First release on GitHub. Pload converts your JPEG and PNG images to WebP in small background steps, so even a cheap shared host can optimize a large media library without timeouts. Original files are never changed.
New in 1.1.0
Media library column
- New Pload column with Optimize, Apply new settings and Don't optimize buttons. They work without reloading the page.
- See the new size and the saving for each image, with a Details list for every image size.
- The same block appears in the attachment details and the media modal.
New quality levels
- Based on a benchmark with real store photos: Balanced is now 75 (was 80) and High quality 85 (was 90). Files are clearly smaller with no visible difference.
- Updating from 1.0 keeps your existing WebP files. The Pload page offers a one-click rebuild with the new levels.
New settings
- Maximum image size for new uploads (uses WordPress's own threshold; the original is kept).
- CDN address for the WebP sources (Settings → Advanced).
Fixes
- Image sizes in the media library no longer break or overflow in right-to-left languages.
Already in 1.0
- Server test before starting: image engine, safe memory and time per step, disk space estimate.
- Background processing via WP-Cron, with fallbacks when WP-Cron is off.
- WebP delivery with
<picture>: no.htaccess, works on Apache, Nginx and LiteSpeed. - Works with theme lazy loading (WoodMart and similar).
- Auto-pause on low disk space, with the real cPanel quota.
- Exclusions by image, page address or CSS class.
- One-click removal of all WebP files.
