CFA AI Toolkit for iOS v0.4.0
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS — v0.4.0
The Swift Concurrency Health Check helps developers understand how an iOS app coordinates work, owns state and handles cancellation.
Health Check
The toolkit inventories Swift source and uses SwiftSyntax to identify task and entry-point candidates. The architecture review skill traces app operations, considers repeated actions, cancellation, late results and failures, and produces an app-specific HTML report with grouped actions and source evidence.
The scanner supplies evidence for a review; it does not automatically prove concurrency correctness or reconstruct every runtime path. The report reflects the source and evidence reviewed.
CFA guidance
The toolkit clarifies synchronous launch signals, immutable snapshots, detail navigation and the distinction between authoritative persistence and optional caches.
Download and install
Extract ios-app-development-cfa-0.4.0-plugin.zip and run Install.command, or use node scripts/install.mjs. Existing managed installations can use node scripts/install.mjs --replace. Node.js 20+ is required.
The source ZIP is for contributors; SHA256SUMS covers both archives. Xcode templates remain separately installable using Install Xcode Template.command.
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS v0.3.3
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS — v0.3.3
The eight AI skills can now offer a relevant free explanation when a developer
asks why CFA works a particular way. All 17 catalogue entries point to reviewed,
publicly accessible articles. The skills still answer directly, work offline and
make further reading optional.
Published explanations
Fourteen tutorials lead with real code from Trend, Cuentiva and Next Rocket Launch,
then explain the approach, problem, reasoning and advantages. The three original
concurrency explanations retain their teaching sequence. All seventeen share the
shared layout and illustrated training-program footer.
Start with Why use AppModel in our code?
or Why use actors and Sendable values in our code?.
Clearer isolation boundary
All CFA Features own authoritative application state on MainActor, including
capabilities that do not yet have a screen. Networking, persistence and expensive
processing belong behind appropriately isolated services. A networking service
may be an actor when it protects shared internal machinery; ordinary helpers do
not each need their own actor. A separate type or an async method does not, by
itself, move synchronous work off the main actor.
These are CFA design conventions alongside Swift's actual isolation rules.
This release does not automatically refactor an existing application.
Download and install
Extract ios-app-development-cfa-0.3.3-plugin.zip and run Install.command, or
use node scripts/install.mjs. For an existing managed installation, use
node scripts/install.mjs --replace; edited or unrelated files are protected.
Node.js 20+ is required. No npm dependencies or PyYAML are required.
The source ZIP is for contributors. SHA256SUMS covers both archives.
Native Xcode templates remain separately installable with
Install Xcode Template.command.
Created by 3 Days of Swift Concurrency.
Released under the MIT licence.
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS v0.3.2
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS — v0.3.2
This release clarifies what a Feature owns and gives all eight AI skills a shared
reference for explaining CFA's design decisions. It also separates runnable
Starter Apps from installable Xcode templates.
Clearer Feature boundaries
A CFA Feature owns the authoritative application state for a business capability
and exposes the operations that manage it. Features are isolated to the main actor
and made available through AppModel, independently of which screens use them.
- A screen can present several independent business capabilities. There is no
requirement to create one Feature per screen or tab. - A growing ViewModel should be examined for responsibility: is it arranging
existing capabilities for the screen, or implementing a new business capability?
Only the latter points towards extracting business behaviour into the model. - Lower-level services may retain internal request tracking, caching or database
machinery. Those implementation details are not competing business authorities
and do not automatically become Features. - New apps start with independent Features. A composed Feature is an explicit
architectural extension justified by a business responsibility. Preserve
existing behaviour when reviewing or migrating established apps.
These are CFA conventions, not additional requirements imposed by Swift or SwiftUI.
This release does not automatically refactor an installed user's application.
Explanations available inside the toolkit
The shared catalogue maps rules to 17 local design-decision notes covering
AppModel, Feature ownership, ViewModels, concurrency, persistence, testing and
product preservation. Each skill can explain a relevant decision directly and
distinguish documented or confirmed rationale from editorial trade-offs.
Public links are offered only when publication and content review have been
recorded. Website tutorial revisions remain a separate review/publication workflow;
this release does not claim that those drafts are live. Raw founder notes and
private migration records are not included.
