3MF Katalog Manager demo

⚠️ Release candidate – back up your catalog first / Vorab-Version – bitte zuerst den Katalog sichern

English

This is a pre-release of 3MF Katalog Manager 0.18.0 (release candidate 2). The stable download stays 0.17.2 on https://3mfkatalog.de.

New since release candidate 1

  • Settings completely reworked — five tabs (General · Catalog · Slicers & services · Maintenance · Info) with titled sections, a wider panel, honest loading and error states ("Loading setting …", "The setting could not be loaded." with a "Reload" button), clearer words, and better operation by keyboard and screen reader.
  • Print bed check per plate — for 3MF files with several plates the check, the size display and the "Fits on" filter now use the size of each plate instead of the whole workspace. Before, a file whose every plate fits could be reported as "does not fit". Older entries show "Size unknown" until you use "Rescan metadata".
  • "Open in slicer" (web) with Bambu Studio on macOS — it did nothing there before; now it works, with a short hint about Bambu Studio's trust prompt and the Network plug-in.
  • Your view is kept — the chosen view (grid, folder, list) stays after a restart or signing in again.
  • Bundle panel — now the same width as the model panel.
  • Dragging files out, easier to tell apart — the card's drag-out handle has its own symbol (an arrow leaving a frame) and both handles on the card have tooltips. The switch sits at the top of Settings → Slicers & services → "Passing files on", and under Windows a note explains that a slicer running as administrator blocks dropping.
  • Thingiverse — the hit list says "License: see details" instead of suggesting that none is stated (Thingiverse only gives the license in the detail view).
  • Fixes from the virtual machine acceptance — buttons that overlapped, the overlay now dims the app, the panel docks from 1000 px, long names in the comfort panel.
  • Web version — README now covers HTTPS behind a reverse proxy (KATALOG_TRUST_PROXY=1), certificates and the tested versions.

Everything from release candidate 1 (print data, G-code and resin files, bundles, Printer Manager, slicer reports, STEP parts, "Open with" and more) is included; see the changelog.

Who should update?

Everyone who tests release candidate 1, and everyone who wants to try 0.18.0. This is a pre-release: please read the notes below first.

  • Back up first: Settings → Catalog → "Export catalog". The new version converts your catalog to a newer database schema (64: from release candidate 1, which is at schema 63, it is one step; from 0.17.x it is the whole way up to 64 in one update). Before that the app saves a copy to the folder update-backups. An older version can no longer open the migrated catalog (it leaves it unchanged and tells you so). Going back to 0.17.x or to release candidate 1 is only possible with that backup.
  • It uses your real catalog (same app identifier as the stable version).
  • Update channel: Settings → Info → "Receive pre-releases (release candidates)". Switch it off to stay on stable.

Please test

  • Settings: go through all five tabs, also with the keyboard; narrow the window below 1000 px and check that the panel opens over the view.
  • Print bed: a 3MF with several plates (for example from Bambu Studio): does the check per plate match your printer? Use "Rescan metadata" on older entries.
  • View: choose list or folder view, restart the app, and check that it is still there.
  • Dragging files out (optional): switch it on under Settings → Slicers & services → "Passing files on", use the handle with the new arrow symbol at the bottom right of the card (dragging the card itself only moves it inside the catalog) and tell us the system, the file manager or slicer and whether the file arrived.
  • Web version (if you use it): "Open in slicer" with Bambu Studio on macOS.

Known limitations

  • Dragging files out is still experimental and off by default. It works into the file manager and onto the desktop on Windows (not if the slicer runs as administrator), macOS and Linux. On Linux, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and simple text editors do not accept the file (a known error of the library we use; a fix is planned).
  • Older multi-plate entries show "Size unknown" until you use "Rescan metadata".
  • The chosen view (list, folders, grid) is remembered from this version on; after updating from RC1, select it once again.
  • Not code-signed: Windows SmartScreen / your antivirus and macOS Gatekeeper warn on first launch. Windows: "More info" → "Run anyway" (Edge: "Keep" → "Keep anyway"). macOS: on macOS 15 open System Settings → Privacy & Security → "Open Anyway" (this asks for an administrator password); on older versions right-click the app → Open. See "Is it safe to install?" in the README.
  • The Spanish and French texts of the new features were written by the model and have not been checked by native speakers.
  • The web version is still a pre-release.
  • Windows: besides the MSI there is the optional Setup installer (…-Windows-x64-Setup.exe, no administrator rights). Before you switch between MSI and Setup, uninstall the other variant under Windows Settings → Apps. Windows shows the MSI version as 0.18.0.6.
  • Small things still open from the acceptance: a click on the dimmed area next to the Settings overlay does not close it (use Escape or the close button), and with the panel docked the selection bar can be cut off at the edge.

