As we discussed today (June 22) during the IG call, we should add related W3C Groups and External Organizations to the draft WG Charter. The lists in the IG Charter should be a good starting point.

Should we pick a subset of high relation to stay focused?
We made quite a point out of the IG dealing with most relations and exploring...

If so, my initial guess would be:

  • Device and Sensors Working Group
  • Efficient XML Interchange Working Group
  • Spatial Data on the Web Working Group
  • Web and Automotive Business & Working Groups

I am missing a WG that deals with APIs---where is Tobie Langel active, since he made good comments for the Scripting API? It would also be good to have a WG here that deals with the definition of Web browser APIs.

For the external groups, I am not sure how to deal with the fact that there are some cooperations already in place where we should cross-check the specifications and that there might be more coming up. Do we label this as initial? I would also expect something concrete and not just a "yes we talked"...

  • IETF Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments (ace) Working Group (security model)
  • IETF Core Working Group (protocol bindings)
  • OneM2M (because of semantic models)
  • OPC Foundation (letter of intent)
  • Open Connectivity Foundation (joint activities on interfaces and descriptions)

BTW: What about alphabetical order in general (i.e., also in the IG re-charter) to avoid implicit prioritization?

The list of groups is at: https://www.w3.org/Member/Mail

As you can see there are multiple groups dealing with APIs. An example is the Device and Sensors WG
