@wayri wayri released this 03 Nov 05:32

Pocket KiView 0.12.81 / Android 1.81

  • Client-side GitHub and GitLab website readers separate project viewing from optional review/commenting accounts. No automatic page injection or required broad repository host access. Administrator restrictions remain respected.
  • Improved GitHub folder, branch and 3D model discovery, including signed-in private-repository model reads and bounded local buffers. Private GitHub model loading was exercised; organization-managed and private GitLab runtime acceptance remain unverified.
  • Cross-probe popups rebind selections, titles and exact guide endpoints. Open schematic, layout and 3D probes from another probe; every popup remains owned by the main viewer. Unnamed schematic nets map through saved terminal identities with ambiguous matches rejected.
  • Private website-session access errors remain visible instead of being hidden by an anonymous 404 retry. Restored viewer tabs explain same-profile recovery; failed inventory loads retain the requested commit. Recovery in the affected Chrome Work profile still needs live validation.
  • A single screen-space guide curve continues through popup boundaries, including popup-to-popup links.
  • Main and popup rotation uses 15-degree steps: R clockwise, Shift+R counterclockwise, F flip; X/Y/Z and Shift choose opposite 3D viewpoints. Editable fields retain normal typing behavior.
  • Corrected copper depth priority and camera precision in main and miniature 3D views; late-loaded model bounds refresh miniature clipping.

Browser and VS Code version: 0.12.81. Android: 1.81, version code 84. Each package embeds VERSION.txt and exposes the version in About.

Distribution and limits

Firefox ZIP is unsigned and requires temporary developer installation; this GitHub release does not reinstate the disabled Mozilla listing. Android APK is development-signed and non-debuggable; the AAB is unsigned and not Play-ready. VSIX supports manual installation. Store publication and phone installation are separate.

Public Olimex ESP32-PoE M2 and matched cross-probe fixtures provided browser evidence. Copper visual checks disclosed stand-ins. These checks do not establish all-board or all-GPU compatibility. See client-side repository loading and user guide.

Release verification

  • All 2,264 JavaScript checks passed across the extension, Android/web, VS Code and shared renderer tests.
  • The 149-test Python suite passed with two environment skips. The Java boundary-policy check subsequently passed with the installed JDK; Windows symlink coverage remains skipped for this account.
  • Android assembleDebug, lintDebug and bundleRelease passed. The APK signing certificate matches Android 1.80. Package audits verify versions, exact embedded shared viewer bytes and SHA-256 checksums.
  • The affected Chrome Work-profile private-session recovery still needs live verification. The exact private folder and commit were confirmed in the authorized signed-in in-app browser; this is separate from testing that Chrome profile.

Pocket KiView 0.12.80

  • Fixed schematic/layout/3D component cross-probing when KiCad stores a root-relative PCB association and a root-qualified schematic association. Saved identity now survives properties-panel truncation. Ambiguous and foreign-sheet matches remain rejected.
  • Schematic probes have independent sheet selection and previous/next highlighted occurrence navigation, including repeated sheet instances, without navigating the main drawing.
  • Added main and popup view flip and 90-degree rotation. Main shortcuts: D datasheet, C comment, P probe, F flip, R clockwise, Shift+R counterclockwise; drawing theme moved to T. Shortcuts leave editable fields alone.
  • Orientation is retained in linked and portable review views. Popup cameras remain independent.

Android app version: 1.80 (83). Browser and VS Code version: 0.12.80.

Validation and browser acceptance evidence are recorded with the release artifacts. Saved source files are not modified by these view operations.

  • Improved office-managed browser diagnostics: required website/raw viewing is separate from optional API/account access, explicit administrator restrictions have clear categories, and local-file help stays available without bypassing policy.
  • Component guide lines attach to saved pads/body geometry instead of distant field text.

