v0.44.0 — 2026-09-28

Added

  • Shift+Scroll is the browser's horizontal scroll again (#40). Every
browser turns Shift+wheel into a horizontal scroll before the page sees
it, and both viewers took it for zoom. The three scroll slots — plain,
Shift, ⌘ — are now independent, for the board and the PDF alike, in
Settings ▸ Input and on the start page. A fresh install gets Shift = Pan,
⌘ = Zoom; an existing install keeps the layout it had, and the start page
    offers the one-click switch.
  • Butterfly works on layered boards. KiCad, Allegro, Altium and EAGLE
boards showed the button and it did nothing. Traces, vias and copper
pours are hidden while Butterfly is on — they belong to the board as a
whole, not to a side — and a toast says so.
  • A board loading in the background says so. Opening a second board
freezes the page while its scene is built — a second or more on a
tablet, during which a finger on the glass gets no answer at all. A
"Loading …" banner now sits at the top of the board area from the moment
the file is opened until the new board is on screen, and it is painted
    before the freeze begins.
  • Edge smoothing has a switch. Settings ▸ Performance & Debug ▸ Edge
smoothing (MSAA), on by default. Off saves GPU work on a machine that
cannot afford it, at the price of jagged thin lines.
  • A legacy web build for older iPads. iPadOS 15.4–16.3 gets its own
    build at ripperdoc.de/boardripper/legacy-web, and a supported-devices
page lists browsers, iPads and iPhones by model. A browser below the
floor now sees a message with the minimum versions instead of a blank
    page.

Fixed

  • Allegro v15: real pin numbers, no invented parts. A third 15.5.x
sub-variant (Jasper_Kronos) drove a rewrite of the pad walk. Pads come
from the pad ring with the pin numbers the file carries — the old walk
invented 1..n in file order, which swapped pins 1↔3 on every SOT-23 and
1↔2 on every diode — and drawing symbols no longer become empty parts
that blew up the board bounds. Against Allegro's own v17 re-save of the
same board: 7982 of 7982 pins, 7910 nets agree, none disagree.
  • PDF fonts, CJK maps and image decoders are actually shipped. The
URLs pdf.js was given for its character maps, standard fonts and wasm
decoders pointed at nothing in every build; only the dev server worked.
PDFs with non-embedded fonts or JPEG 2000 / JBIG2 images render now.
  • Tapping a part right after flicking the board selects it. With inertia
on, a tap while the board was still gliding stopped the glide but selected
nothing, which read as "sometimes a tap can't select a component". A tap
during the glide now selects the part under it.
  • The touch context menu opens on the iPad. Press and hold a part. iOS
used to answer the same hold with its own callout and cancel the touch.
The first board opened on a touch screen says so once.
  • Lines on a tablet are smooth again. The touch performance profile
turned off edge smoothing for the board, which left every thin line —
the board outline first of all — jagged and at an uneven width. Edge
smoothing stays on; the profile keeps its 60 FPS cap and 1.5× render
    resolution ceiling.
  • The Silkscreen toggle works while Butterfly is on. Butterfly moves the
bottom silkscreen out of the shared silkscreen layer to mirror it with the
bottom half, and the toggle stopped reaching it there — the silk came on
with Butterfly and could not be turned off.
  • The "gpu idle" readout is gone from the debug HUD. The value it read
is cleared every frame, so it never showed anything.