Please report problems via Settings → Info → "Report a bug" or on GitHub.

Docker images

Two Docker images belong to this release candidate (moving tag rc, also tagged 0.18.0-6; there is no latest tag for pre-releases):

  • Streamed desktop (the full app in a browser tab): ghcr.io/bexxs75/3mf-katalog-manager:rc. The desktop app runs in the container and is streamed to your browser. The workflow docker-image.yml builds and tags it when the release is published. The Compose file is attached to this release (docker-compose.yml) and lives in the repository (docker/). An existing config volume is converted to the new catalog format on the first start (a copy is saved in update-backups): back up the volume before you pull the new image.
  • Web version (preview): ghcr.io/bexxs75/3mf-katalog-manager-web:rc. It shows an existing catalog read-only in your browser, without a streamed desktop. The web server never converts a catalog: open or update it once with the desktop app (or the streamed desktop image) of the same version first. Writing and browser upload are optional and off by default (home network or VPN only). The desktop app and the web image must never use the same catalog at the same time. Compose file and instructions: docker-web/ in the repository.

Dies ist eine Vorab-Version von 3MF Katalog Manager 0.18.0 (Release Candidate 2). Der normale Download bleibt 0.17.2 auf https://3mfkatalog.de.

Neu seit Release Candidate 1

3MF Katalog Manager demo

⚠️ Release candidate – back up your catalog first / Vorab-Version – bitte zuerst den Katalog sichern

English

This is a pre-release of 3MF Katalog Manager 0.18.0 (release candidate 1). The stable download stays 0.17.2 on https://3mfkatalog.de.

Highlights

  • Print data from your slicer files — a new "Print data (from slicer)" card shows weight, material, filament use and print time per plate and in total, for 3MF and G-code files, also for PrusaSlicer projects. New filters for target printer, nozzle, layer height, print time and color, and a plate overview of every 3MF.
  • G-code and resin files in the catalog — .gcode, .bgcode and resin slicer files (.ctb, .cbddlp, .goo, .pwmx, .pwms, .sl1) become entries of their own with a badge, preview picture and the values the file states.
  • Bundles — combine variants of a model or the parts of a multi-part model into one card, with a bundle panel, create / dissolve with Undo, and suggestions for files that probably belong together (never bundled automatically).
  • Printer Manager — a statistics card (prints, success rate, print time, filament, failure reasons), an optional reason for cancelled or failed prints, API key for Klipper/Moonraker printers, a more robust connection, and the new unit type "Bambu AMS 2 Pro".
  • Slicer reports — a slicer can report a finished file to the app, so a print is linked to the right model instead of being guessed from the name (optional, off by default).
  • STEP parts — STEP files with several bodies are split into parts: show or hide each part and save parts as STL.
  • Open with — model files handed to the app by the system (command line, "Open with") open a "View only" dialog, with "Add to catalog" if you want.
  • More — duplicates shown as groups with "keep one", save 3MF / OBJ / STEP as STL, drop files onto a sidebar folder, an update notice that explains the backup and how to go back, more companion file formats, a choice between Filament / Resin / Both, "Minimize to the notification area" when closing the window, many more error messages in your language, and several fixes (see the changelog).
  • Experimental, off by default: Thingiverse search with your own API key, and dragging files out of the catalog into a slicer.

Who should update?

Everyone who wants to try the new print data, G-code and bundle features, and everyone who uses the printer connection. This is a pre-release: please read the notes below first.

