ReadyForPickup 0.3.8

@wehbs wehbs released this 22 Oct 19:03
  • Pause a search. Right-click a search in the sidebar and choose Pause Search, or select it and click the pause button in the toolbar. A paused search keeps its last results but isn't checked and sends no notifications, so it no longer counts toward Apple's request limit or launch hours' pace. Resume it the same way, or with the Resume button above its results, and it's checked right away.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3 and later install this update by themselves. Otherwise, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.8.dmg below and drag it into Applications. Your searches, settings and Pushover keys are kept.

  • Launch hours. Settings > General has "Check more often during launch hours", with From and To times. Every day in that window, searches refresh as often as Apple allows: the app keeps to 30 requests in any hour and a half, counting Auto-refresh's outside the window. For one search with Auto-refresh Off, that's every 2 minutes in a window of up to an hour. The rest of the day, searches follow Auto-refresh, which can be Off. The main window marks a launch-hours refresh as "(launch hours)".
  • Fast-refresh warning. Apple answers about 31 requests in an hour and a half. After that it refuses every device on your network for up to half an hour. Under Auto-refresh, Settings now warns when your searches would send 20 or more requests an hour, such as one search every 2 minutes. It also warns when Auto-refresh alone would get the app refused during launch hours.
  • High-priority Pushover alerts. Turn on Settings > Notifications > "Send stock alerts at high priority". Stock alerts then get through your Pushover quiet hours, always play a sound, and show in red. Test notifications stay at normal priority.
  • Settings in tabs. Settings is split into General, Notifications and Updates, so every note shows in full, even on a small screen.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3 and later install this update by themselves. Otherwise, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.7.dmg below and drag it into Applications. Your searches, settings and Pushover keys are kept.

  • Refresh every 2 minutes. Settings > Auto-refresh every now goes down to 2 minutes. If Apple starts refusing requests, the app still waits at least 10 minutes before trying again, then longer, up to an hour.
  • View at Apple. Each in-stock model in a search's results has a link (the arrow at the end of the row, or right-click the row) that opens Apple's store page for that exact configuration, ready to buy. Pushover alerts carry the same link.
  • iPhone and iPad companion. The repository now includes a native iOS app, contributed by @gerdums (thanks!). It checks while it's open, and you build it yourself in Xcode: see ios/README.md.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3 and later install this update by themselves. Otherwise, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.6.dmg below and drag it into Applications. Your searches, settings and Pushover keys are kept.

@wehbs wehbs released this 20 Oct 02:24
  • 15 countries. Watch Apple Stores in the US, Australia, Austria, Canada, China mainland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and the UK. Each search has its own country, picked in the inspector. Settings > Default country sets where new searches start. Every model watched in a country was checked against that country's own Apple Store pickup data.
  • Up-to-date store list. Includes stores that have opened since 2022, and drops closed ones. A search set to a closed store says so.
  • Find a store by typing. The store picker has a search field: type a store name, city, state or postal code.
  • Mac notifications switch. Settings > Mac notifications shows whether macOS allows ReadyForPickup's notifications. If macOS has never asked, turning it on shows the permission prompt; if you said no before, it opens System Settings instead. "Send test notification" checks the whole path. The inspector warns when a search's Mac alerts can't appear.
  • New app icon.
  • Monitoring keeps running with the window closed. Reopening the window doesn't start a second schedule.
  • Refresh shortcuts. Cmd-R refreshes the selected search and Shift-Cmd-R refreshes all searches.
  • Fixes:
    • Throttling by Apple is handled once per refresh cycle.
    • Searches no longer refresh twice at once.
    • A search deleted mid-refresh no longer leaves results or alerts behind.
    • The sidebar no longer repeats the store name.
  • Sparkle 2.10.0.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3 and 0.3.4 install this update by themselves. On 0.3.2 or earlier, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.5.dmg below and drag it into Applications. Your searches, settings and Pushover keys are kept.

