3D CAD (STEP/STL) for AIND Modular Insertion System to enable 3D printing

Hello AIND MIS team,

We’d like to fabricate parts of the Modular Insertion System (MIS) for internal, non-commercial research. The GitHub repo currently shows “drawings” (PDF) and documentation, but we couldn’t find downloadable 3D CAD (e.g., STEP/IGES/SLDPRT) or printer-ready STL files.

Could you please share 3D source files, or provide access/links? (preferred format: STEP; STL for printable parts is also great)

Hi there -- we are still working on assembling all of the 3D source files, we will make those available soon. That said, there are no 3D printed parts in this system; almost all of the custom parts must be machined from aluminum.

Can you describe your use case in more detail? That will help us understand which components are needed, and whether it makes sense for you to fabricate them yourself vs. purchase them from New Scale Technologies.

Hi, thanks for your reply!! We’re planning to use your framework for implanting flexible electrodes, and we’re thinking of 3D-printing part of the framework first to run some preliminary tests. If everything goes well, we might later switch to aluminum machining.