  • Back up first: Settings → Catalog → "Export catalog". The new version converts your catalog to a newer database schema (63) when you update from 0.17.x. Before that the app saves a copy to the folder update-backups. An older version can no longer open the migrated catalog (it leaves it unchanged and tells you so). Going back to 0.17.x is only possible with that backup; after the update a dialog explains the steps.
  • It uses your real catalog (same app identifier as the stable version).
  • Update channel: Settings → Info → "Receive pre-releases (release candidates)". Switch it off to stay on stable.

Please test

  • Print data: open a few of your sliced 3MF and G-code files, check weight / time / material against your slicer, try the new filters and the plate overview ("Rescan metadata" or Settings → Catalog → "Read print data" reads files that were not read yet).
  • Bundles: create one from selected files, open the bundle panel, dissolve it and use Undo; look at the bundle suggestions.
  • Printer connection (if you have a printer): the statistics card, the reason for a cancelled print, history, AMS 2 Pro. Tell us which printer and firmware you use.
  • Slicer reports (optional): Settings → Slicer, switch on "Report sliced files automatically", copy the command line into your slicer's post-processing script and slice a file.
  • STEP files with several bodies: the "Parts" list and "Save as STL".
  • Update from 0.17.x: the update notice, the backup in update-backups, and that your catalog is complete afterwards.
  • Windows: the new Setup installer (see below), if you like.

The state was checked in Windows, Linux and macOS virtual machines (installation, update from 0.17.2 with catalog migration, main functions).

Known limitations

  • Experimental, off by default: dragging files out of the catalog into a slicer (Settings → Slicer). It has not been accepted on every system with a real slicer yet. Thingiverse search needs your own API key and is not yet confirmed to be permitted by Thingiverse.
  • Printer connection: history, statistics, failure reasons and AMS 2 Pro are covered by automatic tests but have not been checked against all real printers yet. Slicer reports have not been checked with real slicers yet.
  • Linux (AppImage): "Open with" in the file manager works after you integrate the AppImage yourself (for example with AppImageLauncher); the AppImage does not register itself. A file passed to the app opens the "View only" dialog only once a catalog folder is set up.
  • Windows: besides the MSI there is now an optional Setup installer (…-Windows-x64-Setup.exe, no administrator rights). Before you switch between MSI and Setup, uninstall the other variant under Windows Settings → Apps, otherwise you get two installations. The silent Setup (/S) does not delete user data. Windows shows the MSI version as 0.18.0.3.

Please report problems via Settings → Info → "Report a bug" or on GitHub.

Docker images

Two Docker images belong to this release candidate (moving tag rc, also tagged 0.18.0-3; there is no latest tag for pre-releases):

  • Streamed desktop (the full app in a browser tab): ghcr.io/bexxs75/3mf-katalog-manager:rc. The desktop app runs in the container and is streamed to your browser. The Compose file is attached to this release (docker-compose.yml) and lives in the repository (docker/). An existing config volume is converted to the new catalog format on the first start (a copy is saved in update-backups): back up the volume before you pull the new image.
  • Web version (new, preview): ghcr.io/bexxs75/3mf-katalog-manager-web:rc. A small image (about 57 MB) that shows an existing catalog read-only in your browser, without a streamed desktop. This is the first release candidate of the web version: please try it and tell us what is missing.

All changes

Added

  • STEP parts (stage A): a STEP file with several bodies is now split into one mesh per body instead of one mesh for the whole file; the splitting rules live outside the STEP feature and are covered by the standard tests. In the viewer of a cataloged STEP file a collapsible "Parts (n)" list appears: a checkbox per part shows or hides it, hovering or focusing a row tints that part in the picture, the name selects it and shows its size, "Show all" brings everything back, and the arrow keys move between the checkboxes (a screen reader hears "Part 3 of 12, shown"). The same list offers "Save Part n as STL", "Save shown parts as STL" and "Save each part as its own file …"; the last one asks for a folder and writes files named <name>_Teil<N>.stl without overwriting anything. All of it uses the existing export_model_as_stl command with the scopes parts and the new eachPart; no new command and no change to the database. Files with more than 256 bodies show the 256th entry as one collective part "Further parts". A file with a single body, files opened from outside the catalog and the small preview show no list. The STEP code itself (OCCT) is not built in the automated tests and was only compiled and read, not run, for this change. New texts in German, English, Spanish and French (Spanish and French were written by the model and not checked by native speakers).
  • Dragging into other programs (experimental, not accepted on any system): the opt-in switch remains off by default. Cards, list rows and the detail page now offer a drag handle for 3MF/STL/OBJ, including selected files; STEP points to STL export. Native dragging ignores drops into the catalog window. Each drag gets separate temporary copies under a private app/instance directory; a later drag does not delete earlier copies. A click alone does not start c...

