What's new in 0.7.9

  • Flowlight comes back from its own update. macOS keeps running the extension build it installed, so for a while after an upgrade the filter on disk is the previous version and the new app can't reach it. Flowlight now checks for that on the first failure rather than the third, asks macOS to replace the extension, samples with nettop while it does, and reconnects on its own once the replacement lands — where before it sat on the sampler until someone pressed a button.
  • And says so when only a restart will do. macOS sometimes accepts the replacement but holds it until the Mac reboots. Nothing the app can do shortens that, so it says which it is instead of retrying forever.
  • The content filter has its own section on the Capture screen. Installing a system extension is not the same decision as choosing what to capture with, and it outlives both the choice and the app — it keeps filtering after you quit.
