What's New

REST API Support

This release adds CLI features for GUI/API integration:

  • Job Tracking: --job-id <ID> flag for tracking backup jobs
  • Backup Selection: --backup-id <ID> flag for restore/verify operations
  • Non-Interactive Mode: --passphrase <PASS> flag (no prompts)
  • JSON Output: logs --json for machine-parseable output
  • Progress Tracking: Real-time progress files at /var/run/backupd/

Improvements

  • Global flags now work both before and after subcommands
  • Flag position flexibility: backupd --dry-run backup db OR backupd backup db --dry-run

Security

  • Passphrase values are now redacted in all log files
  • Command-line arguments sanitized before logging

Environment Variables

New variables for API integration:

  • JOB_ID - Job identifier
  • BACKUP_ID - Backup identifier for restore/verify
  • BACKUPD_PASSPHRASE - Passphrase (alternative to --passphrase flag)