v0.17.2 — Slicers start again from the Linux AppImage / Slicer starten wieder aus der Linux-AppImage

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 20:06

3MF Katalog Manager demo

Highlights

  • Slicers start again from the Linux AppImage — a slicer started from the app no longer inherits the AppImage's own APPDIR, APPIMAGE, ARGV0 and OWD variables. Start scripts that look for their libraries relative to APPDIR (for example the one of the orca-slicer-unstable-bin package for the Orca Slicer 2.5 release candidate) failed with "error while loading shared libraries".

Who should update?

Everyone who uses the Linux AppImage and starts a slicer from the app, especially with the Orca Slicer 2.5 release candidate from the AUR. There is no other change. The catalog database is not converted, and the app still saves a copy to update-backups before an update.

Known limitations

  • Packages are not code-signed — see "Is it safe to install?" in the README (Windows: "More info" → "Run anyway"; macOS: on macOS 15 open System Settings → Privacy & Security → “Open Anyway” — this asks for an administrator password; on older versions right-click the app → Open).

All changes

Fixed

  • Slicers (Linux AppImage): A slicer started from the AppImage no longer inherits the AppImage's own APPDIR, APPIMAGE, ARGV0 and OWD variables. Start scripts that resolve their libraries relative to APPDIR (for example the one of the orca-slicer-unstable-bin package) looked in the app's folder and failed with "error while loading shared libraries".

Highlights (Deutsch)

v0.17.1 — Fixes for slicers, file dialog and tag menu / Korrekturen bei Slicern, Dateidialog und Tag-Menü

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 21:08

3MF Katalog Manager demo

Highlights

  • Slicers can be registered again — choosing a slicer that is already registered (for example the same program picked again, or reached through a link) no longer fails with a database error; the existing entry is kept.
  • Cancelling the file dialog — "Import → Files…" no longer opens an empty import window with 0 items.
  • Tag menu — the menu of an automatic tag no longer closes by itself when it is opened right after the suggestions have loaded.

Who should update?

Everyone who registers slicers or imports files with the zenity dialog (container version, Linux without a desktop portal). These are small fixes; there is no other change.

All changes

Fixed

  • Import: Cancelling the file dialog of "Import → Files…" no longer opens an empty import window with 0 items. This happened where the app uses the zenity dialog (the container version, Linux without a desktop portal).
  • Tag menu: the menu of an automatic tag ("Remove and do not assign automatically again") no longer closes by itself when it is opened right after the model's tag suggestions have loaded.
  • Slicers: Registering a slicer that is already registered (for example the same program chosen again or reached through a link) no longer fails with a database error; the existing entry is kept.

Highlights (Deutsch)

v0.17.0 — Sources, companion files & print bed check / Quellordner, Begleitdateien & Druckbett-Prüfung

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 15:05

3MF Katalog Manager demo

Highlights

  • Source folders — set up folders like Downloads, check them for new models and move the chosen files into the catalog.
  • A catalog that follows your files — sync with disk recognises renamed and moved files and folders; rename and delete folders from the app; move several models at once, with Undo (Ctrl/Cmd+Z).
  • Companion files — attach pictures, PDFs and text files to a model; archive imports assign them automatically.
  • Print bed check — the detail view shows whether a model fits each printer, and the new "Fits on" filter narrows the catalog to what fits.
  • Material Manager — equal spools are grouped, spools can have up to four colors, and new spools start with the weight you used last.
  • Real file colors in the 3D preview for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and MakerWorld projects, with a legend.
  • Calmer interface — an always-visible selection bar, settings in the right-hand panel, and the most common error messages in your language.

Who should update?

