UltraEdge firmware v1.2.1
UltraEdge firmware v1.2.1. Production (Latest) and beta share these files. Pairs with the UltraEdge app
1.6.4 (Google Play) and 1.6.5 beta (open testing). Replaces v1.2.0.
What's new
- The QX7 and other STM32F2 radios identify themselves (X9D, X9D+, X9 Lite, T12, TX12, T8 and similar), so My
Radios and the per-radio lists keep each radio apart. This was the known issue of v1.2.0. - Faster saves: the radio takes the model file in bigger blocks, so a save over USB takes about a second.
- One special function, one small message: changing a special function no longer sends the whole model file.
- The radio names its own switches and sticks: the app lists only the switches your radio has, by the radio's own
names (on a QX7 the fifth switch is SF), with no middle position on a two-position switch. - The radio's SD card in the app (System › Files): list it, copy files between the radio and the phone, make and
delete folders. The app writes only to SOUNDS, SCRIPTS, WIDGETS, IMAGES, THEMES and LOGS, never to MODELS or RADIO,
and not to LOGS while the radio is recording a flight log. - New mix and New input go on the channel you pick, as on the radio.
- A 6-position switch works again after a settings reset (TX16S, F16, V16, Boxer): if the reset left it
uncalibrated, it gets the radio's default steps at start-up instead of being ignored until the next calibration.
These need app 1.6.4. App 1.6.4 also works with v1.2.0, without them.
Radios
Built for every EdgeTX radio in SUPPORTED-RADIOS (56): companion builds on black-and-white radios, full builds on
colour radios (.uf2 on H7 radios).
- Hardware-verified on v1.2.1: RadioMaster TX16S (2026-11-07), FrSky QX7, RadioMaster Pocket and Zorro (2026-11-08).
- The other 52 are built, not hardware-tested. GitHub Actions built them from this tag
(Release build); each.txtsays so on itsBUILDline. If you fly one, bench-test it first with the
propeller off, run the checklist inSUPPORTED-RADIOS.mdand report the result. Passing reports move a radio to
verified.
Find your radio's file in FLASHING.md and flash only that file. The Q X7 ACCESS is not the Q X7: it has its own
file.
Before you fly
Back up your SD card and current firmware, flash only your radio's file, check the identity matches its .txt
(every file: UE 1.2.1, GIT# ab353965), and bench-test every change with the propeller off. Verify downloads
with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt.
Source
GPL-2.0-only, like EdgeTX. The exact source is tag v1.2.1 on branch ultraedge (EdgeTX 90bbce17 + the
UltraEdge overlay, monorepo commit ab353965). To rebuild a file byte-for-byte, put its .txt values into
radio/src/thirdparty/ultraedge/ue_version.h (see BUILD-HOWTO.md).

UltraEdge firmware v1.2.0
UltraEdge firmware v1.2.0. Production (Latest) and beta share these files. Pairs with the UltraEdge app
1.6.2 (Google Play) and 1.6.3 beta (open testing). Replaces v1.1.2.3 and the 1.1.22 beta.
What changes for production pilots
- Black-and-white radios get the companion build (Pocket, Zorro, QX7): the radio's own model and settings menus move
to the app, and the radio's UltraEdge screen sets the USB mode. Want the radio's own menus? Stay on
v1.1.2.4 (full builds, the fallback). - TX16S keeps the full build.
- From the 1.1.18–1.1.22 betas, now in production: flight logs listed newest first, model Trainer mode, timer switch,
pre-flight checks (throttle, switches, pots/sliders), GVar values per flight mode, telemetry alarms and vario, global
functions, New model, the firmware identity (version, commit, build date) on the radio and in the app, and the USB
mode kept until power-off.
New since 1.1.22
- Bind and range check you can see: with app 1.6 the radio reports what the module is doing (timer, Receiver
connected ✓, live signal, only the actions your module supports). - A range check never outlives the phone: if the cable is pulled or the app closes, the radio ends it.
- The app always knows the active model: when you switch models on the radio, the radio tells the app at once
(app 1.6 shows the new model and reads it again). - Reproducible: each file rebuilds byte-for-byte from the tag (see
BUILD-HOWTO.md).
Known issue
FrSky QX7 and other radios with an STM32F2 processor (X9D, X9D+, X9 Lite, T12, TX12, T8 and similar) don't identify
themselves to the app on v1.2.0, so My Radios and per-radio lists use one shared set for them. Fixed in v1.2.1.

