Flowlight 0.4.2
What's new in 0.4.2
Bluetooth: which devices are paired, which are connected, and when that changed.
A Mac sends and receives over more than TCP and UDP, and Flowlight was blind to the rest. The new Devices screen starts to fix that.
- What's paired and what's connected, read from the system every half minute — the device's name, what it is, who makes it, and its address. Connecting and disconnecting are recorded, so there's a history of when the headphones arrived and when they left.
- Which applications are built to use Bluetooth, from each app's own
Info.plist. - It's off until you turn it on. Not because it needs a permission Flowlight doesn't already have — it doesn't — but because watching more of your Mac should be your decision rather than something an update did.
What it can't tell you, and says so rather than implying otherwise. There are no byte counts here. macOS keeps no per-app accounting for Bluetooth, and the byte-level HCI traces that would give one need Apple's PacketLogger profile, which an ordinary app cannot read. The app list is who asked for Bluetooth, not who was granted it: the grants live in a database an app can't open.
USB and external storage are next.
