v3.0.0-beta.4
CricketStream 3.0 beta 4 — more from the ground
More of the match on the stream. A second camera now gives side-on wicket replays and
the walk out to the middle. In a rain delay, viewers see the rain radar and when it should
be dry. The stream celebrates club milestones, and the match video gets its own thumbnail
and a highlights video by the evening.

Already on an earlier beta? The app offers the update itself: one click, and it checks the
new version before replacing anything.
What's new
- Try it with a practice match. Starting match day now asks "How is today's match being
scored?" with a third answer: A practice match. OBS opens as usual and a made-up
match plays through the scorebar, replays and graphics, so you can check the whole set-up
with no scorer. It's paced like real cricket, so each replay plays out before the next ball. - A QR code for the scorer's phone. Start match day for scoring by hand and a QR code
for the scoring page comes up, on the laptop and on the clubhouse screen. Scan it and
close it; Scoring link brings it back. - The clubhouse screen updates itself. Each time the Pi starts it installs a newer
release if there is one, checked against the release's checksum first. A screen on beta 3
needs updating by hand once (runinstall-pi.shagain, see CLUBHOUSE_SCREEN.md); after
that, a restart is enough. - More from a second camera (optional; nothing changes with one camera): a wicket
replays from camera 2 as well ("Side-on"; needs FFmpeg), camera 2 shows the new batter
walking out and the teams walking off, and the over-change cut holds it as long as you set. - Rain radar. In a rain delay, the last hour of rain around the ground and when it
should be dry; before play or at a break when rain's forecast; and a warning strap half
an hour before rain arrives. Free services, no key. - Club milestones. A strap when a home player passes 500, 1,000… runs or 50, 100…
wickets for the club, or makes a first fifty, a hundred or a five-for — added up from
every past PlayCricket scorecard of the club's sides. - Season leaders in the pre-match and break shows: the club's top three run-scorers and
wicket-takers this season. - A thumbnail on the match video (both badges, the teams, the result), and a
highlights video uploaded after the match from its replays. - Fixed: with manual scoring, the first ball could take up to 20 seconds to reach the
scorebar. - Fixed: finishing from the clubhouse screen left OBS's update check switched off.
The clubhouse screen was tested end to end on a real Raspberry Pi for this beta: pairing,
starting match day, the score and stream picture, and Finish.

v3.0.0-beta.3
CricketStream 3.0 beta 3 — a show around the cricket
The stream has something on it when there's no cricket. Before play there's a
countdown, the head to head and both teams' XIs. At drinks, the innings break or a rain
delay there's a break show with the best replays so far. After the stream the YouTube
video gets chapters for every wicket and milestone. Drinks breaks, which never really
showed, now work.

Already on beta 1 or 2? The app offers the update itself: one click, and it checks the new
version before replacing anything.
What's new
- A pre-match show. Go live before play and viewers see a countdown to the start
("Play starts at 13:00 · in 25 min"), the head to head with today's opposition, both
teams' XIs from PlayCricket, and the ground's weather until the first ball. - Head to head. The record of today's two teams over their last five meetings, and how
the last one went. In the pre-match show, or any time from On-screen extras → Show
head-to-head. - The break show, and drinks that work. At drinks, the innings break, or a break you
start from the control panel (Breaks → Rain delay / Break in play), the stream shows
where the match stands, the scorecard and the weather, and replays the match's best
moments so far. It cuts back the moment play restarts. - Chapters on the match video. After the stream, the YouTube video gets a chapter for
each innings, wicket, fifty, hundred and five-for, so viewers can jump straight to them. - Alerts on Discord. The match-day alerts (the scorer's feed going quiet, OBS crashing,
the stream stopping) can go to a Discord channel, so whoever's at the ground hears about
them on their phone. - Clubhouse screen: a ready-made Raspberry Pi image, pairing with one press on the
laptop instead of typing a key, and score-only screens for the bar or the pavilion. - Fixed: the league table graphic had no background.

v3.0.0-beta.2
CricketStream 3.0 beta 2 — for grounds with poor internet
Auto quality now works, and steps back up. The stream quality ladder in beta 1 didn't
reach OBS's encoder on match day, so a step down restarted the stream and changed nothing,
and it never stepped back up. Both are fixed, and tested against a real OBS on a throttled
line. Updating is recommended for every club, especially if your ground's internet comes
and goes.