(Release build, iFlight Commando 14 in
a second run); each.txtsays so on itsBUILD

UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.4 (full builds, fallback)
UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.4, full builds — the fallback. For pilots who want to keep the radio's own menus on
Pocket, Zorro and QX7 (v1.2.0 moves them to the companion build). Works with the UltraEdge app 1.6.2 on Google
Play. Replaces v1.1.2.3.
What's new
- A range check never outlives the phone. If the cable is pulled or the app closes during a bind or range check,
the radio now ends it by itself. Before, the module could stay at range-check power after the phone disconnected.
The app also stops a bind or range check when you leave the page or put the app in the background.
Version page: FW: ultraedge-<radio>, VERS: UE 1.1.2.4, GIT# 0ed0f5dc, DATE (the build time of that file),
BASE EdgeTX 90bbce17. These are full builds, so the radio keeps all of its own menus.

UltraEdge firmware 1.1.22 (beta): USB mode without prompts, background music fix, 56 radios
Superseded by the latest release, which serves production and beta.
UltraEdge firmware 1.1.22, beta (pre-release). Replaces 1.1.20. Pairs with the UltraEdge app 1.4.3 beta
(Google Play open testing). For the stable release, use v1.1.2.3.
USB mode on companion builds: no prompt, no lockout
Companion builds (black-and-white radios) have no Radio Setup page, so USB mode now lives on the radio's UltraEdge
screen (press the menu key).
- Flying days: plug in and go. The radio connects to the app without asking, and if the cable drops out it
reconnects in the same mode by itself. A saved "Ask" now means UltraEdge on companion builds, so a fresh radio just
works. - Simulator practice: on the UltraEdge screen press ENTER. "USB now" switches UltraEdge → Simulator
(joystick) → SD card straight away, with no replug. It lasts until you switch the radio off, so the next flying day
starts in UltraEdge again. - Make it permanent: hold ENTER to save the current mode as the default.
- Every UltraEdge build now keeps the USB mode until power-off.
Locked out on 1.1.19? Put the SD card in a computer, open RADIO/radio.yml, set USBMode: 3, and put the card back.
Then flash 1.1.22.
Background music stops and pauses on the phone
A Special Function playing background music now stops, pauses and resumes the music on the phone with its switch.
Before, the music kept playing. Needs app 1.4.3 or newer.
Radios: built for 56
1.1.22 builds for every radio EdgeTX supports at our base (RadioMaster, Jumper, FrSky, FlySky, BETAFPV, iFlight,
HelloRadioSky and more).
- Hardware-verified: Pocket, Zorro, TX16S and QX7 on the v1.1.2 full build; 1.1.22 beta (TX16S full, QX7 companion) smoke-tested by the owner on 2026-10-25.
- Built, not yet verified: the other 52 radios, and the Pocket and Zorro companion builds. Help us verify
yours with the checklist inSUPPORTED-RADIOS.md.
Find your radio's file in FLASHING.md and flash only that file. Similar names are different hardware: the
Q X7 ACCESS is not the Q X7 (different chip, different file). Black-and-white radios get the companion build
(the radio's model and settings menus move to the app). Colour radios get the full build, which keeps Radio
Setup. STM32H750 radios get a .uf2.
Carried over: FW/VERS/GIT#/DATE identity on the radio and in the app, companion build on 212×64 radios, flight-log
viewer, trainer mode, timer switch, pre-flight checks, GVars per flight mode, telemetry alarms and vario, global
functions, New model.
Before you fly