Other changes since v0.3.1
- Runnable Habit Tracker, Habit Tracker Pro and Todays Twenty projects now live
under Starter Apps. Native Xcode templates remain under templates/Xcode. - Release archives exclude local Xcode user state and build output.
- More explicit inline screen-ViewModel ownership checks and manual-review limits.
- App identity and orientation verification helpers for new projects.
- Stronger migration completion evidence and preservation of existing behaviour.
Download and install
Download ios-app-development-cfa-0.3.2-plugin.zip, extract it and run
Install.command, or use node scripts/install.mjs. Existing managed installations
can use node scripts/install.mjs --replace; the installer backs up an unmodified
managed installation and refuses to overwrite edited or unrelated files.
Node.js 20+ is required. No npm dependencies or PyYAML are required. Install native
Xcode templates separately using Install Xcode Template.command. The source ZIP
is for contributors. SHA256SUMS covers both archives.
Verification and limits
The release passes 117 automated tests and canonical-reference/manifest validation.
The tests exercise portable installation in temporary destinations, packaged
explanation lookup, migration evidence and inspector behaviour. Both release
archives are built and checksummed from the release source.
These checks do not establish end-to-end performance of an AI assistant or a
completed migration benchmark. Manual agent-evaluation cases are provided as
evaluation guidance, not reported as executed independent trials. No new Xcode
runtime validation of every Starter App is claimed for this documentation release.

CFA AI Toolkit for iOS v0.3.1
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS — v0.3.1
Capture the reasoning behind a migration, not just its final code. This release
adds opt-in infrastructure for turning real migration work into reviewed case
studies, alongside the template and workflow improvements committed since v0.3.0.
Migration evidence: the first increment
When explicitly requested, the migration skill can record the original behaviour,
constraints, decisions, alternatives, human corrections and actual verification.
Working evidence stays outside the application repository and toolkit release
source; ordinary migrations do not acquire extra case-study files.
- A versioned record schema and readable case-study template.
- A local Node.js helper to create drafts, validate evidence and fingerprint reviews.
- Separate labels for general Swift Concurrency guidance and CFA-specific choices.
- Publication-eligibility checks excluding drafts, synthetic cases, holdouts and
records without redistribution approval or privacy clearance. - Self-contained tooling bundled with the migration skill, including a clearly
fictional example for exercising the format.
This is capture infrastructure, not an automatically trained model, approved
case catalogue or retrieval service. No real migration records are included.
Validation does not establish factual correctness, legal permission or concurrency
safety. The helper does not upload evidence, fetch references or execute recorded
commands. Review and publication remain explicit decisions.
Other improvements since v0.3.0
- Habit Tracker and Day Streak native Xcode templates, plus editable
project blueprints. Day Streak uses Todays Twenty as its daily-practice example. - A separate Habit Tracker Pro project demonstrating Swift Charts and a
one-time StoreKit unlock for Trends. - Stronger feature ownership, Settings/test pairing, AppModel composition,
lifecycle, task ownership and feature-owned persistence guidance. - New-product design defaults separated from maintenance and migration rules.
Existing apps retain their approved UI and branding; the toolkit does not
repeatedly propose themes, footers or starter artwork during ordinary upkeep.
Download and install
Download ios-app-development-cfa-0.3.1-plugin.zip, extract it, then run
Install.command on macOS or node scripts/install.mjs in Terminal. Existing
managed installations can use node scripts/install.mjs --replace; the installer
keeps a backup and refuses to overwrite edited or unrelated files. Open a new
Codex conversation after installation.
The AI tools require Node.js 20+. No npm dependencies or PyYAML are needed.
Install Xcode templates separately using Install Xcode Template.command.
The source ZIP is for contributors; SHA256SUMS covers both download archives.
Verification and limits
The release source passes 80 automated tests, including 15 new evidence tests,
plus toolkit/reference validation. Portable installation tests run the bundled
helper outside the source checkout. Tests cover unsafe paths, missing evidence,
changed review content, invalid approval states and non-execution of recorded
commands. Release archives are checked in an isolated environment.
