A fix for Circle to ask.

⭕ Circle to ask sees your picture. On some PCs, Sidekick answered a circled question without ever looking at the picture, and made something up. Now the picture always reaches an AI that can see it.

☁️ Using the AI on your PC? It can't read pictures, so Sidekick sends circled pictures to Clueless Cloud instead. The card tells you before you press Send, and nothing goes until you do.

Clueless 0.2.5 for Windows

What's new in 0.2.5

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

Open more of your course files, and a lighter Clueless on your PC.

📄 Word, PowerPoint and Excel open right inside Clueless. Lecture slides, readings and spreadsheets from your courses now show in a tab, no Office needed: Word as a readable page, PowerPoint slide by slide, Excel as tables (dates included). Want the original? Open with default app is still at the top.

🪶 A lighter start. When your PC starts, Clueless now waits quietly in the tray with Sidekick, instead of opening its whole window. Open it from Sidekick or the tray icon whenever you need it.

🖱️ No more laggy mouse. Right after starting your PC, the mouse could feel slow and "floaty" for a minute. Fixed.

🔋 Easier on your battery. When Clueless is closed or minimized, it stops drawing in the background. (Want Sidekick's face to stay still too? Turn off Animation effects in Windows Settings → Accessibility → Visual effects.)

Clueless 0.2.4 for Windows

What's new in 0.2.4

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

Two things Mac students have had, now on your PC too.

⭕ Circle to ask. Press Win+Alt+C in any app, or choose Circle on Sidekick's card, and drag round anything on your screen: a question, a graph, a line of code. Sidekick shows you the picture and asks before it goes anywhere. Press Esc to stop. The glow's colour is in Settings → Account.

🎙️ Hold to talk. Hold Win+Alt in any app and talk to Sidekick; let go to send. Drag round something while you're holding to ask about it in the same breath. Press Esc to cancel. A small bar at the top of your screen shows when Sidekick is listening (make it bigger in Settings → Account → Voice pop-up). It listens on your PC, so your voice never leaves it.

🫧 Sidekick stops stealing focus. When it appears, the app you're working in keeps the keyboard.

Clueless 0.2.3 for Windows

What's new in 0.2.3

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

A fix for everyone who brings their own AI to Clueless.

🤖 Claude Code works on Windows. If you installed Claude Code (or Codex, or OpenCode) with npm, Clueless could see it but never run it, so every question sent to it failed straight away. Now Ask uses it, just like on a Mac.

🔑 Signing in works too. In Settings → AI engine, choose Sign in on the Claude or Codex tab (Connect providers for OpenCode). A window opens and the sign-in page appears in your browser. If something goes wrong, the window stays open and tells you why.

What's new in 0.2.2

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

A big one: Windows catches up to everything new on the Mac, and Clueless learns to listen.

Meet Sidekick.

🫧 Sidekick, anywhere on your PC. A small Clueless face waits at the top right of your screen, over whatever app you're in. Hover it to ask a question, see what Clueless is working on, or jump back into the app. It steps aside while Clueless itself is in front.

🔁 Clueless keeps running. Closing the window tucks Clueless away instead of quitting, so Sidekick stays with you. Open it again from the Start menu or the taskbar's hidden icons. To quit, right-click the Clueless icon there and choose Quit Clueless. Clueless now also opens when you sign in to your PC; turn that off in Settings → Account.

Talk instead of type.

🎙️ Dictation. Click the mic in Ask or in Sidekick, speak, and click it again. Your words land in the box for you to check before you send. It understands Thai and English (it follows your keyboard language) and runs entirely on your PC, so your voice never leaves it. The first time, it downloads its speech model (about 240 MB).

Ask finds what you mean.

🔎 Name the file. Say which handout or file you mean, even roughly, and Ask reads that one instead of searching your whole course. Ask for a page ("p.7", "slide 7", "หน้า 7") and it reads that page.

🧭 Your own AI keeps working. If you use Claude CLI or your own key under Settings → AI engine, Ask uses it too, so a Clueless Cloud hiccup never stops your questions.

Made for Windows.

⌨️ Keyboard shortcuts work. Ctrl does what ⌘ does on the Mac: Ctrl+K searches everything, Ctrl+N opens New, Ctrl+T a new tab, Ctrl+1–5 jump between Ask, Home, Files, Calendar and Grades. The calculator is Ctrl+Shift+X, so Ctrl+X still cuts. Tap Ctrl on its own to see them all.

🛡️ No accidental reloads. F5 and Ctrl+R used to reload the whole app and lose what was on screen. They don't any more.

🔒 "Keep PDF processing on this PC" really does. The switch in Settings → Privacy was saved but never used, so your PDFs could still go to the cloud with it on. Now it keeps them on your PC.

🧮 A steadier calculator. A hard problem can no longer freeze the rest of Clueless while it works it out.

✨ A tidier Settings and Home. Settings has a page for each topic, and Home keeps your widgets where you put them.

Install

1. Download Clueless_0.2.2_x64-setup.exe.
2. Run it. It installs over any earlier build and asks for no administrator rights. Windows SmartScreen may warn that the app isn't recognised: choose More info → Run anyway (the build isn't code-signed yet).
3. Launch from the Start menu. Your courses and settings carry over; the first launch updates your data to the new version.

