Release list
WaveType 0.1.0-beta1.02 — Windows x64
WaveType 0.1.0-beta1.02 — Windows x64 preview
Changes since 0.1.0-beta1.01:
- Settings can check GitHub Releases for a newer beta 1 version. Automatic checks and downloads are optional and off by default.
- App update downloads show progress and support Pause, Resume, and Cancel. The installer must match the release SHA-256 checksum before installation is offered.
- After approval, WaveType closes, installs the update while preserving the installation location and shortcut/startup choices, then reopens.
- The desktop event connection no longer times out after 180 idle seconds, addressing dictation controls and model repair becoming unresponsive after sleep.
Upgrade: Users of beta 1.01 need to download and run beta 1.02 manually. Once beta 1.02 is installed, future beta 1 updates can be checked from Settings. Exit WaveType from the tray before a manual setup run. In-app updates close it after approval. Models, settings, dictionary, and history are kept.
Signing: The source commits are signed and verified by GitHub. The Windows installer is unsigned; this release does not fix SmartScreen reputation. Keep Windows security protections enabled. Verify the downloaded installer against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt.
Validation: Source tests, packaged engine smoke checks, installer build, release checksum, and update-only installer guard are checked. A real long-sleep cycle, a full in-app upgrade, clean Windows 10/11 installations, and Defender scanning have not yet been completed. See release validation details.
Download WaveType-0.1.0-beta1.02-Setup-x64.exe and SHA256SUMS.txt from the beta 1.02 release.
WaveType 0.1.0-beta1.01 — Windows x64
WaveType 0.1.0-beta1.01 — Windows x64 preview
Changes since 0.1.0-beta.1:
- Installation completes without downloading models.
- Parakeet downloads on first launch; Qwen stays optional.
- Settings adds download, pause/resume, cancel, and verify/repair controls.
- Model downloads show progress and disk usage.
- Delete either model independently, including its downloaded runtimes.
- Qwen deletion removes CPU/GPU runtimes and disables Smart cleanup.
- Pause, cancel, and model deletion choices survive restart.
- Interrupted downloads resume; corrupt files can be repaired.
- Settings stays accessible when a model or microphone is unavailable.
- Uninstall offers optional removal of all local data; keeping data is the default.
- Setup checks that WaveType has exited before upgrade or uninstall.
- Failed removals retain the uninstall entry for retry.
- Windows Installed apps receives an application-size entry.
- Improved engine shutdown and updated privacy, About, and licence notices.
- Includes the project's MIT licence and current contribution/accessibility documentation.
SmartScreen: This installer is unsigned and warnings still occur. The maintainer reports that “Run anyway” is now available on their machine. This is not a SmartScreen fix or a guarantee for other PCs. Trusted signing is still pending. Keep Windows security protections enabled.
Upgrade: Exit WaveType from the tray, then run the new installer. Old uninstallers cannot be changed retroactively; installing this version supplies the new uninstaller. The optional Windows Advanced options page is not implemented.
Validation: 55 automated tests passed; one symbolic-link test was skipped. The packaged-engine offline/deletion/restart smoke test and isolated installed-size registration test passed. Clean Windows 10/11 install/uninstall testing, full packaged UI validation and Defender scanning remain pending. See validation details.
Download WaveType-0.1.0-beta1.01-Setup-x64.exe and verify it against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt. Models download separately. Both installer and matching source are available from the release page.
WaveType 0.1.0 beta 1 — Windows x64
WaveType's first Windows x64 preview: local dictation with a floating pill, Ctrl+Win hold/tap recording, a tray menu, compact history, personal snippets/vocabulary, and optional offline Smart cleanup.
Download WaveType-0.1.0-beta.1-Setup-x64.exe below. It installs the app and bundled Python/engine; users do not need Python or the CUDA Toolkit. Supported platform: Intel/AMD x64 Windows 10/11. ARM64 and 32-bit Windows are not supported by this release.
The branded installer offers:
- Installation-folder selection.
- Start Menu and desktop shortcuts.
- Optional startup when signing in to Windows (off by default).
- Optional Smart cleanup model download (off by default).
- Installation download progress and resume through the app if setup is interrupted.
- Finish-page choices to launch WaveType and visit the developer's GitHub page (developer link unchecked).
- An uninstaller that retains models, history and dictionaries and removes only shipped files.
Setup needs internet for missing models/runtimes. Downloads are verified with pinned SHA-256 hashes. Speech processing runs locally afterwards. Smart cleanup stays disabled until enabled in the tray or Settings, even if its files were downloaded during setup. Speech/text is not uploaded by WaveType; the app you dictate into may itself sync or send the inserted text. History is readable local JSON. See privacy details.
Preview status: this package is unsigned. No trusted signing certificate was available. Defender/SmartScreen approval is not claimed. Keep Windows security protections enabled; do not add antivirus exclusions. Report a detection rather than bypassing it.
The source was reviewed, Python syntax and Ruff checks passed, app/engine x64 PE architecture and bundle contents were checked, and PyInstaller/NSIS compilation succeeded with NSIS warnings treated as errors. No tests, app launch, installation/uninstallation, clean-VM or runtime network-capture checks were performed for this release pass, as requested by the project owner. Earlier development checks do not validate this exact installer.
The installer is approximately 13.8 MB; models download separately. Verify it against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt. Third-party notices, dependency licenses, build information and a file-hash manifest are included in the installation. Project-code license selection and applicable rights for the supplied Lordicon PRO asset remain owner responsibilities; the third-party assets retain their own licenses.
Development was promoted through two substantive merged PRs: desktop app and installer.
