v1.0.1
Void Deck 1.0.1
A fix for 1.0.0.
- Settings are kept again. In 1.0.0 every restart brought back the default settings: theme, Home screen, notification style, screensaver and weather city were all forgotten. Your choices now survive Steam and Decky restarts as intended.
Update: if you're on 1.0.0, open the Void Deck panel and press Update to v1.0.1. On older versions: Decky → ⚙ → Developer → Install Plugin from URL, and paste the link to VoidDeck-v1.0.1.zip below.
v1.0.0
Void Deck 1.0
Void Deck now covers the whole Steam Deck experience, from Home to the screensaver, and it is polished enough to call 1.0.
Notifications, restyled. Achievements unlock as a dot that stretches into a pill with the trophy inside, then folds back into the corner. Friend notifications (in game, online) use the same pill with the friend's avatar and a status dot. A panel toggle brings back Steam's own style.
A screensaver of widgets. Steam's slideshow of your games is replaced with a large dot-matrix clock, the date, the battery as a row of dots and the weather for a city you pick in the panel (powered by Open-Meteo). It follows Steam's 12/24-hour setting, and there is a button to preview it.
Updates from the panel. When a new version is released, the Void Deck panel shows Update available: one press and Decky installs it. This is the last time you need to install by URL.
Also new
- Your settings are kept across restarts.
- The light theme now inverts the whole interface, so Steam's own white titles and icons no longer disappear on the light background.
- A new plugin icon: a V drawn in dots.
- The reset to defaults button is gone: with so few settings it wasn't needed.
Thanks to @endoflineservice for keeping settings across restarts.

v0.2.2
Void Deck 0.2.2 — lighter and easier on the battery
A performance release. Nothing changes visually.
- Cheaper Home animation. The light sweep across the dot grid is now handled by the GPU instead of being redrawn every frame, and it rests between passes. On my Deck it went from about 21% to 7% of a CPU core.
- Paused while you play. The Home animation stops whenever a game is running, so it never competes with the game in the background.
- No more background process. Void Deck no longer ships an unused Python backend, so Decky doesn't start (or have to kill) an extra process, and restarts are faster.
- Half the download. The release zip dropped from 227 KB to 120 KB.
Install / update: Decky → ⚙ → Developer → Install Plugin from URL, and paste the link to VoidDeck-v0.2.2.zip below. It replaces the previous version.
v0.2.1
What's new in Void Deck 0.2.1
English and Spanish. The whole plugin interface is now available in English and Spanish, with a language selector in the Void Deck panel. English is the default.
Steam Settings, restyled. The Settings page (System, Internet, Display…) now follows the Void Deck look: monospaced page list with a dot marking the current page, ruled setting rows and dot-matrix sliders.
A living Home screen. A band of light now sweeps slowly across the dot grid behind the featured game. The dots never move, they only light up.
More panel options: reset to defaults, a version entry with a link to the release notes, and guidance when no games are installed.
Fixes
- Opening Quick Access or the main menu while a game is running no longer covers the game with a black background.
- The status bar shown in Quick Access during a game now matches the panel instead of Steam's blue.
- Long game titles on Home scale down across four sizes, and the last row of the dot-matrix font is no longer clipped.
- Turning off the Home screen while you're on it now takes you to the Library.
Thanks to @endoflineservice for the English localization, the Steam Settings styling and the Home title refinements.
Install / update: Decky → ⚙ → Developer → Install Plugin from URL, and paste the link to VoidDeck-v0.2.1.zip below. It replaces the previous version.
v0.2.0
What's new in Void Deck 0.2.0
Game details, restyled. The page you land on when you open a game now speaks the Void Deck language:
- The header art fills the whole screen, with the Play bar right above the button hints. Scroll down to reveal the Activity / Your Stuff / Community / Game Info tabs.
- The green Play button is now a white pill with the (A) glyph. Install, Update, Stop and every other state keep working exactly as before — only the look changes.
- Last played, playtime and required space are shown in dot-matrix numbers.
- Pure black background (no more blurred copy of the header tinting the page) and flat dark sections.
Dot dissolve transition. Leaving the Home screen, the next screen appears through a grid of growing dots. It's also faster: about 0.6 s instead of Steam's ~1 s.
Smaller fixes
- Home tabs trimmed to Home, Library and Friends.
- The focus ring around the selected Quick Access tab is no longer clipped.
Install / update: Decky → ⚙ → Developer → Install Plugin from URL, and paste the link to VoidDeck-v0.2.0.zip below. It replaces the previous version.