Checks:2,198 JavaScript tests passed;149 Python tests completed with one Windows symlink-permission skip. Android build/lint passed. See browser screenshots and security review and limits. Android APK is a development-signed, non-debuggable preview; AAB is unsigned and not Play-ready. Store publication and hardware acceptance are separate.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.78 / Android 1.78

  • Refined 3D copper geometry: saved-width rounded tracks, bounded adaptive arcs/pads/drills, opaque ordinary saved fills, corrected outer-copper/substrate elevations including asymmetric stackups, and drill-bore walls without invented plating thickness.
  • Added Sharp edge antialiasing, clearer rendering diagnostics, antialiased bounded-resolution 3D probes and finer bounded STEP conversion. Original model normals and source geometry remain authoritative.
  • Interactive miniature schematic/layout/3D probe windows support independent pan/zoom, movable headers, 2D rotation, cross-probing and sibling windows. Up to four probes are supported, with at most two 3D probes alongside the main 3D context. Curved visual links can be hidden.
  • Removed oversized 2D selection rectangles while retaining selected source-geometry highlights.
  • Draftsman exposes final PDF downloads and saves PDF, SVG and editable source together to a new repository branch. Download links remain available while the workspace is open. Repository writes require an authorized account and explicit user action.
  • Improved dimension snapping, saved-page visibility and bounded canvas drawing caches/batching. Added Gerber inventory/analysis details and bounded automatic ERC/DRC report discovery.
  • Improved local import handling, project-file hierarchy support and legacy file handling within documented preview limits.
  • Repaired the tools spanner, separated Maximize/Restore from Fit icons, resolved missing Project glyphs, and aligned compact toolbar controls across light/dark themes.

Verification and limits

Browser acceptance used retained real public Olimex ESP32-PoE source and saved inspection/report fixtures. Automated geometry, source identity, lifecycle, export, transport and rendering checks accompany these changes. Package audit results and source commit are recorded in release-manifest.json.

An intermittent enhanced-graphics fallback remains: Balanced rendering stays available when the optional postprocessing pipeline fails. Antialiasing does not restore detail absent from original polygonized outlines or model meshes. Model availability depends on included assets; no claim is made that every repository model loads. No measured frame-rate improvement is claimed. Installed store-extension, VS Code GPU and Android hardware acceptance are separate from local browser verification; physical-phone installation is not part of this release build.

Android 1.78 / version code 81 uses the existing development signing channel with debugging disabled. The unsigned AAB is not ready for Google Play upload until an upload signing key is configured. Store submissions and approvals are separate from this GitHub release.

  • Comment publication no longer reports a failed POST when the provider confirmed acceptance but local receipt/link persistence failed. Repeated destination-dialog restoration is safe. Terms acceptance is retained per installation; later sends to a valid destination proceed directly, with an explicit Destination action to change it. New Discussions require deliberate selection.
  • GitHub/GitLab conversations refresh while visible (normally every 3 seconds, with failure backoff); conditional readback and account-bound 30-second permission snapshots avoid unnecessary steady-state reads. Writes still recheck authority. Existing issues/discussions can be browsed and replied to directly.
  • Point/area comments retain file/sheet/instance context and millimetre endpoints in validated provider metadata. Locate can use explicit coordinates when object identity is unavailable. Native KiCad field/value tables precede advanced properties. Comments dock toggles closed without discarding drafts.
  • Project home emphasizes files, default same-name Schematic/Layout, Calculator and Gerber tools. Settings widgets are created only when requested; returning to an existing drawing preserves its frame.
  • Public Ttl/vna2 root/subfolder discovery and old numeric timestamp parsing are covered by retained fixtures. Restricted legacy schematic/cache and PCB module support is available; legacy .brd needs conversion, and KiCad 11 remains unverified forward preview. Saved text variables resolve within bounded metadata; plain drawings avoid the extra project-settings request.
  • Assembly variants are directly selectable in the drawing toolbar.
  • History / compare displays the GitHub website commit feed with author, date and message. Load an exact commit or compare it with the currently viewed revision. The feed exposes only its initial window (up to 30 commits); older SHAs remain enterable. Project/history reads do not use GitHub REST/GraphQL. Explicit collaboration actions still can.
  • Cross-select, Unsplit and Theme are visible workspace actions. Theme commands reach linked detached views. Saved full schematic hierarchy paths and legacy PCB pin identifiers improve cross-selection; ambiguous instances remain rejected.
  • Net instances opens a list of occurrences in loaded drawings and up to four movable, independently rotatable miniature viewports. File-tree entries containing highlighted schematic nets are marked.
  • Pin/pad labels prioritize full numbers over long net names in 2D and 3D. Drawing tool icons distinguish downloads, native KiCad, Draftsman and Fast PI.
  • Experimental browser Fast PI supports modern named nets and legacy numeric IDs, explicit electrical/material inputs, complete saved physical stackup prefills, copper contact validation and voltage/current/density/loss overlays. It is a fixed-temperature 2.5D DC screening model, not a full PI/thermal/AC solver. Unsupported copper constructs are rejected.
  • Mechanical Draftsman reuses a single scene and asset inventory across projections and caches local preview PNGs. Its small live SVG preview avoids repeatedly embedding image payloads; downloaded exports retain embedded images. Saved-source invalidation, queued captures and close cancellation are enforced.
  • All-sheet hierarchy routes have smaller arrows, rounded bends and thinner muted strokes.

