OpenDawngateServer v0.15, built by this repository's build workflow from commit ef2bc62.

  • v0.15.zip: Windows 10/11 64-bit. Start-Server.exe runs a server, Start-Client.exe plays. Put your own Dawngate.zip (archive.org) next to Start-Server.exe; the release contains no game file. See README.txt in the zip.
  • v0.15-linux.tar.gz: the same server for a 64-bit Linux machine (start-server, its match hosts under Wine).
  • Players and servers play together only on the same release: update both to this one.
  • The programs are unsigned (SmartScreen: More info, Run anyway; Code signing policy).
  • BUILD.txt in each archive names the commit it was built from (the source, AGPL-3.0).

Skill rating

  • Every player now has a skill rating (Glicko-2, like chess). Everyone starts at 1500.
  • Only even games count: PvP and custom games with the same number of human players on both teams. Practice and bot-only games don't.
  • After 10 rated games your rating shows in the main menu's profile box and on your tile in the custom lobby.
  • The Leaderboard now ranks by rating (new Rating column, at least 10 rated games). Ratings were calculated from every game since Oct 31, so the list is short for now and fills up as you play.

Custom lobby

  • New READY button for everyone in the lobby. The tiles show who is ready, and the host's START GAME waits until everyone is.
  • BALANCE now splits the teams by rating.

For server hosts

  • Please update, these are security fixes. Back up Dawngate-Data/data/accounts.db first: v0.15 upgrades it on its first start, and v0.14 can't read it afterwards.
  • New Start-Server.ini keys: rating_leaderboard and show_rating (both on), and issues (off): an optional "Check the rules" page on your server's website, where players say whether our reconstructed rules match the original game, with video proof.