Everyone. The catalog database is upgraded automatically (to schema version 52); the app saves a copy to update-backups first (Katalog-Sicherung_<date>_…db). Back up your catalog before updating (Settings → Catalog → "Export catalog"): an older version can no longer read the converted catalog, and going back is only possible with that copy.

Known limitations

  • The packages are not code-signed — see "Is it safe to install?" in the README (Windows: "More info" → "Run anyway"; macOS: on macOS 15 open System Settings → Privacy & Security → “Open Anyway” — this asks for an administrator password; on older versions right-click the app → Open).
  • The Docker version is experimental and in maintenance mode: only bug and security fixes, no new features.
  • Most error messages now follow the app language; a few rarer ones still appear in German.

All changes

Added

  • Sync with disk: "Select all" and "None" for the lists of new files and copies of existing models. Files skipped because their path is still held by the trash are now counted in a notice (restore them or empty the trash, then sync again); the dialog also opens when that is the only finding.
  • Automatic tags: new setting "Assign tags automatically" (Settings, Catalog; on by default). When it is off, import, folder sync and source folders assign no tags automatically. Existing tags stay; adding tags by hand and the list of blocked automatic tags keep working.
  • Import: The result dialog after an import offers to show the newly added models.
  • Accessibility: Screen readers now announce model cards and list rows with name and selection state, and the number of selected models.
  • Source folders: set up folders like Downloads, check them for new models (on request, optionally at app start) and move the chosen files into the catalog or decline them.
  • Detail view: for models downloaded from Makerworld, platform, model ID and profile ID are shown (read from the 3MF file); use 'Rescan metadata' to fill them for existing models.
  • Import: After an import, the notice offers a button to open the 'Recently added' view.
  • Folders: Rename a folder from the folder tree (context menu or F2); the folder is renamed on disk too and its models are carried along.
  • Folders: Delete a folder from the folder tree: its models move to the app trash (7 days), other files and non-empty folders stay on disk.
  • Import filenames: optional date/time prefixes (YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM_), off by default. New catalog models get collision-safe names with extension-preserving length limits; external files imported in place are not renamed. Existing entries, disk sync, backup restoration and archive extraction are unchanged.
  • Rename with date: the selection bar has a new entry "Rename with date …" that prefixes existing models with a date (YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM_), taken from the file's modified date (default) or the import date. A preview lists every old and new name first; files that already have a date, whose target name is taken, that are missing, in the trash or outside the catalog folders are skipped, and nothing is renamed before you confirm. Files are renamed on disk and in the catalog together; a failure on one file does not stop the others.
  • Sync with disk: files that were renamed or moved outside the app (for example in the file manager, including a renamed folder) are recognised by their identical content and offered as "Renamed or moved", ticked by default. Applying keeps the existing catalog entry with its tags, favourite, notes, print log and collections instead of creating a second, empty one; when a whole folder was renamed, the folder entry follows. A match is only made when it is unambiguous and the file is unchanged. New files with the same content as a model already in the catalog are listed separately, not ticked by default. Every entry in the dialog now has its own checkbox.
  • Folders: Folders that no longer exist on disk are marked in the folder tree and listed by the sync with disk. They are only reported; "Remove missing files from the catalog" then also removes the folder entry together with its missing models (into the app trash).
  • Moving models: Several models can be moved at once, by dragging a selected card (all selected cards travel along, the folder shows the count) or with "Move to …" (selection bar, context menu or key M). The notice names the folder and says which files were skipped or failed.
  • Undo: Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on macOS) or the "Undo" button takes back moving models, moving folders and renaming folders, several steps in a row, as long as the app is running.
  • Companion files: add pictures, PDFs and text files to a model, show them and open them (pictures as thumbnails with an enlarged view, PDF and text with the default program). Archive imports assign them to their model automatically. They live in a folder Name_extras next to the model and go to the trash together with the model. Companion files removed by mistake can be restored from the notice or from the "Removed" list of the model for 7 days.
  • Sync with disk on start: optional setting that checks the catalog folders at start and shows a notice only when something changed; a second option adds new files and detected renames without asking (never removes anything, never adds duplicates).
  • Detail page: a 3MF without slicer data now explains why no filament usage is shown and how to export a sliced plate, with a link to the manual.
  • Print bed: the detail view lists, for every printer of the Printer Manager that has a build volume, whether the model fits (width and depth may swap when the model is turned on the plate; the height stays). A new filter "Fits on" in the filter bar shows only models that fit the chosen printer; models without known size stay visible.
  • Material Manager: equal spools are grouped into one card with the count, total rest and total target amount; a click shows the single spools, each with its own bar. Spools in a printer form a group per unit (for example "X1C · AMS 1"). Cards are sorted by remaining share, lowest first. A switch "Grouped / Single" (grouped by default, remembered) applies to the dashboard and the list; the header also shows the number of different kinds.
  • Material Manager: multi-color spools: up to four colors per spool, shown as a split color dot. The first color is used to match the slicer colors.
  • Material Manager: a new spool starts with the weight last used for the same manufacturer and material (otherwise the manufacturer, otherwise 1000 g); the field stays editable. When loading from the shelf into a printer or deducting resin by hand, the spool with the smallest rest that still suffices is suggested.
  • Block automatic tags: for a tag the app would assign to the model by itself, the ✕ in the detail view offers "Remove and do not assign automatically again". The tag is then no longer assigned automatically on new imports and syncs, in every language and regardless of upper or lower case; you can still add it by hand. Settings → Catalog lists all blocked tags under "Blocked automatic tags", and each block can be lifted with "Lift block".