Verification: automated transport, identity, rendering contract, numerical reference and lifecycle checks accompany these changes. Browser-local fixture acceptance is distinct from installed Chrome/Firefox/VS Code and real-repository acceptance. The reported installed GitHub API error was not reproduced in current source and is not claimed universally resolved.

Android 1.77 / version code 80 retains the existing development signing channel. An unsigned AAB needs an upload key before Play submission. Store submission/approval and physical-device installation are separate from package generation.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.76 / Android 1.76

Pre-release

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 20:07

Pocket KiVi 0.12.76

Drawings opened from the project workspace now fill the available window by
default. The outer project title, setup tabs, status, preview-action strip and
duplicate project tree stay out of the drawing viewport. Its Project tab returns
to saved settings; Overview resumes the same drawing without reloading its frame.
Desktop drawing navigation and tool controls use compact, single-row headers.

Browser GitHub project viewing now reads website repository metadata and raw
project files, without using GitHub REST/GraphQL for project discovery or drawing,
model, settings and report reads. A bounded temporary background buffer shares
immutable public file bytes across viewer windows and avoids repeated downloads.

Default-branch discovery reuses root-page data without confusing a feature-branch
tab with HEAD. Private file reads remain in the signed-in repository tab and are
not retained in the public-file buffer. Scope, cancellation, byte budgets and
partial-inventory diagnostics remain enforced.

Automatic GitHub comment-policy checks and comment polling are removed from
drawing startup. Explicit review/account actions can still use provider APIs.
API-based branch and history lists show website/manual-ref guidance instead.
See docs/GITHUB-WEBSITE-VIEWING.md for cache limits and host requirements.

This change does not add missing 3D libraries to Marble or fix every model-decoder
limitation. Installed-browser 3D and detached-selection acceptance is tracked
separately from automated transport tests.

Draftsman now creates mechanical/assembly orthographic 3D views (top, bottom,
front, back, left, right and isometric). Copper tracks, zones, pads, vias, net
labels and electrical result overlays are excluded. Saved mounting drills and
component models/identified stand-ins remain. Top views support saved-coordinate
dimensions and hole/corner snapping; other views currently do not accept source
XY dimensions. At most 16 mechanical views are retained per document/session.

Android 1.76/version code 79 uses the existing development signing channel.
The unsigned AAB requires an upload key before Play submission. Store approval
is separate from GitHub publication.

A centered workspace header adds project-wide search (Ctrl+K) across saved parts,
pins/pads, net names, files, settings, supported simulation/report text and scoped
Draftsman documents. PCB part results offer Show in 3D. Indexing starts on a typed
query, reuses a bounded client-side index, and reports incomplete/oversized inputs.
It does not execute repository HTML or simulation source files. Saved drawing
content is limited to 128 files / 8 MiB each / 96 MiB total; report content to 12
eligible files / 1 MiB each / 4 MiB total. Files outside these content budgets can
still appear by inventory filename. Draftsman opens require exact saved-source
fingerprints. Existing provider limits may return fewer drawings and are shown.