@wehbs wehbs released this 19 Oct 17:22
  • The right pane collapses properly. Hiding the inspector now gives the results the full width, instead of leaving a blank pane.
  • Right-click a saved search to refresh or delete it, even when another search is selected.
  • Mac notifications arrive for every search. Before, a search you hadn't opened since launching the app silently skipped its Mac alert. Pushover alerts weren't affected.
  • No stray "cancelled" errors. Restarting or stopping auto-refresh partway through a refresh no longer marks the remaining searches as failed.
  • Fewer requests per refresh. The app no longer asks Apple for a missing store list every time; it uses the bundled list.
  • No Keychain password prompts. The InventoryWatch migration is gone. If you're coming from InventoryWatch 0.3.0 or 0.3.1, you start fresh: saved searches, preferences and Pushover keys don't carry over. If you're on ReadyForPickup 0.3.2 or 0.3.3, everything is kept.
  • Under the hood: unused upstream code removed, and the app now builds in Swift 6 mode.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3 installs this update by itself. On 0.3.2 or InventoryWatch, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.4.dmg below and drag it into Applications.

ReadyForPickup 0.3.3

@wehbs wehbs released this 19 Oct 16:33

Fixes installing updates.

0.3.2 could find and download updates but couldn't install them, because it was signed without the sandbox entitlements Sparkle's installer needs. 0.3.3 is signed correctly, so from 0.3.3 on, updates install automatically.

If you have 0.3.2, install this release by hand once: quit ReadyForPickup, download ReadyForPickup-0.3.3.dmg below, and drag ReadyForPickup into Applications to replace the old copy. Your searches, settings and Pushover keys are kept.

No other changes from 0.3.2.

@wehbs wehbs released this 19 Oct 12:32

ReadyForPickup 0.3.2

  • First auto-updating release (Sparkle) and first release under the ReadyForPickup name (formerly InventoryWatch; bundle com.wehbs.ReadyForPickup, with one-time migration of saved searches/preferences and Pushover config from the old bundle).
  • Users on v0.3.1 or earlier: install this release manually once by downloading the DMG below; future updates will happen in-app.
  • Developer ID-signed and notarized by Apple (stapler validated), so it opens with a normal double-click.

InventoryWatch 0.3.1

@wehbs wehbs released this 19 Oct 11:35

Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple — the app inside is verified as Notarized Developer ID (Shamir Wehbe) and opens without Gatekeeper warnings.

  • Removes the redundant sidebar toggle button next to the + toolbar button
  • Developer ID Application signing, hardened runtime, stapled notarization ticket (submission 5109be16-f085-4341-9ec1-09ed54a80aa9, accepted by Apple Oct 19, 2026)

Supersedes v0.3.0, which was not notarized.

@wehbs wehbs released this 18 Oct 17:51

InventoryWatch 0.3.0

A macOS app that watches Apple Store pickup stock and alerts you when the models you want come into stock. This is the first release of the modernized wehbs fork of worthbak's InventoryWatch (credit and thanks to Worth Baker; the upstream app inspired this design).

What's in the catalog

  • All currently-sold US iPhones: iPhone 16, 17, 17e, Air, Duo, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max - every storage x colour variant (73 part numbers).
  • All currently-sold US Macs: MacBook Neo, M5 MacBook Air 13/15in, MacBook Pro 14/16in, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio - every standard/retail configuration Apple lists (91 part numbers, named by chip, RAM and storage, e.g. Mac Studio M5 Max 64GB 1TB).
  • Every part number was verified against Apple's own buy pages and Apple's live pickup API. Build-to-order configurations have no store-pickup part number, so they can't be watched (and aren't listed).

Highlights

  • 2.0-style three-pane interface with multiple saved searches, per-store results and Preferred-model badges.
  • Auto-refresh every 5 minutes by default (Settings: Off / 5 / 10 / 15 / 30), with automatic backoff when Apple throttles requests.
  • Notifications on this Mac, plus optional Pushover push to your phone - only when a preferred model newly comes into stock.

Install

  1. Download InventoryWatch-0.3.0.dmg below, open it, and drag InventoryWatch into Applications.
  2. Important - not notarized: this build is signed with an Apple Development certificate only. It is NOT notarized and NOT Developer ID-signed, so macOS Gatekeeper will refuse a normal first launch. Right-click (Control-click) InventoryWatch -> Open the first time to get past Gatekeeper. (A notarized build will follow once a Developer ID Application certificate is created.)

Requires macOS 13 or later. Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel).

Pushover setup (optional, for phone alerts)

  1. Install Pushover on your iPhone and create an account.
  2. At pushover.net, note your User Key from your dashboard.
  3. At pushover.net/apps, register an application and copy its API Token (each user needs their own - none ships with the app).
  4. In InventoryWatch Settings, paste both keys, enable Pushover, and hit Send test notification.
  5. Tick "Send Pushover notifications" on any searches you want phone alerts for.
