Description

This client release updates polkadot-sdk dependencies to stable2603 (and the corresponding Frontier version).

Upgrade priority: HIGH

Both collator and archive/RPC nodes must be upgraded alongside runtime-2600. Older binaries remain consensus-compatible for a short window, but cannot generate the session key proofs the new runtime requires.

Operator-facing changes:

  • Session keys: new author_rotateKeysWithOwner RPC returns the keys and the ownership proof that session.setKeys now requires. It replaces author_rotateKeys.
  • Network failures: the node now exits if its network backend stops, instead of running without peers. Make sure your service manager restarts it.
  • Sync: non-archive nodes no longer download block bodies during gap sync, which reduces bandwidth and database size. Warp sync also gets fixes for Unknown parent import errors and post-sync stalls.
  • EVM RPC: transactions larger than 128 KiB are rejected. eth_call state overrides are improved, and setting both state and stateDiff for one account now returns an error.
