The first release from one repository

This is the first release of the 51Degrees Java packages from this repository, which brings together the Pipeline API, Device Detection, IP Intelligence and Location, and their examples. Every package keeps its Maven coordinates, and all of them now carry the same version, so this release is an ordinary upgrade for a project that uses them. The separate repositories the packages came from are archived and point here.

The packages were built from the commit this tag marks. The changes merged after it, such as the regeneration of the SWIG wrappers, are in the next release.

Changes in the native code

The two on-premise engines are built from 51degrees-cxx 4.5.100, which brings these changes since the last releases of the separate repositories.

  • An IPv4-mapped IPv6 address such as ::ffff:8.8.8.8 now gets the same answers as 8.8.8.8, and an address below the lowest key in the data file gets no value rather than the answer for an unrelated network.
  • A data file reload that fails now keeps the data set in use, so the engine goes on answering from the old data, and refreshData throws with the status message.
  • A single header or pseudo header longer than maxMatchedUserAgentLength, 500 bytes by default, is ignored rather than matched on.
  • A value or property with no description or URL gives an empty string, where recent data files gave the first string in the file.
  • A rejected data file reports INCORRECT_VERSION or CORRUPT_DATA.
  • The IP Intelligence Balanced preset holds in memory what the named required properties need, so a caller naming properties gets faster lookups.
  • The results have typed accessors with a Strict suffix, which give no value for text of another type. The existing accessors are unchanged.

Changes in the Java packages

  • Location is built against the current Pipeline API rather than the 4.4 release it was pinned to, so its web examples bundle the current Pipeline jars.
