Flowlight 0.4.3
What's new in 0.4.3
USB and external storage, and the end of the channels milestone.
Flowlight now watches all three channels it set out to: the network, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, and the devices attached to the Mac.
- What's plugged in, on the Devices screen: the device's name, what it is, who makes it, and a drive's capacity. Hubs and controllers are walked through rather than listed, so you see what you attached and not the handful of controllers every Mac has always had.
- Volumes appear the moment they mount. USB devices are read periodically, but a drive being plugged in or ejected arrives immediately — that is the event people actually care about, and it shouldn't wait half a minute.
- A history of arrivals and departures, alongside Bluetooth's, so "when was that drive last connected?" has an answer.
- Off until you turn it on, like Bluetooth.
No throughput, for the same reason Bluetooth has no byte counts: macOS keeps no per-app accounting for these channels, and Flowlight would rather say so than show a number it made up.