Verification: source 920e2eb; 1,927 JavaScript checks passed. Python: 133 passed, one native export timeout resolved by a passing isolated retry, one Windows symlink check skipped. Android assemble/lint passed (15 warnings, zero errors); all package/source and SHA-256 audits passed.

Android 1.76 / code 79 uses the development signing channel. The AAB is unsigned and is not ready for Google Play upload. Firefox ZIP is an unsigned development package; Mozilla listing remains disabled. Store review/publication is separate from these preview downloads.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.75 / Android 1.75

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 17:38

Pocket KiVi 0.12.75 / Android 1.75

Improves 3D model recovery for projects authored on different computers:

  • Resolves legacy KISYS3DMOD and parenthesized KiCad library variables against
models actually included in the project.
  • Corrects uniquely matching model path casing, helping Windows-authored boards
whose assets use different capitalization on GitHub or other case-sensitive hosts.
  • Finds a unique same-path/stem STEP or VRML alternative when the referenced
representation is absent. The renderer uses the selected format's unit scale.
  • Reports missing project library models with actionable guidance. Ambiguous
matches are rejected; no arbitrary URL fetching or basename guessing is added.

Models installed only in a desktop KiCad library are not bundled automatically.
Include the model files with the project for browser/offline viewing. Existing
asset size, decoded-geometry and external-resource safeguards remain in force.
These fixes do not establish that every STEP/VRML model can be decoded.

Retains 0.12.74's detachable schematic/layout/3D browser windows, independent
cameras and project/revision-scoped cross-selection toggle. Native Android and
VS Code Webviews retain split views; native floating windows remain unsupported.
Experimental Fast PI limitations remain in docs/FAST-PI.md.

Android 1.75/version code 78 uses the existing development signing channel.
The unsigned AAB is not ready for Play upload. Store approval is separate from
GitHub publication.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.74 / Android 1.74 — detachable browser views

Choose a tag to compare

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 14:58

Pocket KiVi 0.12.74 / Android 1.74

Adds detachable browser schematic, PCB layout and 3D viewer windows. Use the
Detach view menu or drag a supported view tab outside the viewer. Each window
has an independent camera. Cross-selection can be enabled or disabled for the
linked session. Messages are restricted to the same project and revision,
validated and bounded, and do not trigger selection echo loops.

The release retains experimental Fast PI, compact view navigation, corrected
selection outlines, Draftsman and saved simulation workflows from 0.12.73.
Browser and imported-local browser projects support detached windows. VS Code
Webviews and native Android WebViews currently retain split views and show an
explicit unsupported-window message; native OS floating windows are not claimed.
See docs/DETACHED-VIEWS.md for host limitations and local-workspace lifetime.

Android 1.74/code77 contains the shared viewer updates. It uses the existing
development signing channel. The unsigned AAB is not ready for Play upload.
Store approval is separate from GitHub publication. Numerical limits for
experimental Fast PI remain documented in docs/FAST-PI.md.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.73 / Android 1.73 — Fast PI and compact views

Choose a tag to compare

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 14:38

Pocket KiVi 0.12.73 / Android 1.73

Selection outlines use measured text glyph bounds and visible footprint geometry,
including flipped views. Selected nets have stronger visual contrast.

Compact icon-and-text navigation switches schematic, layout, 3D, Draftsman and
Simulation. Existing KiCad workbook/waveform and wayriCAD results remain separate
from the new experimental Fast PI workflow.

Fast PI performs browser-local, fixed-temperature 2.5D DC copper screening from
two selected contacts. It models saved filled zones, straight traces, supported
pads and via/through-hole barrels using reviewed copper stackup and material
inputs. Worker cancellation and operation budgets keep the interface responsive.
A floating results panel reports voltage, drop, current, resistance, copper loss
and current density; gradients, direction arrows and net isolation overlay the PCB.

This is experimental single-net DC screening. Mesh refinement is required;
return-network impedance, AC, temperature feedback and unsupported geometry are
not inferred. See docs/FAST-PI.md for numerical scope and evidence.