These checks do not replace Xcode builds, runtime behaviour tests or human review
of an individual migration. No ten-project migration benchmark or retrieval
effectiveness claim is made. A new native Codex activation and end-to-end exercise
of every skill is not part of this release's automated verification.
Created by 3 Days of Swift Concurrency.
The toolkit is released under the MIT licence; third-party migration material
requires its own provenance and permitted-use review.
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS v0.3.0
CFA AI Toolkit for iOS — v0.3.0
This release brings the downloadable package up to date with the toolkit described in the README. The previous v0.2.0-beta.2 download had four skills; this one includes all eight, the cfa Terminal command, and the native CFA App Xcode project template.
Included
- Eight AI skills: CFA App Creation, CFA Feature Work, CFA Architecture Adoption, Legacy GCD Migration, CFA Architecture Review, CFA Codebase Tidy, CFA Unit Tests, and Swift Code Quality.
- The
cfacommand:inspect, dashboard, doctor, andenable-project. - The CFA App Xcode template and its separate installer,
Install Xcode Template.command. - A local architecture inspector and evidence-linked dashboard bundled with the review skill.
Feature-owning concrete types now use a Feature suffix, with matching AppModel and ViewModel names. The template and AI guidance follow that rule. This release does not automatically rename code in existing apps.
Download and install
For Codex, download ios-app-development-cfa-0.3.0-plugin.zip, extract it, then run Install.command on macOS or node scripts/install.mjs in Terminal. Restart Codex or open a new conversation after installation. Existing managed installations can be upgraded with node scripts/install.mjs --replace; the installer retains a backup and refuses to overwrite edited or unrelated files.
To add the Xcode template, run Install Xcode Template.command from the extracted release, then restart Xcode. The template is not installed automatically with the AI skills.
The source ZIP is for contributors. SHA256SUMS contains checksums for both archives. See the installation guide for requirements, alternate skill hosts, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Validation and limits
The automated suite checks packaging, installation safeguards, the cfa command, inspector, dashboard, and template structure. The tools report evidence for review; they do not certify an app as race-free or production-ready. Building and exercising an AI-generated app still requires Xcode, relevant tests, and human review.

Cooperative Feature Architecture (CFA) — v0.2.0-beta.2
Cooperative Feature Architecture (CFA) — v0.2.0-beta.2
A free, open-source toolkit from 3DaysOfSwiftConcurrency.com for iOS developers building applications with an AI copilot.
CFA gives developers and coding agents a shared structure for feature ownership, dependencies and Swift Concurrency. Use it to create an app, adopt CFA in an existing codebase, migrate legacy GCD code or review an implementation.
Included
- CFA App Creation — create a new Xcode project with a working CFA feature.
- CFA Architecture Adoption — restructure existing code while preserving behaviour.
- Swift Concurrency Migration — replace GCD and callbacks while preserving the app’s existing architecture and concurrency requirements.
- CFA Architecture Review — inspect feature ownership and concurrency without changing app code.
One tool: Xcode Project Dashboard, bundled with the review skill for local, source-linked reports. Each skill includes the references and dependencies it needs.
What changed
This release includes the revised README with a concise CFA introduction, numbered installation instructions, practical prompts for each skill, publisher branding and repository links. It uses the smaller publisher logo and removes superseded artwork. Skill and dashboard behaviour are unchanged from beta.1.
Download and install
- Most users: download the file ending in
-plugin.zip. - Toolkit contributors: download the file ending in
-source.zip. - SHA256SUMS: checksums for verifying the two archives.
Extract the plugin ZIP, open Terminal in its extracted folder and run:
node scripts/install.mjsOn macOS, you can also open Install.command. Open a new Codex conversation after installation.
Requires Node.js 20+ and a compatible Codex CLI supporting codex plugin add. Building iPhone apps requires macOS and Xcode. For standalone skill installation, use node scripts/install.mjs --mode skills and check your agent’s discovery requirements. Read the bundled installation guide before upgrading an existing installation.
Beta status
All 33 automated tests pass, and the plugin and four skills pass their structure validators. Native Codex activation and end-to-end app creation/migration trials remain unverified. Dashboard findings need source review; scores do not certify production readiness or race freedom.
