Saints Reborn 1.2.2
Fixes
- Setup: a first install failed at
Configuring the ReXGlue SDKwithcould not open 'msvcrtd.lib'on PCs without Visual Studio. Fixed - you don't need Visual Studio. - Ranked: other players disappeared right after spawning. Fixed (all players need to update).
- Players to Start (MULTIPLAYER > OPTIONS and the Ranked / Player Match lobby): how many players a matchmade game waits for before it starts (2-12, the host's setting counts).
- Faster when flying high: about 10 % more fps from the air, about 20 % on 4-core CPUs, plus about 5 % more on 4-core CPUs in general.
Download SaintsReborn-Setup.exe below, run it, choose your Saints Reborn folder and press Update (or Install for a new install). If an earlier install stopped with the msvcrtd.lib error, just run the new Setup on the same folder.
There's still issues with multiplayer on Linux, this will be fixed.
Online pack
Downloaded automatically by setup and the updater for online play (Epic): the Epic-enabled runtime and co-op, the Epic Online Services DLL and the game's Epic settings. Setup installs it only when it matches the source it built. You don't need to download it yourself.
Saints Reborn 1.2.1
Setup fixes
- Fixed:
unable to run program xzwhile unpacking the build tools on some Windows versions. - Fixed:
No space left on devicewhen the game is on another drive than C:. The build tools now go into your Saints Reborn folder (build\toolchain), and the old copy in%LOCALAPPDATA%\SaintsReborn\toolsis removed. - The build tools take about 2 GB less space.
- Setup checks free space first and tells you if the drive is too full.
Download SaintsReborn-Setup.exe below, run it, choose your Saints Reborn folder and press Update (or Install for a new install). Everything from 1.2 (aspect ratio and resolution options, faster on 4-core CPUs, Quick Match for everyone) is included.
Saints Reborn 1.2
What's new in 1.2
- New Setup, no Visual Studio needed. Setup now downloads a portable
toolchain (clang, CMake, Ninja and Microsoft's C++ headers, about 1.5 GB in
one folder) instead of the 6 GB Visual Studio Build Tools. The first build
takes 10-60 minutes. - Install from a disc image or from a folder with your game files (the
folder withdefault.xexandpackfiles). - Quick Match, Custom Match and the party lobby work for everyone. They
run over Epic and used to need a hidden switch; now they are on whenever
online play is installed. - Faster on 4-core and older CPUs: shadow volumes, matrix maths and vertex
setup run as native code (about 10-13 % more fps on 4 threads), and CPUs
without FMA3 (2012 and older) get a much faster compatible build. - The depth pre-pass is drawn every frame again, which fixes occasional black
pixels. - Mods that replace game files start much faster.
- Co-op and multiplayer are built in. They don't appear in the mod loader's
list because they are always on.
Install or update
- Download SaintsReborn-Setup.exe below and run it.
- New install: choose your Saints Row (Xbox 360) disc image (.iso) or game
folder and an install folder, then press Install.
Update: choose your Saints Reborn folder and press Update. Only what
changed is rebuilt; your saves and mod list are kept.
Avoid installing inside a OneDrive folder; syncing can break the build.
Linux support is coming soon.
1.1
What's new in 1.1
- SaintsRowPC is now called Saints Reborn. Old links still work, and
the updater moves your shortcuts to the new name. - Keyboard and mouse controls laid out like Saints Row 2 on PC, and button
prompts that switch between controller and keyboard pictures (made from your
own game files during setup). - Tagging can be done with the mouse: move it in circles the way the arrows
show. - F10 cycles the frame rate cap (30 / 60 / 90 / 120 with the 60 FPS mod), F1
shows the frame rate. - New bundled mods: First Person (V) and Whompays Trainer (F4); Living
Stilwater draws cars and people further away. - Smoother and faster: cheaper guest locks, native memory copies, a RAM cache
for the game's packfiles, and less background work for the button prompts. - Character creator controls for keyboard and mouse, and X / Y keys in the
menus (for example Select Device). - Cutscenes can be skipped with a mouse click.
- First Person: better seat position in vehicles with a look limit, stays
above the water while swimming, switches to the normal camera when bailing
out of a moving car, and no more camera jitter while driving. - The Saints Reborn logo on the startup, main menu and loading screens is now
part of the game instead of a mod (it is applied to your own game files
while the game runs).
Update an existing install with SaintsReborn-Updater.exe (or the Update
Saints Reborn shortcut); your saves and mod list are kept.
New install
- Download SaintsReborn-Setup.exe below and run it.
- Select your Saints Row (Xbox 360) disc image (.iso) and an install folder.
- Press Install. Anything missing (Git, the Visual Studio C++ build
tools, the Visual C++ runtime) is downloaded and installed for you.
Windows asks for permission when the build tools are installed.
The build takes 30-90 minutes and needs about 25 GB of free space (including
the build tools). When it finishes, start the game from the Saints Reborn
shortcut.
Already built the game?
Download SaintsReborn-Updater.exe, choose your Saints Reborn folder (the
one with setup.bat and dist) and press Update. It downloads the latest
patches and Whompay's Mod Loader and rebuilds only what changed. Your game
files, saves and mod list are kept. Installs made with Setup can also use the
Update Saints Reborn shortcut in the Start menu.
Notes
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because Setup is not code-signed.
Choose More info > Run anyway.
You need your own copy of the game. Nothing from the game is included.