Android 1.73/code76 includes the shared capabilities. The APK uses the existing
development signing channel; the unsigned AAB is not a Play Store submission.
Store submission and approval are separate from GitHub publication.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.72 — icon-first browser viewer

Choose a tag to compare

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 07:38

Pocket KiVi browser 0.12.72 — icon-first viewing

Chrome/Chromium and Firefox keep normal GitHub/GitLab repository, drawing and pull/merge-request pages untouched. They no longer automatically insert a viewer, hide source code or start preview/discovery reads on those pages. Click the toolbar icon to open the standalone viewer or project chooser from 0.12.71. A single detected project opens directly; multiple projects remain selectable, and empty, partial and denied listings have distinct feedback.

The small content bridge remains available for explicit toolbar context and authorized signed-in repository reads. Legacy inline preview handling is gated behind an explicit extension request for the current URL; ordinary navigation does not activate it. Existing draft handoff remains user-directed. No new permissions are requested. Refresh existing repository tabs after updating to remove controls from an older build.

This includes the earlier Draftsman templates/snapping and review features. Android remains 1.72 in v0.12.70; there is no new Android binary for this browser-only change. Store publication is separate from GitHub downloads. Mozilla's existing listing remains disabled, so its Firefox ZIP remains an unsigned development package.

Validation covers ordinary GitHub/GitLab file and PR browsing without automatic mounts/reads, explicit legacy rendering, standalone icon routing and read-only discovery boundaries. Full JavaScript and affected package tests pass. Installed Firefox and every managed-browser configuration are not implied by these tests.

Store status — 29 October 2026

Chrome 0.12.72 is submitted and pending review, set to publish automatically after approval. Its store description includes What's new in 0.12.72 and the icon-first workflow. The superseded 0.12.70 review was withdrawn. The currently approved Chrome package remains available while review proceeds.

VS Code Marketplace 0.12.70 is live; GitHub's 0.12.72 VSIX is a separate download. Android 1.72/code75 remains in v0.12.70. Mozilla's listing is disabled, its version is restricted, and no new upload or reinstatement is available. The previously submitted appeal has not changed that visible state. Distribution status.

Pocket KiVi 0.12.71 — standalone browser project launcher

Choose a tag to compare

@wayri wayri released this 29 Oct 07:31

Pocket KiVi browser 0.12.71 — toolbar opens a standalone viewer

Chrome/Chromium and Firefox now share the same toolbar launch flow. Clicking the extension on a supported repository opens a clean extension tab. A single detected KiCad project opens directly; multiple projects show a compact chooser with revision-pinned links. A selected KiCad drawing opens directly in the standalone viewer. Repository landing pages no longer get an injected discovery banner or automatic discovery requests.

Empty repositories explicitly show No KiCad project detected. Partial listings disclose possible omissions. Access failures, organization restrictions and failed discovery display a separate error with retry/settings access. Approved GitLab hosts and nested namespaces remain supported; ambiguous branch/folder paths require authoritative page metadata or opening the repository root. From issue/pull-request pages, repository discovery uses the default branch; use Compare commits for revision comparisons.

The launcher has read-only discovery privileges, not comment, account, source-write or native-helper privileges. Existing provider origin checks, administrator policy, source/ref validation and bounded project listings apply. No new permissions are requested.

After updating, reload already-open repository pages to remove their old injected controls. Existing file/PR inline review remains available; toolbar launches no longer focus or navigate the host page. Non-repository clicks open visible no-project feedback with local-files, recent-project and settings links.

The Chrome 0.12.70 submission and VSIX 0.12.70 publication are separate store operations. Android remains 1.72 from v0.12.70, installed on the connected phone. This browser-focused release does not include a replacement Android binary. Firefox remains an unsigned development ZIP while the existing Mozilla listing is disabled pending appeal.

Validation includes action-routing/sender-boundary tests, no-banner content tests, single/multiple/empty/error UI tests, a local browser acceptance run and Chrome/Firefox package inventories. Installed Firefox and live private-provider acceptance are not implied by local tests.