UltraEdge firmware 1.1.20 (beta): USB-mode lockout fix, 56 radios
Superseded by v1.1.22; use v1.1.22.
UltraEdge firmware 1.1.20, beta (pre-release). Replaces 1.1.19. Pairs with the UltraEdge app 1.4.0 beta
(Google Play open testing). For the stable release, use v1.1.2.1.
Fixed: locked out by the USB mode (companion builds)
Companion builds have no Radio Setup page. If the radio's USB mode was Joystick or Storage, the phone couldn't
connect, and nothing on the radio could change it back. Now:
- Press any settings key (for example MENU or SYS). The UltraEdge screen opens and shows USB mode: ….
- Press ENTER to step through Ask → Joystick → Storage → Serial. Pick Serial (or Ask).
- Unplug and replug the USB cable. The setting is saved on the radio.
Still on 1.1.19 and locked out? Put the SD card in a computer, open RADIO/radio.yml, set USBMode: 3, and put the
card back. Then flash 1.1.20.
Radios: built for 56
1.1.20 builds for every radio EdgeTX supports at our base (RadioMaster, Jumper, FrSky, FlySky, BETAFPV, iFlight,
HelloRadioSky and more).
- Hardware-checked: RadioMaster Pocket, Zorro, TX16S and FrSky Q X7 / Q X7S, all on earlier builds. 1.1.20 itself
hasn't been verified on a radio yet. - Built, not yet verified: the other 52 radios. Help us verify yours with the checklist in
SUPPORTED-RADIOS.md.

UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.3 — background music stop, USB mode kept until power-off
UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.3, production. Pairs with the UltraEdge app 1.3.2 on Google Play.
What's new
- Background music stops with its switch. A Special Function playing background music now stops (and pauses and
resumes) on the phone as well as on the radio. Before, the phone kept looping it after the switch went off.
Needs app 1.3.2 or newer. - The USB mode is kept until power-off. Once you pick a USB mode (Serial for the app, Joystick for a simulator,
Storage for the SD card), the radio keeps it until you turn it off. A loose cable or a phone that drops the
connection reconnects in the same mode without asking again. Power-cycle the radio to choose a different mode.

UltraEdge firmware 1.1.19 (beta) — made for any EdgeTX radio: 56 radios
Superseded by v1.1.20 (USB-mode lockout fix); use v1.1.20.
⚠️ Known issue (companion builds), fixed in 1.1.20: companion builds have no Radio Setup menu, so if the
radio's USB mode is set to Joystick or Storage, the phone can't connect and the radio can't change it.
Before flashing, set USB mode to Ask or Serial (SYS ▸ Radio Setup ▸ USB Mode). Already locked out?
Take out the SD card, openRADIO/radio.ymlon a computer, setUSBMode: 3(Serial; 0 = Ask), save, and put
it back. Or flash the full v1.1.2.1 build from the bootloader (power on holding both horizontal trims inward).

New since 1.1.18
- Firmware identity everywhere. The radio shows
FW: ultraedge-<radio>,VERS: UE 1.1.19,GIT#(UltraEdge
source commit),DATE(build time) and the EdgeTX base. Full builds show it on the Version page, companion builds on
the UltraEdge screen. The app 1.4.0 shows the same in System ▸ About ▸ Radio firmware, in My Radios and in its
diagnostics log. - Companion build on 212×64 radios (X9D, X9D+, X9D+ 2019, X9E). The full build doesn't fit their 512 KB.
- Build fix for the FlySky NB4+.
Beta features carried from 1.1.18: companion-only builds, flight-log viewer (with app 1.4), trainer mode, timer
switch, pre-flight checks, GVars per flight mode, telemetry alarms and vario, global functions, New model.

UltraEdge companion firmware 1.1.18 — BETA (pre-release). Pairs with the UltraEdge app 1.4.0 beta (Google Play open testing).
⚠️ Beta. The features below are emulator-tested and still collecting hardware mileage. Back up your SD card,
and bench-test with props off before you fly. The stable release stays v1.1.2
with app 1.3.0 from the normal Play listing.
Companion builds on Pocket, Zorro and QX7
On the 128×64 radios this beta is a companion build: the radio's own model and radio-settings menus are removed
to make room, and the phone holds those settings. The radio still flies, shows its main view and lets you pick a
model. TX16S stays a full build. To get the menus back, flash v1.1.2 (or stock EdgeTX) again.
What's new since v1.1.2
- 📈 Every flight log is listed newest first, so the app copies new logs automatically (charts and GPS track in the app).
- 💾 Model saves are confirmed chunk by chunk (fixes "push out of sequence"), and USB sends never overwrite unsent
bytes (QX7 model and file reads no longer arrive torn). - 📻 Each radio identifies itself to the app (My Radios), and the radio sends the app its own Special Function list.
- 🎛️ From the phone: model Trainer mode, timer switch, pre-flight checks (throttle, switches, pots/sliders),
GVar values per flight mode, telemetry alarms (RSSI/RQly low and critical, disable alarms), vario, global
functions, Use global functions, and New model (EdgeTX's own blank-model path). - The radio's Version page names the UltraEdge build.