| Linux | CricketStream-linux (for a scorer's agent or bridge) |
Already on beta 1? The app offers the update itself: one click, and it checks the new
version before replacing anything.
What's new
- Auto quality that really changes the quality. When the line struggles, the stream
steps down, to 480p at the lowest step. Once the line has been clean for 10 minutes, it
climbs back one step at a time, only at a break in play and never during a replay. The
Stream quality card shows what OBS is really sending. Auto mode is off by default:
switch on Auto quality scaling in the Stream quality card, and stream with a stream
key (with OBS signed in to YouTube, a quality change ends the broadcast). The pre-match
check suggests it when your upload is tight. - Keeps going when things go wrong.
- If the server freezes, it's restarted, and auto quality carries on from the step it
was on. - If OBS opened before the server was ready, its scorebar page is reloaded.
- If OBS is slow to come back after a crash, CricketStream waits for it.
- Last match's score stays off air until the scorer starts.
- A replay asked for while the replay buffer is stopped is skipped, rather than showing
the previous clip, and the buffer is started for the next one.
- If the server freezes, it's restarted, and auto quality carries on from the step it
- Mac: the scorebar no longer goes missing when AirPlay Receiver is left on.
- Clubhouse screen (optional): a touch screen in the clubhouse showing the score,
scorecard, overs and league table, which can switch the streaming laptop on and off. - Test the camera cut before a match, and the CPU warning now works on Windows.

v3.0.0-beta.1
🎉 CricketStream 3.0 (beta)
The biggest update yet — CricketStream rewritten from the ground up as a single app.
No Python, no installer, no command windows: download one file, double-click it, and it
sets itself up.
Download
| Windows | CricketStream.exe (Arm laptops: CricketStream-arm64.exe) |
| Mac | CricketStream-mac.zip — Apple Silicon and Intel |
| Linux | CricketStream-linux — for a scorer's agent or bridge on a spare machine |
Put it in a folder of its own and double-click it. It asks which computer this is — the
streaming laptop or the scorer's — and walks you through the rest.
What's new
- One file, its own window. Setup with a live preview of your stream in your colours,
then a match-day screen, with the control panel in the same window, already signed in. - Seven scorebar styles. New Franchise, Neon and Block looks inspired by the
big T20 leagues — and the wicket cards, over summaries and scorecard match the style. - Pictures, built in. Badges, player photos, sponsor logos and match photos are added
from the control panel's Pictures tab, from the laptop or a phone. - Finds your kit. Discovers the club's IP cameras, installs OBS if it's missing, and
pairs the scorer's laptop with a short code where the club wifi blocks the automatic search. - Keeps an eye out. A pre-match check of every login and connection on the first screen,
and Windows notifications if the scorer's feed goes quiet or OBS crashes mid-match. - Updates itself. One click installs a new version, checked before it replaces
anything. Settings → Export moves the whole club setup to another laptop in one file. - A control panel that's yours. The club's badge and name at the top, and tiles you can
drag into your own order.
Everything the graphics did in v2.12 still works the same — the overlay, replays, AI
commentary, the result card and match page. The full list is in the
changelog.
It's a beta
3.0 has been tested end to end — on a clean Windows 11 machine and against a real OBS —

python branch
and its release.

v2.12 — Social clips, win predictor, match page
What's new
- Social clips. After the match, each wicket, six, four and milestone replay becomes an upright video for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok. Each one has a headline, a line about the moment, the club badge and your handle, plus a caption ready to paste. Download them from the panel, on a phone too. Needs FFmpeg.
- Live win predictor. After each over, a panel shows both teams' chances, plus "Need 26 off 24 balls" in a chase or the projected total in the first innings. It's built from how this season's matches have actually gone. Tested against 64 real matches from this season, the favourite at the start of the chase won 66% of the time.
- Automatic match page. About a minute after the stream ends, a one-page match report is made: result, result card, AI report, runs-by-over chart, both scorecards, a link to the stream and your sponsors. It's one file, ready for the club website or WhatsApp.
- AI camera spotter (optional, off by default). While live, Claude checks each camera every few minutes and warns about a fogged or wet lens, a knocked camera, glare or a blocked view. A frozen picture is caught without AI. Costs about 10–15p for a long match.
- Spoken commentary (optional, off by default). The end-of-over AI line is read aloud on the stream in the computer's own voice. It's free and works offline.
Fixed (from a full code review)
- A boundary on the last ball of an over could be replayed twice, and a boundary on the next over's first ball then missed.
- A wicket on the last ball of an over could count towards the next bowler's hat-trick instead of the bowler who took it.
- Captions' result line used the first letters of the club name instead of your abbreviation.
- Two-laptop setups: replay clips were tagged without the batter or score.
- "Copy caption" showed the red error banner on a phone using the panel over the club wifi.
Upgrading
Download CricketStream.exe (Windows) or CricketStream-mac.zip (Mac) below, or git pull. Both new optional features are switched off until you turn them on in the control panel: the AI camera spotter under Match day → Cameras, and spoken commentary under Graphics → AI commentary. Full detail is in CHANGELOG.md.
v2.11
A pre-match check that finds problems days before the match, not on the day, and camera buttons that are always visible. Full details are in CHANGELOG.md.
New: pre-match check
Control panel → Setup → Run pre-match check. Run it a few days before a match. It tries every login and connection for real, all at once, and marks each one ✓ / ⚠ / ✗ with a plain-English fix. Nothing is changed.
- Logins and keys: YouTube (the right channel, and a warning before a weekly-expiring login runs out), PlayCricket and the AI key.
- OBS: whether it's running, and any low bitrate left over from a previous match (caught even with OBS closed).
- Network and disk: upload speed against your stream bitrate, the cameras answering, and space for replays.
- Match data: today's fixture, the opposition badge, and players sharing a surname whose stats won't show until the Squad Roster has their shirt numbers.
- Other: a newer version being available, and the scorer's laptop or NV Play bridge for two-laptop setups.
It also runs by itself, shortly after the server starts and every 6 hours. If anything has a ✗, a red "✗ N problems" badge appears at the top of the panel.
Better: camera buttons always in reach
Wide and Bowler-end now sit in the bar pinned to the top of the panel, next to Save, on every tab. Before, they were in a card below the bottom of the screen on the Match day tab. They appear when a bowler-end camera is set up, and the C key still switches too.

