Hey there!

This is the first public release of ariaWatch yet. It is a terminal based UI that monitors your already-running aria2 server and shows downloads with progress tracking, remaining size and status.

There are a lot of things planned for this project, and it is a first release so it has some very rough edges. It just "works" right now just as a simple read-only monitor, with more features and controls coming in future.

Right now, it can show these:

  • Live download table with progress, speed, remaining size and status.
  • HTTP JSON-RPC and WebSocket lifecycle notifications
  • Automatic snapshot reconcilation and WebSocket reconnection
  • File-based diagnostic logging with log rotation
  • Configurable RPC endpoints and optional authentication secret.

Requirements: Rust 2024-compatible toolchain and an existing aria2 instance with JSON-RPC enabled.

Known Limitations: Waiting and stopped download snapshots are limited to 1000 entries each. ariaWatch monitors downloads but does not provide download-management actions (as i said before).

This release only provides the source code, so you would need to compile it yourself. In future releases, i will provide a binary as well as install instructions, and maybe even push it to the AUR.