Fixed

  • Search field and all other inputs: no more system focus frame (blue on macOS, black on Windows) inside or instead of the app's own highlight; this now includes tag entry, date and note on the detail page.
  • Import menu: the explanations of "Folder contents…" and "Check source folders" no longer appear a second time as a browser tooltip; the panel in the menu shows both.
  • Companion files in the container: "Open" now explains that the file cannot be opened inside the container and to open it on the Docker host.
  • Folders: renaming or moving a folder now also carries files whose catalog entry is not assigned to that folder, and trashed entries below it, so they no longer point to a path that does not exist any more. If a new path is already taken by another entry, the rename or move is cancelled and nothing is changed.
  • Sync with disk: Sync with disk no longer offers a file again as new when the catalog knows it under a symbolic-link path.
  • 3D preview: colors of Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and MakerWorld projects are now shown, with "File colors / Single color" and t...

v0.17.0-10 — Release Candidate 3 / Vorab-Version 3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 08:27

⚠️ Release candidate – back up your catalog first / Vorab-Version – bitte zuerst den Katalog sichern

English

This is a pre-release of 3MF Katalog Manager 0.17.0 (release candidate 3). The stable download stays 0.16.3 on https://3mfkatalog.de.

  • Back up first: Settings → Catalog → "Export catalog". The new version converts your catalog (schema 52); an older version can no longer read it. The app also saves a copy to update-backups (named …vor-Schema-Migration_…db). Going back to 0.16.3 is only possible with that backup.
  • It uses your real catalog (same app identifier as the stable version).
  • Not code-signed: Windows SmartScreen / your antivirus and macOS Gatekeeper warn on first launch. Windows: "More info" → "Run anyway" (Edge: "Keep" → "Keep anyway"). macOS: right-click the app → Open.
  • Update channel: Settings → Info → "Receive pre-releases (release candidates)". Switch it off to stay on stable.
  • New since RC 2 (0.17.0-9):
    • Sync with disk: "Select all" and "None" for the lists of new files and copies. Files skipped because their path is still held by the trash are counted in a notice (restore them or empty the trash, then sync again).
    • Automatic tags: new switch "Assign tags automatically" (Settings → Catalog, on by default). When it is off, import, folder sync and source folders assign no tags by themselves; adding tags by hand keeps working.
    • Error messages: the most common error messages (folders, moving and renaming models, source folders, removing models from the catalog, restoring a backup) now appear in the selected language instead of always in German.
    • A used library was updated to a fixed version.
  • New in 0.17.0 (selection):
    • Folders and moving: rename and delete folders (disk and catalog stay in sync), move several models at once, undo with Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z.
    • Sync with disk: recognises renamed or moved files by their content, optional check at start, source folders such as Downloads with "move into the catalog".
    • Detail page and import: companion files (pictures, PDFs, text), Makerworld platform and IDs, a clear hint when a 3MF has no slicer data, "Recently added" after an import, duplicates now name the catalog file they match.
    • 3D preview: colors of Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and MakerWorld projects (filaments per part and painted areas) with the "File colors / Single color" switch and a legend.
    • Material Manager: equal spools grouped into one card, multi-color spools, smarter start weights. Print bed: the detail view shows which of your printers the model fits.
    • Tags and selection bar: block an automatic tag for good, more tags in the app language, a clearer selection bar, settings in the right-hand panel, better screen reader support.
  • Please check in particular: the new "Select all" in the sync with disk, the switch for automatic tags, error messages in your language (not German, no raw codes), and 3D preview colors with your own Bambu/Orca/MakerWorld files (macOS: not verified on a real Mac yet).

