Hacktoberfest 2023 in WireMock

Proposal

This is a placeholder issue for Hacktoberfest in WireMock. We plan to organize a number of activities around it to promote participating in the project and facilitate key initiatives in the project

Scope: Everything on GitHub, including but not limited to code, documentation, test automation, artwork

Tentative Priorities/Highlighted initiatives - depends on reviewers/maintainers who join proactively:

• Documentation clean-up and gaps
• Python WireMock - deeper Python ecosystem, integrations
• WireMock and Testcontainers for different technology stacks
• API Mock Templates
• WireMock 3 compatibility in downstream libraries and adapters

Prepwork

• Update contributing guidelines for the repositories
• Reach out top maintainers to create Good First Issues
• Define scope. E.g. Would WireMock.NET or Rust maintainers participate?
• Prepare a grand opening webinar
• TBC: Hackergarten in Switzerland
• TBC: Hackergarten in London
• Create special Hacktoberfest page

During the event

• Organize the office hours
• Organize PR triage for the repositories, esp in #help-contributing

Post-event

• Swag and badges for top contributors
• Collect statistics
• Summary blogpost
