Opening Subline for the first time. This version isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS warns that it can't check it.

  1. Download Subline-arm64.dmg (Apple silicon) or Subline-x64.dmg (Intel), open it and drag Subline to Applications.
  2. Open Subline. When macOS says it can't verify the app, click Done.
  3. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to Subline, then confirm.

You do this once per version. Subline tells you when a new version is out: download it and replace the app in Applications. Your library, settings and license stay as they are.

First public release.

  • Free for 7 days, then a license. The trial needs no account, no card and no internet. After it, buy Subline once on the Subline store (Polar) to use it on up to 3 Macs, or enter a complimentary license. Settings › License shows the days left or your license, and can deactivate this Mac so you can move to a new one. Licenses are checked about once a day and keep working offline for 30 days. When the trial ends without a license, the app shows a lock screen where you can still export your data.
  • Export everything (Settings › General, and on the lock screen): every transcript as Markdown, in folders that mirror your library, plus your vocabulary as an Anki-friendly CSV.
  • Update notices. Subline checks for new versions every few hours and shows "Subline X is available · Download" in the sidebar and in Settings › Advanced. Subline › Check for Updates… checks right away.
  • Apple silicon and Intel downloads.
  • This version isn't notarized by Apple yet. The first time you open it, allow it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway.
  • For developers: a release pipeline that signs and notarizes as soon as the Apple secrets are added, the hardened runtime and Electron fuses, the website in site/, and pnpm license:comp for complimentary licenses.
