Play
Download MarvelNemesis-Windows-x64.zip below, extract it to a new writable folder, put files from your own supported original Xbox copy in assets/, then run MarvelNemesis.exe. The ZIP includes the prebuilt Windows host EXE, portable recompiler and required runtime files. No Visual Studio, CMake or Ninja installation is needed to play. The first launch prepares your game code locally from your own XBE.
The required default.xbe SHA-1 is 66481feb81d9a00a63f0d2f0a203a297b712cfb5. No ISO, XBE, original game assets, prepared game-code DLL, generated code, saves or mods are distributed. Keep the compiler/ folder beside the EXE.
Validation and limits
I tested the host build and gameplay on my Windows PC. A friend tested the portable candidate and told me it was ready to release. I do not have a detailed hardware list or build log from that test. The release ZIP was audited against a file allowlist and SHA-256 manifest. Its host EXE is the same one my friend tested; only package documentation was revised afterward. See Validation and Known issues for the scope of testing.
ZIP SHA-256: 5597d763847410d3aaed94d696b86fe40af0e932ea54f54da844bbed31900713.
This is an unofficial alpha PC port. Network multiplayer, native Linux and HDR are not implemented. I own and direct this project, with OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude as AI tools used in research, implementation, debugging and documentation. Original game rights remain with their respective owners.
Alpha 0.1.0-alpha.3 — Ultrawide 21:9
Adds automatic ultrawide 21:9 support for resolutions such as 3440×1440 and 2560×1080.
- The main 3D view expands horizontally while keeping character proportions and vertical field of view.
- HUD and menus stay centered within a 16:9 canvas.
- Original/Fit movie framing preserves the video aspect ratio. Fill/Crop remains an explicit option.
- Existing 16:9 and 4:3 presentation is preserved.
Native fighter-introduction bars remain within the centered 16:9 area. Physical ultrawide fullscreen and exhaustive movie/campaign/graphics coverage remain untested. See validation details.
The Release build, geometry assertions, package allowlist/hash checks and synthetic DLL compatibility checks passed. The extracted package also passed first-launch game-code compilation and DLL loading with developer environment variables removed; that diagnostic does not start gameplay.
Download MarvelNemesis-Windows-x64.zip, extract the entire ZIP into a fresh writable folder, and supply your own supported game in assets/. The included compiler prepares game code on first launch; Visual Studio is not required. Back up existing saves separately before transferring them to the new installation.
No game data, prepared game-code DLL, generated sources, saves or mods are distributed. The alpha.2 download predates ultrawide support; use this package for the new feature.
Alpha 0.1.0-alpha.2 — Portable Windows package
Alpha 0.1.0-alpha.2 — portable Windows package
Play without installing Visual Studio
Download MarvelNemesis-Windows-x64.zip, extract the entire ZIP, put your own supported Xbox game in assets/, and run MarvelNemesis.exe.
The package includes the host runtime, portable recompiler, Clang/LLD and required runtime DLLs. First launch prepares your game's code locally behind a progress window, then starts the game automatically. Later launches reuse MarvelNemesis.dll. No Visual Studio, CMake or Ninja installation is required for this player package.
No original game data, XBE, ISO, generated game sources or prepared game-code DLL is distributed. Bring your own legally acquired copy. Required XBE SHA-1: 66481feb81d9a00a63f0d2f0a203a297b712cfb5. Other revisions remain rejected.
What changed
- Split generated game code from the host EXE into a locally prepared DLL.
- Added automatic first-launch translation/compilation, progress, logs and cached reopening.
- Retain completed compilation files after interruption; reuse them on the next launch.
- Build a missing DLL again using completed objects; report missing compiler files.
- Added allowlisted portable packaging, SHA-256 hashes and compiler/runtime license notices.
- Fixed configuration loading/preparation in installation paths containing accented characters.
- Retain the existing PC Settings, graphics options, controls, cheats, Development selector, portable saves and experimental mods.
First-launch preparation is adapted from TGP482/SCDA-XBERecomp V2 (MIT), while preserving this port's local SDK compatibility fixes. Built with TGP482/XboxXBERecomp.
Validation and alpha limits
Synthetic EXE/DLL tests, package inventory/hashes, isolated first/cached preparation, interruption/resume, missing-tool diagnostics, missing-DLL recovery and native boot initialization were checked on the existing Windows/NVIDIA PC. See Validation for exact scope and measured preparation examples. Preparation time depends on hardware.
A second PC without development tools installed and a full hands-on gameplay/save regression of this new package remain pending. This alpha is intended for community testing. Preserve saves separately and extract updates into a fresh folder. Keep compiler/ for repair and updates.
Building remains available for developers. Known issues and Usage describe current limits. Do not attach game files, prepared DLLs, compiler/work/, saves or memory dumps to reports.

- Windowed, borderless and fullscreen display options; 20–200% render scale, frame-rate controls and V-Sync.
- MSAA, SMAA, anisotropic filtering, optional SSAO/GTAO and bloom, plus character-shadow resolution/softness controls.
- Keyboard and controller remapping, device assignment and local two-player Versus.
- Focus pause including audio, intro skipping and portable saves.
- Optional per-player health/energy cheats and content unlocks.
- Development mission selector and access to three retained experimental test scenes, with autosave suppressed during Development sessions.
- Experimental file-replacement mods; a manually adapted community texture was tested, but is not included.
Build your own copy
Sources only. No game executable, disc image, generated game code, original game resources or texture packs are supplied. Provide files from your own legally acquired original Xbox copy and follow Building. We do not support piracy.
Supported default.xbe SHA-1: 66481feb81d9a00a63f0d2f0a203a297b712cfb5. Other revisions and platforms are not supported build inputs. Keep the bundled SDK.
Alpha coverage and limitations
The maintainer validated a fresh-folder build, gameplay smoke checks and manual save/close/reopen/load on one Windows/NVIDIA PC. Campaign and hardware coverage remain incomplete; AMD/Intel GPUs and other PCs need community testing. Rendering currently uses Direct3D 12. Vulkan, HDR, additional character slots and new network/co-op modes are not implemented.
Developer scenes can contain unfinished behavior. Development sessions do not roll back progress in memory, and manual saves remain possible: preserve your normal campaign save before exploration. Mods require compatible Xbox paths/formats and remain subject to guest-memory limits.
See Known issues, Validation and Usage. Report reproducible defects with hardware, settings and a sanitized log; do not attach game files, executables, saves, texture packs or memory dumps.
