometimes multiple ways to achieve the same thing. In user-interface scenarios, it might be difficult for implementors to support every variation. A list of patterns might steer the user to follow the accepted patterns that are widely supported by user-interface engines.
The patterns also serve as a quick reference guide for end-users.
