Choose a tag to compare

@Bretteroo Bretteroo released this 06 Nov 00:54
  • Four new filters:
    • Sinkhole hides "let that sink in".
    • Lie Detector hides "honest review".
    • Teachable Moment hides "here's what I learned" posts.
    • Your Welcome hides "your" where "you're" belongs.
  • Works in Firefox for Android.
  • On phones, tapping a "Caught by" line shows what the filters do.
  • Search results no longer jump into place at the end of Peek.
  • The toolbar's status lines are reworded to match the README.

Install

  • Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi: install from the Chrome Web Store. To load it by hand instead, unzip sheddit-1.1.0-chrome.zip, open the browser's extensions page, turn on Developer mode, click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder.
  • Firefox: sheddit-1.1.0-firefox.xpi. Mozilla hasn't signed it yet, so load it from about:debugging, which removes it when Firefox restarts. Or use Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.

  • Fixes a horizontal scrollbar that briefly appeared in the settings when checking "Enable all filters" in Brave, Chrome and other Chromium browsers.

Install

  • Firefox: sheddit-1.0.3-firefox.xpi. It isn't signed by Mozilla yet, so load it from about:debugging (it's removed when Firefox restarts), or use Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.
  • Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi: unzip sheddit-1.0.3-chrome.zip, open the browser's extensions page, turn on Developer mode, click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder.

@Bretteroo Bretteroo released this 04 Nov 22:53
  • Firefox for Android. Sheddit is now tested on Firefox for Android. The popup and settings fit the phone screen, and comment bars have room for their text at phone width.
  • Follows Reddit's theme. The overlay's light or dark colors now match Reddit's own light/dark setting instead of your device's, and switch along with it.

Install

  • Firefox: sheddit-1.0.2-firefox.xpi. It isn't signed by Mozilla yet, so load it from about:debugging (it's removed when Firefox restarts), or use Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.
  • Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi: unzip sheddit-1.0.2-chrome.zip, open the browser's extensions page, turn on Developer mode, click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder.

Sheddit 1.0.1

@Bretteroo Bretteroo released this 04 Nov 22:17

A small maintenance release.

  • Sheddit now requires Firefox 142 or newer. The manifest's data-collection declaration needs Firefox 140 on desktop and 142 on Android, and this clears the add-on validator's warnings for the Firefox Add-ons store.
  • Fixes a typo in the README.

Install

  • Firefox: sheddit-1.0.1-firefox.xpi. It isn't signed by Mozilla yet, so load it from about:debugging (it's removed when Firefox restarts), or use Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.
  • Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi: unzip sheddit-1.0.1-chrome.zip, open the browser's extensions page, turn on Developer mode, click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder.

@Bretteroo Bretteroo released this 04 Nov 21:56

The first release of Sheddit. It hides Reddit's most repetitive posting habits, one trope at a time.

  • 17 filters for phrases and habits like "genuinely curious", "witaf", "not a good look", "Class action lawsuit, anyone?", all-lowercase writing, ALL CAPS titles, walls of text, and posts that are just a YouTube link. Every filter checks posts and comments.
  • Remove or cover. Matches either disappear, or fold into a slim gold bar naming the filter that caught them. Peek reveals one, and Hide again folds it back. A caught thread's own post always stays under the bar, so you never land on an empty page.
  • Toolbar popup showing what Sheddit caught on the current tab, by filter, plus your totals for the last 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. The history stays in your browser.
  • Settings to turn each filter on or off, or all of them at once.
  • Works on www.reddit.com, old.reddit.com and Reddit's phone layout, in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave and Vivaldi.

Install

  • Firefox: sheddit-1.0.0-firefox.xpi. It isn't signed by Mozilla yet, so load it from about:debugging (it's removed when Firefox restarts), or use Firefox Developer Edition or Nightly with xpinstall.signatures.required set to false.
  • Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi: unzip sheddit-1.0.0-chrome.zip, open the browser's extensions page, turn on Developer mode, click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder.
