Is there any way to use a socket DB connection locally by specifying a socket file? I know mysql dump supports it...

I'm sorry that we never replied here.

The way would be to implement control of such parameter in the code. At this moment we aren't planning to do this, because is a pretty unusual scenario.

If you're still interested and you'd like to open a pull request, we'd be pleased to review the implementation.
