Outcomes are normative. Should guidelines, methods, critical errors, and outcome ratings be normative or informative, and why?

• I think outcomes should be normative, as this allows you to understand whether what you’ve created aligns with the guidelines. Methods, critical errors and outcome ratings should be informative to provide a clear context of how to achieve a high score.

Thank you for reviewing and commenting on the WCAG 3 first public working draft. Based on your feedback and that of others, the Accessibility Guidelines Working Group revised the approach to WCAG 3. As part of this we discussed and specified which parts of WCAG would be normative and informative. You can see the current proposed approach and current status in the updated working draft.

Please continue to review future drafts and provide feedback through Github.

This content has been updated with the release of the latest draft of WCAG 3, which can be found here: W3C Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 3.0. The Accessibility Guidelines Working Group attempted to address these concerns in this latest draft.
