v0.4.2 - eARC auto-recovery edition
Two editions — pick one
Standard (recommended for everyone): the ad-free custom home screen. It does not touch your audio setup. This release also fixes the v0.4.1 installer, which pinned the wrong checksum and failed to install.
eARC edition (opt-in): everything in Standard plus automatic eARC audio recovery. If your LG TV drives an eARC/ARC AV receiver that comes up silent after a cold boot or standby-wake — the TV shows the receiver as the sound output but nothing plays, and you have to toggle eARC off/on by hand — this edition fixes it: its bundled service re-handshakes the eARC link ~10s after every boot and wake. It preserves your eARC setting, but it elevates the service (via the Homebrew Channel's own elevate-service) and causes a brief (~2s) audio blip on each power-on. Install it only if you have this problem.
Install (rooted webOS TV + SSH)
Standard — download install.bat (Windows) or install.command (macOS/Linux) below and run it, or:
ssh root@<TV_IP> "curl -fsSL https://github.com/zzeppieri/webos-custom-home/releases/download/v0.4.2/tv-install.sh | sh"
eARC edition:
ssh root@<TV_IP> "curl -fsSL https://github.com/zzeppieri/webos-custom-home/releases/download/v0.4.2/tv-install-earc.sh | sh"
Uninstall with tv-uninstall.sh (same pattern).

Full changes: v0.4.1...v0.4.2
v0.4.1 - Event-driven eARC audio guard
Use this version if you have an e-arc receiver or soundbar through HDMI
The sound-output guard is now event-driven. It subscribes to the live sound
output and re-asserts your configured output (for example an eARC/ARC receiver)
the instant it drifts off, instead of only polling at boot. It still retries
through the cold-boot window, where the receiver's eARC link comes up slowly and
audio can otherwise stick on the TV speakers with no event to react to.
Installation is unchanged.
One-click install (rooted webOS TV with SSH):
ssh root@<TV_IP> "curl -fsSL https://github.com/zzeppieri/webos-custom-home/releases/download/v0.4.1/tv-install.sh | sh"
Or download install.bat (Windows) or install.command (macOS/Linux/WSL) below and run it.
Full changes: v0.4.0...v0.4.1
v0.4.0 - Easy Installer
Easy installer
Download the installer (.bat/.command, platform dependent), set your TV IP, and it will install the IPK through SSH.
Windows 10/11 | install.bat | Double-click
macOS | install.command | Double-click
Linux/WSL/Git Bash | install.command | bash install.command
For Terminal users:
ssh root@<TV_IP> "curl -fsSL https://github.com/zzeppieri/webos-custom-home/releases/download/v0.4.0/tv-install.sh | sh"
Known issue:
If you have the same specific setup as I do (e-arc receiver, through pass-through HDMI) audio may not play on initial app launch if you start it too quickly after a cold boot. Restarting your receiver fixes the issue. Diagnosing and will update this after with 0.4.1.
v0.3.0 — In-app location setting
Adds Settings -> Location: search for your city and the weather widget + home subtitle update live, saved on-device. The prebuilt app is no longer pinned to the placeholder location.
Install:
ares-install --device tv tld.my.customhome_0.3.0_all.ipk
ares-launch --device tv tld.my.customhome
App list is still baked in — edit src/lib/apps.ts and build from source to change it. See the README and docs/TUTORIAL.md.