v2.10
Sponsor viewer-minutes, a cleaner result card, and a fix for YouTube logins that quietly expire. Full details are in CHANGELOG.md.
New
- Sponsor viewer-minutes. While the stream is live and YouTube is connected, the server reads YouTube's live viewer count once a minute. The sponsor airtime line then gains an estimate, for example: "…on screen for 4 min 30 s of the live stream, across 31 appearances — an estimated 1,240 viewer-minutes".
- Only your live broadcast is counted, and a count more than 3 minutes old is never used.
- If only part of the airtime had a count, the line says so rather than scaling it up.
- It shows in the control panel and in the file saved after the match.
Fixed
- An expired YouTube login now tells you to reconnect. Google stops accepting a saved login once it's revoked, or after 7 days if your Google Cloud app is still in "Testing" mode. Before, every YouTube feature then stopped silently. Now it tells you to press Update YouTube broadcast now on the streaming laptop to sign in again. To stop the weekly expiry, set the app to In production in Google Cloud (OAuth consent screen).
- Each sponsor appears once on the Instagram result card, not as both the original logo and its transparent copy.
- "Generate test commentary" now waits for the line instead of sometimes showing "Generating..." for good.
Removed
- The per-ball AI commentary lower third. It had no switch in the control panel, and the end-of-over AI commentary panel replaced it long ago. The panel's commentary preview now shows the latest end-of-over line.

v2.9
A big one: OBS now sets itself up and recovers from crashes without anyone at the laptop. The control panel is reorganised around match day, and the post-match facts and graphics are rebuilt to be exact. Full details are in CHANGELOG.md.
OBS, hands-off
- Nothing to switch on in OBS. Quickstart turns on OBS's WebSocket server, the replay buffer, the video settings, the bitrate and a hardware encoder, then opens OBS. A brand-new OBS no longer needs restarting by hand.
- Crash and freeze recovery. If OBS crashes or freezes mid-match, it's reopened on the Main scene, and the stream restarts only if it was live. Closing OBS normally leaves it closed.
- No more modal prompts on match day. No "Run in Safe Mode?", no "New update available", and no "No Sources" question on a fresh install.
- Cameras behave. Adding a camera no longer covers the scorebar or the replay clip, and sponsor logos placed above the scorebar stay where they are.
Control panel
- Reorganised into four tabs by moment (Match day, Graphics & sponsor, After the match, Setup), with the live status and Save pinned at the top. The accent colour comes from your club's colours.
- A match-day checklist that detects each step and has a button to do it.
- Sponsors: upload the logo from the panel, make its background transparent, and see how long the strap was actually on screen while live (airtime).
After the match
- A new Instagram result card: full-colour photo, a big WIN / DEFEAT with the margin, both clubs' badges and scores, and the top batter and bowler. The result is PlayCricket's own, so DLS, conceded, tied, drawn, abandoned and softball matches all come out right.
- Exact facts that survive a server restart. The match report, social post and card use the scorer's own running figures, saved as the match goes. A restart used to wipe them, and the AI then made up a result.
Fixes
- The ball-by-ball database was missing the final ball of most overs, because NV Play keeps showing a finished over until the next ball. The match simulator now behaves the same way, so rehearsals catch problems like this.
- A match no longer splits in two if "Fetch today's match" is pressed after the first ball, or if the opposition name is corrected during play.
- "Fetch today's match" now sets the opposition to the club name rather than "1st XI".
- Also fixed: the scorebar style preview, "Show player cards" with automatic cards off, the Stream Health "Check now" button, saving settings from two places at once, and the scorer agent picking an old scoreboard folder.
Not yet tested
- A live YouTube stream from start to finish.
- Two real RTSP cameras (the two-camera setup was checked with video files).
- A Mac.
Please report anything odd.