Compatibility
UE Protocol v4. Use it with the UltraEdge app 1.4.0 beta. For app 1.3.0, stay on firmware v1.1.2.
Source
Exact source for these binaries: tag v1.1.18 (branch ultraedge-beta) on this repo. GPL-2.0-only (a derivative
of EdgeTX, which is GPL-2.0-only). With no phone attached the radio runs as EdgeTX.
Correction (2026-10-24): the
frsky-qx7file is for the FrSky Q X7 and Q X7S (STM32F205). It is not for the Q X7 ACCESS (STM32F407), which needs its own build (coming in the beta).
UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.1 — Version page names the UltraEdge firmware
Superseded by v1.1.2.3 (background music stop, USB mode kept until power-off).
UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2.1, production. Pairs with the UltraEdge app 1.3.0 on Google Play.
What's new
- The radio's Version page names the UltraEdge firmware. It now shows
FW: ultraedge-<radio>,
VERS: UE 1.1.2.1,GIT#(the UltraEdge source commit) andDATE(when this binary was built), plus the EdgeTX
base. Before, it showed stock EdgeTX values (edgetx-x7,pre-3.0.0-selfbuild,90bbce17). Include these lines
when you report a problem. - Licence headers in the source (GPL-2.0-only overlay, MIT codec). Comments only.
Nothing else changed from v1.1.2. All model, radio, telemetry and link behaviour is identical. These are full
builds, so the radio keeps all of its own menus.

Testing status
The v1.1.2 feature set is hardware-verified on Pocket, Zorro, TX16S and QX7. This build adds only the Version-page
text and hasn't been separately re-flown. If anything looks wrong, go back to
v1.1.2 and open an issue.

UltraEdge firmware v1.1.2 — Manage Models, restore, trainer, physical sticks
UltraEdge companion firmware v1.1.2 — manage, back up and restore models from the phone; trainer setup; physical sticks & switches for the channel monitor.
Highlights
- 🗂️ Manage Models from the UltraEdge app. Select, copy and delete models on the radio from the phone.
Selecting a model goes through the radio's own safety checks (throttle / switch warnings), as on the radio. - 💾 Restore to radio. Models backed up to the app's library can be pushed back onto the radio as a new
model — the radio validates and writes the file itself. - 🎚️ Trainer setup from the phone. Trainer mode is set per model and the per-channel trainer mix is
editable, matching EdgeTX's own trainer page. - 🕹️ Physical sticks + switch positions are now sent to the app, so its channel monitor shows your real
gimbals (labelled for your stick mode), pots/sliders and every switch. - 🛠️ Fixes: model copy no longer reports a false error; the app stays in step after switching models;
SD-card listing of/MODELSno longer hangs; the input/mix name, source and switch references round-trip
exactly as EdgeTX writes them. - 💾 Edits from the app are on the SD card before the app re-reads the model — the radio now saves a
pending model change before sending the model file, so the app always shows what was just saved.

FLASHING.md.
Compatibility
UE Protocol v4 (unchanged) — pairs with UltraEdge app 1.2.13+. Model management, restore, trainer
setup and the physical-stick monitor need this firmware; with v1.0.2 the app's other features keep working.
Known issues
- TX16S (color LCD): telemetry-screen refresh is slower than on the mono radios (optimization tracked).
- Pocket and Zorro: the builds are close to the 512 KB flash limit; this does not affect operation.
With no phone attached the radio runs as stock EdgeTX. GPL-2.0-only (a derivative of EdgeTX, which is GPL-2.0-only).
Other radios
Others build with the same flags — see
BUILD-HOWTO.md.
Correction (2026-10-24): the
frsky-qx7file is for the FrSky Q X7 and Q X7S (STM32F205). It is not for the Q X7 ACCESS (STM32F407), which needs its own build (coming in the beta).
