Latest PDF First

Double-click a Zotero parent item to open its most recently added available PDF.

For example, use pdf2zh to generate a bilingual PDF and add it as a new attachment under the original paper. The next time you double-click the parent item, Latest PDF First opens the bilingual PDF automatically. You do not need to open the attachment first or select it manually each time.

Selection is based on when the attachment was added to Zotero, not when it was last opened or modified. Adding another PDF later makes that newer attachment take priority.

• Supports stored attachments and linked local files.
• Skips missing PDFs and falls back to Zotero's normal behavior if none are available.
• Double-clicking a PDF attachment itself still opens that specific file.
• Does not change attachment dates, paths, filenames, or display order.
• Version 1.0.1 fixes a missing manifest field that prevented installation.

Install: Download the .xpi file, then select Tools → Plugins → gear icon → Install Plugin From File in Zotero. No extraction or configuration is needed.

Compatibility: Declared support for Zotero 10.0–10.999.999, targeting 10.0.6. All 23 automated tests pass; installation and GUI testing on Windows Zotero 10.0.6 are still pending, so this is a prerelease. Updates must be installed manually.