Please report problems via Settings → Info → "Report a bug" or on GitHub.

Dies ist eine Vorab-Version von 3MF Katalog Manager 0.17.0 (Release Candidate 3). Der normale Download bleibt 0.16.3 auf https://3mfkatalog.de.

  • Vorher sichern: Einstellungen → Katalog → „Katalog exportieren“.
  • Update-Kanal: Einstellungen → Info → „Vorab-Versionen (Release Candidates) erhalten“. Ausschalten, um bei stabilen Versionen zu bleiben.
  • Neu seit RC 2 (0.17.0-9):
    • Automatische Tags: neuer Schalter „Tags automatisch vergeben“ (Einstellungen → Katalog, standardmäßig an).
  • Neu in 0.17.0 (Auswahl):

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 12:15

3MF Katalog Manager demo

Highlights

  • Material Manager: the view is remembered — "Dashboard" or "List" is kept when you switch to the catalog and back, and after a restart.
  • Tag suggestions — long tags wrap so the highlight spans the whole list, and the empty list no longer stops after 200 tags.
  • Your own manufacturers as suggestions — manufacturers you typed into a spool show up in the suggestion list from then on (filament and resin kept apart).
  • Sync with disk — file path and catalog folder now sit on separate, labeled lines ("File" / "Catalog folder").
  • Long tags — very long tags are shortened in the display (29 characters plus “…”) instead of running out of their chip; the full tag is in the tooltip.

Who should update?

Everyone who uses the Material Manager, long tag lists or the sync with the disk. These are small improvements; there is no other change.

All changes

Fixed

  • Material Manager: the chosen view ("Dashboard" or "List") is now kept when you switch to the catalog and back.
  • Tag suggestion list: long tags now wrap, so the highlight spans the full width of the list instead of showing a horizontal scroll bar. The empty list no longer stops after 200 tags.
  • Material Manager, manufacturers: manufacturers you typed yourself now appear in the suggestion list for new and edited spools (filament and resin kept apart).
  • Sync with disk: each entry now shows the file path and the catalog folder on separate, labeled lines ("File" / "Catalog folder"), so they are no longer read as one split path.
  • Long tags: very long tags no longer run out of their chip in the detail panel, detail page, list and sidebar. The display is cut after 29 characters with “…”; the full tag shows as a tooltip and is stored unchanged.

Highlights (Deutsch)

v0.16.2 — Start-menu logo on KDE Plasma (Linux) / Startmenü-Logo unter KDE Plasma (Linux)

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Oct 19:04

3MF Katalog Manager demo

Highlights

  • Linux: start-menu logo — the start-menu entry of the AppImage now shows the app logo on KDE Plasma (before, some launchers showed a blank page).
  • Existing entries from 0.16.1 are updated automatically at the next start. Windows and macOS are unchanged.

Who should update?

Linux AppImage users who enabled the start-menu entry in 0.16.1, mainly on KDE Plasma. Everyone else can skip this small release; there is no other change. The catalog database is not converted, and the app still saves a copy to update-backups before an update.

Known limitations

All changes

Fixed

  • Linux AppImage: the start-menu entry now shows the app logo on KDE Plasma (the launcher file points at the icon file directly instead of a theme icon name); existing entries are updated on the next start.

Highlights (Deutsch)
