Plume Media Offload 0.3.5

The project site and documentation moved to https://plume.arunprakashg.com. The old usenimbus.dev address redirects there. Admin documentation links and the Plugin URI point at the new address.

Plume Media Offload 0.3.4

The plugin is now called Plume Media Offload (formerly Nimbus). Folder and text domain are plume-media-offload.

Upgrading from Nimbus or Nimbus Media Offload: install this version, deactivate the old copy on the Plugins screen, then activate this one. It keeps the same settings. Remove the old folder over SFTP rather than with the Delete button, which would also erase the shared settings.

  • Media Library offload and restore actions now check edit permission on the attachment.
  • Rewritten content image URLs are escaped.
  • The delete-remote-files setting is saved as a proper boolean.
  • External services are documented in the readme.
  • AWS SDK updated to 3.401.5.

Nimbus is now called Nimbus Media Offload in WordPress, ready for the WordPress.org plugin directory.

Changed

  • The plugin name is Nimbus Media Offload, and the plugin folder and text domain are nimbus-media-offload. The release ZIP is named the same way. Settings, offloaded files and the Media → Nimbus page are unchanged.
  • If an older copy is still active, the new copy waits and shows a notice instead of loading twice.

Upgrading from 0.3.2 or earlier

Uploading this ZIP installs it next to the old nimbus folder. Deactivate the old Nimbus, activate Nimbus Media Offload, then remove the old wp-content/plugins/nimbus folder over SFTP or SSH. Do not use Delete on the old copy: its uninstall cleanup would remove the settings both copies share. See Upgrading from 0.3.2 or earlier.

Install

Download nimbus-media-offload-0.3.3.zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.1+.

Set up storage by pasting one token or key. Nimbus creates the bucket and fills in the settings for you.

Added

  • Quick connect in the setup wizard. Paste one token, key or line of command output and Nimbus creates the bucket, sets it up for public media, fills in the settings and runs an upload test. Works with every provider; Backblaze B2, Wasabi and DigitalOcean Spaces also get a new key limited to the media bucket. See Setup wizard.
  • Docs and donate links next to Nimbus on the Plugins screen.

Changed

  • Tested with WordPress 7.1.

Install

Download nimbus-0.3.2.zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.1+.

Your storage keys are now encrypted in the database. Nothing to set up: existing keys are encrypted the next time an admin opens the dashboard.

Fixed

  • Storage credentials (access key, secret key, session token and Cloudflare API token) are encrypted in the database, using your site's security keys or a NIMBUS_ENCRYPTION_KEY constant. See How credentials are stored.
  • The notice shown before deactivating Nimbus points to the restore job and wp nimbus revert, instead of a Tools panel that did not exist.

Install

Download nimbus-0.3.1.zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.1+.

A new look for the plugin admin and a more permissive license. Your settings and offloaded files carry over unchanged.

Changed

  • Relicensed under the MIT License.
  • New Nimbus brand across the admin: a header with connection status, a reworked overview and a guided setup wizard.
  • The setup wizard tests a connection with the values on screen before you save them.
  • Fonts and provider logos ship with the plugin, so the admin makes no external requests.
  • The bundled AWS SDK now includes only the S3 client, so the plugin zip is 1.6 MB.

Install

Download nimbus-0.3.0.zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.1+.