Requirements: Windows 11 64-bit, ~8 GB free (about 550 MB for the app, ~4.5 GB more if you install the on-device AI model, ~240 MB for dictation's speech model).

Clueless 0.2.1 for Windows

What's new in 0.2.1

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

A quick fix for students at Macquarie, and for opening files on a PC.

Macquarie works properly now.

📥 Your iLearn files download. Clueless listed your unit files but most of them never came down to your PC, so Ask could only see one or two. Sync iLearn once and the rest download. If a file still can't come down, the iLearn panel now tells you why.

🎓 eStudent signs in. The eStudent sign-in window opened grey. It now opens the sign-in page, so your timetable and exams come in.

Files open on a PC.

📂 Open any file. Slides, readings and pictures open in the app you'd use for them, like PowerPoint or Word. Open in a file's menu (or the Space bar) does the same. Code, archives and unfamiliar files show up in File Explorer so you choose what opens them.

What's new in 0.2.0

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

This is the biggest Windows update yet. It brings Windows up to everything the Mac version has gained since 0.1.19, which is a lot, and makes the new look work properly on a PC. Clueless for Windows now has its own version number, so Settings → About shows 0.2.0.

Get ready for exams.

📅 Exam mode. Pick an exam and Clueless builds a study plan up to the day, with cards for each step and steps that tick themselves off as you study. Plans sit in a new Exams section in the sidebar, show your readiness on Home, and put study steps on your Calendar. You can set your own scope, and exams in the same week share the time sensibly.

🃏 Flashcards from your files. Make an AI deck from any course file, flip through it, or play a matching game.

A calculator that shows its work.

🧮 A real calculator. A rebuilt calculator that works like a physical scientific one, plus a typed calculator that shows checked steps. It floats over whatever page you are on.

Ask does more.

💬 New ways to study. Quiz, Examiner and Explain modes, plus Projects, Artifacts and Schedules.

📊 Diagrams and graphs. Ask draws them when they help, including step-through diagrams.

🔎 It finds what you mean. Name a course or a file and Ask finds it, and it sees the timetable you edited.

⏰ Honest limits. When you hit a limit, Clueless tells you which one and exactly when it resets, and can send your question when it does.

A new look.

🌾 Three looks. Glass, Dark and Light, with wallpapers in every mode: Grasslands, Dot matrix, Reeded glass, and Motion, a moving grassland. Turn on Glass and Animate wallpaper in Settings for the full effect.

🏠 Home widgets. Rearrange, resize and add widgets the way you would on a phone's home screen, including Live tiles and Notifications.

🗓️ A better Calendar. Edit class times, drag them, and change one week or every week from then on.

🎓 More of your course. A Course at a glance page for each syllabus, grades as diagrams, a cleaner Inbox, and documents you write in Clueless.

🏫 More universities. Macquarie University joins, with iLearn, eStudent and lecture transcripts. MyCourseVille now finds and downloads every file, and notices when an announcement changes a date or a room.

Made for Windows.

🪟 The new look, done right on a PC. It stays sharp and fully drawn when you minimize, maximize or resize, and the grassland behind the app is clear and moving, just like on the Mac.

🎬 The moving grassland plays on every PC, with no extra video add-on from Microsoft needed.

🤖 Your on-device AI stays. Clueless for Windows keeps the free AI that runs on your own PC. The model you already downloaded carries over when you sign in, and you can pick it for study and digests (On this PC).

🧮 Fair on slower PCs. The calculator gives itself time to start up before it starts counting.

⚠️ Back up before you install

0.2.0 moves your saved data to a newer format the first time it opens, and the first time you sign in it moves it into a folder of its own for your account. Coming from 0.1.19, the upgrade has been checked on a real library with nothing lost. Coming from 0.1.13 or earlier, it's covered by our automated tests but hasn't been tried on a real library yet. Either way, an older build can't open the data afterwards. Before installing, copy this folder somewhere safe:

Paste that into the File Explorer address bar. If your library looks wrong afterwards, put the folder back and let us know.

If part of the window ever looks blank

The new glass look needs more of your graphics card's memory than the old one, and it has been tested on one PC so far. If a card, the sidebar or the background ever shows up blank, turn off Glass in Settings and tell us which PC you're on.

"Check for updates" never finds anything	Deliberate. There's no Windows update feed yet, so new builds come from this page.
Clueport is partly broken	Deferred. Reveal a generated kit and Submit by email don't work on Windows yet.
The grassland is still	Animate wallpaper is off in Settings. Turn it on for the moving one.

Clueless 0.1.13 for Windows

What's new in 0.1.13 for Windows

Hello from the Clueless team 👋

This is the Windows build brought back in line with the Mac. The port had drifted onto an older version of the app, so instead of patching over the gap we re-imported the current Mac tree and re-applied every Windows fix on top of it.

Please read the upgrade note before you install.

If you already have Clueless installed, back up first

This build has only been tested as a fresh install. Before installing, copy this folder somewhere safe:

Paste that path into the File Explorer address bar. If anything looks wrong after upgrading, put the folder back and tell us.
