jobleft 0.1.7
Same as 0.1.6, plus usage counts for publik: "app opened" at each start and "active session" every 30 minutes.
A count holds the app version, the system, the CPU type and a random install ID. When publik is connected, it also carries this computer's publik key. No content is sent.
Turn it off with DO_NOT_TRACK=1 (see "Usage counts" in the README). Settings > About > "What leaves this computer" lists it.

jobleft 0.1.6
jobleft 0.1.6
This release puts publik at the front. A new person can now see how to run AI in jobleft, and can set it up with one press.
One press connects publik. Press "Connect publik" once. jobleft connects this computer and opens the publikhq.com page where you link it to your account. There is no box to tick: the short note about what goes to publik is next to the button.
jobleft waits for the link. Until you link this computer on publikhq.com, the top bar, the job list card and the setup checklist say "Finish linking on publikhq.com". A button opens the page again. jobleft checks for the link by itself, also after a restart. When the link is done, AI is ready and the checklist step is done.
A clear first screen.
- Before AI is set up, the top bar shows a green "Connect publik" button. Before, it showed a grey "AI: not set up".
- The job list shows a card: "AI runs on publik API. No key needed." It has one "Connect publik" button and a small link to use your own key or a model on this computer.
- The first setup step says that jobleft runs its AI on publik API, with no key needed.
- The setup checklist step reads "Connect publik for AI (no key needed)".
Messages point to the right place. When AI is not set up, the message draft, paid web lookups and error messages now say "Connect publik in Settings > Balance".
Balance. If jobleft cannot load your publik balance, it says "Could not load your publik balance" with a "Try again" button.
Own key and local model. These still work as before. The top bar shows "AI: your own key" or "AI: model on this computer".

jobleft 0.1.5
jobleft 0.1.5
This release fixes the problems that the 0.1.4 test found.
Tailor your resume works with publik. On publik-balanced, the AI thinks before it answers. In 0.1.4 the thinking used up the space for the answer, so the step was cut short 3 times in 4 and still cost money. jobleft now asks for short thinking and gives the step more room. In a live test, 6 of 6 tailoring steps worked. Cover letters, message drafts and practice feedback also ask for short thinking.
Costs show the real amount. A small charge now shows tenths of a cent, for example "$0.017". Before, jobleft rounded it down to "$0.01".
First start. A new install always starts with setup. Before, a profile saved early could skip it.
Windows wording. Windows no longer shows "macOS Keychain" or other Mac words. Settings says where your keys are kept on this computer.
Jobs.
- The first list of jobs no longer changes right after it appears. jobleft waits for your starting filters.
- A job card and its detail page use the same words for a fact that the posting does not state.
- "Refresh now" on an empty job list says what happened, also when there are no boards to read yet.
- The People screen shows companies that you added a moment ago.
Profile. jobleft refuses a country code that is not a real country.
Polite crawling. When the computer is busy, two requests to one site no longer go out together. The gap of at least 1 second per site stays.

jobleft 0.1.4
jobleft 0.1.4
This release fixes "linked to publik, but the plan is never used" on Windows.
Windows: the publik connection survives a restart. Until 0.1.3, jobleft on Windows kept the publik key in memory only. Each quit, reboot or update lost the key, and the next "Connect" made a new, unlinked install with a $0.00 balance. jobleft now keeps the key in an encrypted file (AES-256-GCM) in its data folder. "Delete all data" removes that file. Backups never carry it. On macOS the key stays in the Keychain, as before.
Both systems: a link made on publikhq.com shows up without a click. After you link this computer on publikhq.com, the Balance screen reads your balance again by itself (every 5 s for up to 3 minutes while the computer is not linked yet). The button says "Link this computer" until the link is done.
Windows start: the local service starts with no console window, and jobleft waits up to 60 s for a first start (it was 15 s).
If you used 0.1.3 on Windows: after the update, click "Connect" one more time and link this computer once. After that, the connection stays.

jobleft 0.1.3
jobleft 0.1.3
The first release after a black-box test campaign: seven independent testers used every screen of 0.1.2 without seeing the code and wrote 170 findings; three more verified the fixes. Almost all of them are fixed here, on macOS and, for the first time, Windows.
Windows: jobleft_0.1.3_x64-setup.exe (attached by the Windows build once it finishes) installs per user; the app quits cleanly through its own shutdown route; alerts are toasts. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows shows its usual warning the first time.
Jobs: filters now combine on Apply; a country filter matches the job's own places; hidden jobs stay hidden after a reload and are not counted; "Top Matched" is one order across every page; years, level and pay come only from the posting's requirement sentences (a sales quota is not pay; "five years running" is not experience); "Software Engineering" finds software engineers; unknown facts say "not stated"; add-by-link refuses local addresses and non-postings.
Resume: an uploaded resume keeps its own content and is never rewritten by a profile save; your edits and uploads always save; PDF and Word exports render what the editor shows (the original file is a separate download); "Update my profile" lists every change; the cover-letter fact check names invented claims and allows the employer's name.
Tracker: a job never vanishes with its notes and reminders; every stage records an applied date; reminders on liked jobs appear on the Dashboard and in Alerts with an "Overdue" mark; skills are only the ones the posting asks for; one wording for visa sponsorship; saved filters keep their search words; the balance chip shows the balance publik reports.
Onboarding and profile: every step is saved as you type and survives a quit; the AI cards lead to the setup they promise; "Your own key" is offered; city choices show their state; match reasons follow the chosen city and radius; plain validation messages.
Network, Interview, Assistant: the assistant's proposal stays until you decide; practice answers survive a reload; "Export all my data" includes conversations and practice; companies are matched across legal suffixes (Meta Platforms, Inc.) without false matches (Stripe Press); follow-ups have Done and overdue marks; the daily publik limit is explained.
Settings and safety: a key typed for one provider never goes to another; disconnect then connect resumes the same publik balance; "Delete my data" keeps crawled jobs and says so; add a board by URL works for Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby; backups carry no publik identity; request bursts never hang the server.
Extension: pairing is bound to one app port (typed next to the code); Undo restores every fill; resumes built in the app can be attached; offline drafts are honest frames.
jobleft 0.1.2
macOS 14+, Apple silicon. Signed with a Developer ID, notarized and stapled.
- Level and years filters now use the facts the cards show (a posting can be entry and mid; years required is the stated minimum). An audit against 11,893 stored jobs finds every filter exact.
- Recommended shows at most 3 jobs of one employer in every 20 results.
- A fresh install starts from 120 employer boards (curated across health care, education, retail, finance, operations, sales and software, then the directory) instead of 40.
- Onboarding and Settings say plainly that small local models tailor and answer worse, and link to the plans.
