radio v0.2.4 — cluster-2 fleet fix + full-tile icon

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 05 Oct 10:24
6635257

Highlights

  • Station visible again (radio_module 0.1.3). Basecamp 0.3.x ships delivery_module 0.3.0, where the logos.dev preset is Waku cluster 3 while listeners are on cluster 2, and a fixed :60000 port could collide at boot so the node never started. Booth now pins clusterId: 2, dials the logos.test fleet by default, and uses OS-assigned ports. RLN stays off (no membership needed today; RLN plan: #78).
  • Full-tile icon (radio_ui 0.2.4). Built on the current module builder (manifest 0.6.0) with a 256x256 assets/icon.png, rendered edge-to-edge in Basecamp 0.3.x.
  • Network still env-overridable: RADIO_DELIVERY_PRESET, RADIO_DELIVERY_CLUSTER_ID, RADIO_DELIVERY_ENTRY_NODES, RADIO_DELIVERY_TCP_PORT, RADIO_DELIVERY_UDP_PORT.

Verified: delivery 0.2.3 and 0.3.0 both land on cluster 2 with a live peer; live on the Parallel Society Radio host; Receiver discovers the station.

Install (Linux x86-64): both signed .lgx below, via Basecamp → Modules → Install LGX Package (radio_module first), or lgpm install --file <asset>. Runtime deps: ffmpeg tor.

Known follow-ups: RLN membership for publishing (#78); delivery status pill can say "connected" when the node failed to start (#81).

Booth v0.2.3 — required network fix (logos.test)

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 13 Aug 22:56
cd71d0e

Highlights

Required upgrade — paired with receiver-basecamp v0.4.0.

The logos.dev delivery fleet migrated Waku cluster 2 → 3 (logos-messaging/logos-delivery#4114). nwaku drops any peer whose cluster differs, so Booth dialled its peers successfully, was disconnected milliseconds later, and sat at totalConnections=0/150 — announces reached nobody, on every platform, silently. The UI gave no hint: the station looked like it was broadcasting.

What changed

  • preset: logos.test — the network upstream actually guarantees ("logos.dev is subtle to change at any moment", logos-co/logos-delivery-module#84). It is on cluster 2, so no clusterId override, and it ships its own bootstrap peers.
  • The network is now env-overridable — RADIO_DELIVERY_PRESET and RADIO_DELIVERY_ENTRY_NODES (comma-separated multiaddrs). This outage was expensive precisely because the network was compiled in: every host needed a rebuild to be re-pointed. Now it is an env change and a restart.
  • radio_module version strings synced — version(), ping() and the initialized event still reported 0.1.0 while metadata was 0.1.1.

Older delivery_module? You can still reach the network

logos.test is on cluster 2 — the same cluster logos.dev uses — so a host whose delivery_module predates the logos.test preset can set RADIO_DELIVERY_PRESET=logos.dev plus logos.test RADIO_DELIVERY_ENTRY_NODES and interoperate, with no cluster override and no module upgrade.

⚠️ Do not drop a current delivery_module (manifestVersion 0.3.0) into the pinned 268 AppImage to get the preset: it connects fine, then silently kills Booth's sync IPC ~35 s after start — the plugin logs announce success while nothing reaches the wire. Details on #72.

Verified live

publish:  00:07:22 · 00:07:37 · 00:07:52 · 00:08:07     clean 15s heartbeat, 0 skipped
ingest :  00:07:23 · 00:07:37 · 00:07:53 · 00:08:08     (receiver on the same network)

0 cluster mismatches, 0 drops, station renders in the listener's directory, sustained .onion audio confirmed by ear.

Install (Linux x86-64)

Both modules signed — no --allow-unsigned.

PROF="$XDG_DATA_HOME/Logos/LogosBasecamp"
lgpm --modules-dir "$PROF/modules" --ui-plugins-dir "$PROF/plugins" install --file radio_module-0.1.2-linux-amd64.lgx
lgpm --modules-dir "$PROF/modules" --ui-plugins-dir "$PROF/plugins" install --file radio_ui-0.2.3-linux-amd64.lgx

linux-amd64 only, as with v0.2.2 (mediamtx/tor hosting deps don't build on darwin/arm).

radio v0.2.2 — private streams (encrypted)

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 28 Jul 22:52
180ee6d

Highlights

  • Private streams — broadcast a station on a secret-derived topic (hash(Title+Passphrase)) with an encrypted announce. Relay nodes see only a random-hash topic they can't identify or decode; only listeners with the Title+passphrase discover + play it. Public streams are unchanged (plaintext directory).
    • radio_module 0.1.1 — topic derivation + announce encryption (libsodium XChaCha20-Poly1305 + Argon2id; secp256k1 signature retained).
    • radio_ui 0.2.2 — passphrase field on Start.
  • Verified end-to-end on two machines (Booth → Receiver over Tor).

