SplitTrack 1.1.0
Changed
- New layout. Library and Settings are now tabs at the top of the window, and the recorder is a bar along the bottom edge instead of a card above them.
- The recorder bar shows the state at a glance: a coloured line along its top (green for the replay buffer, red while recording, amber on an error), the state and what the buffer holds on the left, and the Replay buffer switch, Record and Save clip in one row on the right, with their hotkeys inside the buttons. While recording, the elapsed time and file size sit beside the state and the dot pulses.
- Every audio track has its own colour by kind (game, app, mic, system), shown on its level meter, in the player and in Settings, so a track looks the same everywhere. A silent track's meter is dimmed.
- The library filters with an All / Clips / Recordings control, and its cards fill the window's width. Hovering or selecting a card shows Show in folder and Delete. An empty library says how to save your first clip.
- Settings are grouped into cards with hints under each field, and use switches for on/off options. The save bar only appears when something actually changed, and goes away again if you change it back.
- Presets are easier to follow: the picker is labelled Preset, the cards that belong to the selected preset are marked with a rail, and a preset you can make the default says Make default.
- In the player, the part to export shows as a band on the seek bar, the trim buttons read "Start 0:20.0" and "End 1:00.0", and times no longer jitter while playing.
- One theme and palette across the app, in light and dark mode. Toasts say what happened in their title.
Install
Download SplitTrack-Setup-v1.1.0.exe and run it. It installs over 1.0.0 and keeps your settings and recordings. Quit SplitTrack first if it's running.
SplitTrack 1.0.0
Changed
- Discord (and any other app track) is no longer heard twice when you mix it with System. While an app track records, System now records every other program on its own and leaves the game and the app tracks out.
- New Leave app tracks out switch on the System track in Settings (on by default). Turn it off to record everything except the game in System again, app tracks included. Use it if Windows sounds matter more to you than hearing Discord twice (see below).
- Export only warns that System also contains Discord when it really does.
Fixed
- Clips no longer sound gargled in the player: the tiny click every few milliseconds on every track is gone.
- A program that has played a sound stays in System until it closes, so repeated short notifications (Discord, Slack) are recorded in full instead of losing their start.
- System no longer freezes when Windows' audio service hiccups.
- A game that restarts is picked up again quickly, even while several other programs are joining System.
Known limits
While Leave app tracks out is on and an app track records, System may miss:
- Windows' own sounds (error and notification dings), because Windows doesn't say which program plays them.
- Sounds from programs that started the game, such as Windows Explorer.
- The first fraction of a second of a program's very first sound.
Install
Download SplitTrack-Setup-v1.0.0.exe and run it. It installs over 0.7.0 and keeps your settings and recordings. Quit SplitTrack first if it's running.
