Flowlight 0.1.6
Signed and notarized. From this release Flowlight carries a Developer ID signature and Apple's notarization, so macOS opens it without the "unverified developer" wall. Verify it yourself: spctl -a -vvv /Applications/Flowlight.app should answer Notarized Developer ID.
What's new in 0.1.6
- The Network Extension works. Install the content filter from Capture for attribution by code signature, flows shorter than a second, and hostnames without the packet-capture setup. macOS asks you to allow the extension and the filter. It uses far less energy than the fallback sampler, which starts a
nettopprocess every second. - What each agent is set up to do. With your say-so, Flowlight lists an agent's skills, subagents, slash commands, hooks, permission rules and MCP servers, read from configuration on this Mac. A hook that posts to a webhook explains traffic you'd otherwise have to guess at. It reads only the agent folders in your home folder, plus project folders you add through a picker, and remembers what it found instead of rescanning.
- Tools, models and tokens. With HTTPS inspection on, each agent shows every tool it offers the model and which were used, the model that answered, tokens in/out/cached, and MCP servers labelled local, remote or via provider — including servers the provider connects to on the agent's behalf, whose traffic never reaches your Mac.
- JSON tree viewer for request and response bodies, in their original key order, with event streams shown one event at a time, a Raw view and Copy.
- Help menu and a Q&A covering privacy prompts, battery, blocking and uninstalling.
Fixes
- Much lighter when idle: with no window open, Flowlight no longer builds chart data for nobody — 4.3 → 0.9 CPU-seconds per minute.
- A hung
nettopcan no longer outlive the app. One was found spinning at 148% CPU for 15 hours after a force quit; samples now run under a kernel-enforced time limit, and strays are cleaned up at launch. - History no longer depends on entitlements: the database always lives in
~/Library/Application Support/Flowlight, so a signed build doesn't start from an empty one. - Correct first-launch instructions for macOS 15, which removed the Control-click bypass.
Install
- From an earlier version: Flowlight › Check for Updates…, then Download and Quit & Install.
- New install: download Flowlight.dmg, open it, and drag Flowlight into Applications. Prefer an installer? Flowlight-0.1.6.pkg is signed and notarized too.
- Approve the one-time Name Your Traffic setup so Flowlight can read hostnames, or skip it and use the Network Extension instead.
Requires macOS 15 or later. Universal (Apple silicon and Intel).