Install (Linux x86-64)

Signed .lgx (✓ Signed by xAlisher) — install without --allow-unsigned:

lgpm modules install --file radio_module-0.1.1-linux-amd64.lgx
lgpm modules install --file radio_ui-0.2.2-linux-amd64.lgx

Runtime deps: tor torsocks ffmpeg (+ mediamtx for hosting). Listening is the sibling Receiver module.

Known follow-ups

  • Private-stream protocol spec: #67 · logoscore headless harness port: #69.

radio v0.2.1 — dependency preflight card

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 06 Jul 16:26

Highlights

  • First-launch dependency preflight (#53). Booth broadcasts via external helpers (mediamtx, tor, ffplay, torsocks). If any are missing, a card now appears under the header with a ✓/✗ checklist, copy-able install command(s), and a Re-check button — no more silent failures. Because mediamtx isn't an apt package, the Linux command splits into an apt line + a nix profile install nixpkgs#mediamtx line; macOS uses a single brew install. Detection honors RADIO_*_BIN overrides.

Install (Linux x86-64)

Both .lgx are signed (✓ Signed by xAlisher — no --allow-unsigned). Runtime deps on PATH: tor torsocks ffmpeg + mediamtx (ingest/HLS origin; not in apt — nix profile install nixpkgs#mediamtx or the release binary). delivery_module is also required (install from the in-app Package Manager). Install both:

lgpm … install --file radio_module-0.1.0-linux-amd64.lgx
lgpm … install --file radio_ui-0.2.1-linux-amd64.lgx

Known follow-ups

  • macOS (brew path) untested — booth hosting is Linux-focused (radio_module has no mac privoxy branch).

radio v0.2.0 — broadcast-only, universal API + design-system

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 05 Jul 04:06
e6bc276

Radio is now a focused broadcaster on the v0.2 platform. Listening moved to the Receiver module.

Highlights

  • Broadcasting-only — the Listen tab is gone; radio_ui is a single Stream view. Set up a station → hand your streaming software (OBS, Liquidsoap, ffmpeg…) the RTMP creds → announce over delivery, direct or .onion.
  • Universal API (interface: universal) — radio_ui has a Qt-typed QtRO backend calling modules().radio_module.* (fire-and-forget for MediaMTX/Tor spawns). Validated end-to-end in real Basecamp: Start → MediaMTX up → credentials → onion published.
  • Design-system UI — LogosBadge status, LogosComboBox / LogosTextField / LogosButton, Theme.palette tokens (0 hex), delivery-demo-style credential card.

Install (Linux x86-64)

Signed .lgx (✓ Signed by xAlisher). Runtime deps on PATH: mediamtx (broadcast server), tor (for .onion). Install both — radio_ui depends on radio_module:

PROF=~/.local/share/Logos/LogosBasecamp
for f in radio_module-0.1.0 radio_ui-0.2.0; do
  lgpm --modules-dir "$PROF/modules" --ui-plugins-dir "$PROF/plugins" install --file "$f-linux-amd64.lgx"
done

Then launch Basecamp and open Radio.

Known follow-ups

  • #36 OBS→"streaming software" docs (UI strings done)
  • #38 broadcaster stream reachability (onion descriptor monitor + MediaMTX hlsAlwaysRemux)
  • radio_module listener-method trim (pure broadcaster core)

Evidence: sidebar overlay glitch + rainbow icons (2026-06-19 build)

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 23 Jun 10:29

Screen-recording evidence for logos-basecamp#232 (overlay flicker) and #233 (sidebar restyle). Not a software release.

radio v0.1.0 — Tor onion privacy radio

Choose a tag to compare

@xAlisher xAlisher released this 10 Jun 12:33

Privacy-first sovereign radio for Logos Basecamp: anyone can start, everyone can listen, nobody can stop. Discovery over Logos Network Messaging, streaming over Tor onion (the streamer's IP is never exposed).

Artifacts (install with lgpd add, or via the catalog):

  • radio_module-0.1.0.lgx — core (origin/discovery/playback)
  • radio_ui-0.1.0.lgx — QML UI

⚠️ Requirements (see README):

  1. The pre-release-1dc1c08-268 Basecamp build — newer builds crash at load (delivery#31).
  2. Runtime binaries (LGX bundles only the plugins — builder#114): mediamtx (host), tor+torsocks (onion), ffmpeg/ffplay (listener).

Proven end-to-end across two machines: OBS → MediaMTX → Tor hidden service → discovery → buffered torsocks playback, no chops.
