New

  • Resizable panels. Resize file lists and the Graph's branch/tag sidebar, commit details, and changed-file panel. Sidebar widths are remembered across tabs and restarts.
  • Branches in the left rail. Open a searchable branch panel with immediate input focus, arrow-key navigation, and direct New Branch and New Worktree actions.
  • More Graph actions. Create branches at selected commits, cherry-pick, revert, reset, and create or push tags using the existing review and confirmation flows. Tagging and cherry-picking also work with commits from other refs.
  • Adjustable background grain. Choose Fine, Classic, or Coarse grain and adjust its strength. Smaller shared textures reduce decoded grain texture memory while retaining the Classic appearance.
  • Help in Settings. Find guided tips, first-run setup, and links to create a GitHub issue in a dedicated Help tab.
  • Clearer onboarding and menus. Learn branch creation earlier in the tour, see a helpful empty state when branch search has no matches, and get darker dialog backdrops.

Fixes

  • Restore static Linux SSH-helper builds while preserving exclusive folder installation.
  • Preserve reviewed Git state during merges, repository setup, stash deletion, and conflict resolution. Handle literal filenames and prevent conflict resolution from following replaced symlinks.
  • Correctly continue or abort git am conflicts, and count each changed file once on Home.
  • Coordinate SSH reconnects, cancellation, machine settings, and background requests more safely. Share and limit repository loading.
  • Keep custom API headers tied to their server so changing destinations cannot reuse another server's credentials.
  • Support dotted Codex MCP names and filenames containing tabs in AI commit context, and collect selected changes in batches.

Periodic background fetch is planned for the Rust port; it is not included in this release.

1git 0.1.1

Faster repository browsing and more ways to get around.

New

  • Command palette. Find repositories and actions with ⌘P, with compact rows, matching icons, and Settings commands ordered for the active tab. Type > to search only commands.
  • Welcome and Settings tabs. Keep Settings open alongside repositories, preserve unfinished edits when switching tabs or spaces, and start new tabs from Welcome.
  • Terminal launcher. Open the app with 1git, or a repository with 1git . or 1git /path/to/repo. Enable it in Settings → Application → Install; choose Only me for installation without administrator access.
  • Fetch with ⌘R. Refresh now fetches remote updates before rereading the active repository. Fetch updates remote branches and ahead/behind counts without pulling or merging.
  • Larger AI selections. CLI AI agents can generate commit messages for selections beyond the previous 64 KiB limit.

Fixes and polish

  • Keep clone lists responsive with thousands of repositories, with a scrollbar for the full list.
  • Keep keyboard-selected commands visible and support navigation across every result.
  • Preserve Settings drafts and pending saves when changing tabs or spaces.
  • Keep failed terminal-launch requests from opening a tab in a different space after navigation.
  • Fix Settings and Welcome scan icons, and simplify the command palette by removing its shortcut footer.

Periodic background fetch is on the roadmap; this release fetches when requested.

1git 0.1.0 — Signed and notarized

@1bye 1bye released this 26 Oct 23:33

1git 0.1.0

Lower memory use, clearer reviews, and more control.

1git for macOS — Apple Silicon

This release is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, with a stapled ticket.

When upgrading from an older ad-hoc build such as 0.0.25, macOS may request
one-time Keychain access approval. Choose Always Allow for 1git, or explicitly
disconnect and reconnect the affected account in Settings. The new signing
identity cannot silently inherit the old build's credential permissions.

Highlights

  • Much lower memory use. The window grain keeps its appearance with smaller shared textures. In matched eight-tab native preview tests, median settled RAM fell from 368 to 140 MiB, and peak RAM from 607 to 151 MiB. Actual usage depends on the repositories and views you open.
  • Redesigned Settings. Grouped pages, side-panel editors, and faithful live previews make customization easier. Adjust repository colors and patterns while seeing the result, and recognize external editors by their macOS icons.
  • List and Tree file navigation. Switch layouts across Changes, History, Stashes, Graph, and comparisons. Include entire folders, keep your preferred layout, and reveal truncated names on hover or keyboard focus.
  • More AI providers. Connect Claude Code and Codex CLI accounts, choose provider-specific models and effort levels, and configure OpenAI- or Claude-compatible APIs with private authentication headers.
  • Customizable keyboard shortcuts. Search commands, change shortcuts, detect conflicts, restore defaults, and move between Spaces.
  • Better sync and conflict review. Review diverged branches before integration. Compare either conflict source with the working result in an aligned split diff, with highlighted hunks and expandable context. Push remains a separate action.

More control

  • Optionally automatically include changed files in commits. This setting defaults off and preserves manual selections.
  • Turn Grain texture on or off in Appearance settings; your choice is remembered.
  • Delete custom Spaces with confirmation. Their repositories, tabs, and drafts move safely to Default.

Fixes and polish

  • Fix Git pushes failing when pre-push hooks run Oxlint or other native Node.js tools.
  • Make commit errors and hook output selectable and copyable, including output outside the visible log.
  • Show Settings scrollbars when Pane scrollbars is enabled, while keeping headers and actions fixed.
  • Prevent repository-search flickering and return filtered results to the top.
  • Handle missing editor applications gracefully; removed saved editors remain marked unavailable.
  • Prevent cancellation errors when switching AI providers.
  • Improve branch-publishing remote selection, automatically choosing the destination when only one remote exists.
  • Keep blocked-close notices compact.
  • Reject conflict resolutions based on an indexed version that changed after review.
  • Preserve History and Stashes file-list scroll positions when switching tabs, and keep file-name hover animations responsive while scrolling.

Issues addressed

  • Fix repository-grid flickering and layout shifts while searching — #1, reported by @cheetahbyte.
  • Reuse existing Claude Code and Codex CLI accounts for commit-message generation — #2, requested by @cheetahbyte; delivered in #4.
  • Fix Git hooks failing when native Node.js tools inherit 1git's internal library override — #3, diagnosed and reported by @cheetahbyte.

Merged pull requests

  • CLI agents and compatible AI APIs — #4 by @1bye.
  • Native regression-test repairs — #6 by @1bye.
  • List and Tree file navigation — #7 by @1bye.
  • Diverged-branch and conflict review — #8 by @1bye.
  • Compact close-protection notices — #9 by @1bye.

Many thanks

A huge thank you to everyone trying 1git, reporting problems, sharing ideas, and offering to contribute. Your feedback helped shape this release!

  • @cheetahbyte — for the detailed reports and reproduction steps in #1 and #3, requesting external AI agents in #2, and suggesting ACP for the roadmap.
