Note

This APK is for new installations and manual updates. If you installed Aster Mail from Google Play, it updates automatically. Aster-Mail.apk and Aster-Mail-1.0.15-full.apk are the same signed build: the first always points to the newest release and the second pins this version. Aster-Mail-fdroid-1.0.15.apk is the build F-Droid distributes.

What's new

  • When you sign in, you can choose Keep me signed in, and your session lasts 30 days.
  • Swipe left or right in the reader to move to the next or previous message.
  • New mail plays the Aster notification sound.
  • Connected external accounts show their sync status in Settings.

Fixed

  • The app crashes and freezes less often, especially when it starts in the background or opens compose.
  • Older mail stays readable after you change or reset your password, and recovered keys are kept on the device.
  • Mail you delete on another device disappears here too, and you can undo discarding a draft.
  • Quoted text, inline images, attachments, and web links open reliably, and remote images are no longer cached on disk.

Verify the APK

Every Aster Mail APK in this release is signed with the Aster release certificate. Before you install one, check that its signing certificate matches this fingerprint.

To check a downloaded APK on a computer, run apksigner verify --print-certs Aster-Mail.apk from the Android SDK build tools. The certificate SHA-256 digest line shows the same value in lowercase without colons. To check the app on your phone, use a verification app such as AppVerifier.

If you install Aster Mail from Google Play, Google Play signs it with its own key, so that copy has a different fingerprint: C2:0D:A2:1D:DA:9D:35:45:26:75:34:19:11:B0:01:E5:32:80:B5:C8:91:AB:90:9B:13:BF:27:63:77:40:A6:AF
