ProTest 12.1.4
ProTest's first stable release brings standalone Avalonia headless testing to xUnit 3.x and 4.x, with packages built against official NuGet dependencies. No Avalonia repository checkout, private feed, or developer signing secret is required.
All packages are version 12.1.4, target .NET 8 and .NET 10, and require official Avalonia 12.1.4 exactly.
| Package | Purpose | Tested xUnit version |
|---|---|---|
ProTest.Avalonia.Headless |
Headless platform, test sessions, and testing helpers | Framework independent |
ProTest.Avalonia.Headless.XUnit.v3 |
xUnit 3.x integration | 3.2.2 |
ProTest.Avalonia.Headless.XUnit.v4 |
xUnit 4.x integration | 4.0.2 |
This release includes:
[AvaloniaFact],[AvaloniaTheory], assembly-wide UI test integration, and UI-thread test execution with application isolation.- Shared adapter source linked between the v3 and v4 projects, preserving the original
Avalonia.HeadlessandAvalonia.Headless.XUnitnamespaces. - Mouse, keyboard, touch, multi-touch, and gesture simulation; visual and logical tree queries, selectors, validation, and comparison.
- An in-process Appium-style driver with locators, actions, and waits, plus frame capture, image sequences, recording sessions, and optional FFmpeg video conversion.
- CI and package-consumer integration tests on Linux, Windows, and macOS, with VSTest, native xUnit, and Microsoft Testing Platform coverage.
To add the xUnit 4 adapter to a test project:
dotnet add package ProTest.Avalonia.Headless.XUnit.v4 --version 12.1.4For xUnit 3, use ProTest.Avalonia.Headless.XUnit.v3 at the same stable version. Install only one adapter per test project; the headless package is included transitively. The xUnit 4.x framework still uses xunit.v3.* package names. Keep other Avalonia packages, such as themes and Skia, at 12.1.4, and replace existing official Avalonia.Headless / Avalonia.Headless.XUnit references when migrating.
See the documentation for complete project setup, usage examples, runner configuration, rendering, automation, and recording.
