The first patch release, and an important one: if you use HD tiles, update your bookmarks' expectations — the imagery you saw before was in the wrong place.

The headline fix: HD tiles now show the right part of Earth (#143)

Since HD tiles first shipped, every draped tile carried imagery for the wrong location. The tiler assumed a simple 180°-per-tile quadtree; NASA GIBS's EPSG:4326 tile pyramid actually starts at 0.5625°/pixel with ceil-cover grids whose edge tiles overhang as padding. A displaced Earth still looks like Earth, so the bug survived until users cross-checked against the hover tooltip ("mousing over Africa shows Canada") and the zoom-in transition (North America suddenly becoming South America).

The pyramid is now derived from GIBS's live GetCapabilities document, the exact misaddressed tiles from the diagnosis are pinned as regression tests, and a live contract test verifies our grid level-by-level against GIBS's spec for all four configured matrix sets.

Also in this release

  • Drag rotation scales with camera altitude (#140) — rotating while zoomed in no longer flings the view across continents.
  • Hover readout names the province/state (#144) — "Ontario, Canada", not just "Canada".
  • Two post-launch robustness rounds (#113–#136) — status-aware retries honoring Retry-After, property-based fuzzing over every boundary parser (which caught two real bugs in its first hour), CI-enforced WCAG 2.x A/AA accessibility scans, seeded chaos e2e, a weekly live contract check against the GIBS catalog, antimeridian-correct study regions, offline awareness, FAIR provenance stamps in every export, CodeQL, supply-chain gates, and advisory visual regression coverage.

Unit tests 293 → 314; e2e 24 → 33; plus weekly live catalog contract assertions.
