Repository navigation
NoteFlow 2.1.0 introduces the NoteFlow account with two optional plans — NoteFlow AI and NoteFlow Cloud (end-to-end encrypted sync) — plus a fully localized UI (English/Spanish), a kanban board and table of contents inside notes, split panes, and a long list of sync and editor reliability fixes. Everything that was free stays free: bring your own AI provider and sync through your own GitHub repository as before.
✨ Highlights
👤 NoteFlow account & plans
- Sign in with an email code (no password) from Settings → Account.
- NoteFlow AI — managed AI with no API keys to configure: a curated catalog of models (one recommended by default) metered by a monthly budget, with a usage bar in Settings.
- NoteFlow Cloud — sync between devices through NoteFlow's servers, encrypted on your device. Two modes: managed (default, nothing to remember) or strict E2EE with your own passphrase and a recovery code. Realtime updates across devices.
- Plans and prices are shown in-app and on the website; checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy (VAT included).
📝 Editor
- Kanban board block inside a note (toolbar button included).
- Floating table of contents for H1–H3 headings.
- Split panes per section and open a section in its own window.
- Auto-closing parentheses and brackets, IDE-style.
- Rename a section inline from the tab's right-click strip; the tab strip auto-scrolls to the active section.
- Underline syntax and multi-line task annotations survive the Markdown round-trip.
- Native UI zoom and centered in-note search matches.
🗂️ Notes & organisation
- Export a note from its menus and duplicate sections.
- Make temporary notes permanent from the expiry menu.
- Free colours for groups and section tags.
- Two-level select-all in the group view; sections record their creation date.
🔄 Sync
- New titlebar sync card with status on hover and an activity chart; per-device activity log in Settings.
- GitHub Sync now mirrors local notes, skips empty commits, uploads conditionally and keeps conflicting local edits instead of overwriting them.
🌍 Interface
- The whole app is available in English and Spanish (Settings → General).
- Redesigned Settings panels.
🛡️ Reliability
- Several data-safety fixes: an editor with focus no longer overwrites remote changes, offline edits that lose to a newer remote version are kept as conflict copies, deletions and local edits can't get lost between Cloud/GitHub syncs, and temporary notes only expire after a complete pull.
- Markdown round-trip hardened (no more phantom line breaks between lists, growing gaps after tables or merged code fences).
- Updater: a failed update check now says so instead of "up to date", and AppImage installs update in place and relaunch.
- Windows: the window comes to the front on the first taskbar click.
⌨️ CLI
- NoteFlow Cloud support, pull right after login, pure
--jsonoutput and a richeraddcommand.
⚠️ Known points
- AppImage and Arch users on 2.0.0: please update manually this time — download the new file below. The 2.0.0 updater picked the Linux package by distro and requests files that don't exist (on Debian/Ubuntu it installs the
.debinstead of replacing the AppImage). Fixed in this version: from 2.1.0 on, the AppImage updates itself in place..deb, Windows and macOS users are not affected. - CLI on Windows / PowerShell: the installer now ships
noteflow.ps1, which PowerShell prefers. With the defaultRestrictedexecution policy it fails with "running scripts is disabled on this system". Fix:Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser RemoteSigned, or callnoteflow.cmdexplicitly. cmd.exe and Git Bash are not affected.
