session-recap 0.6.0: MCP server, local viewer, dsh and Codex plugins, secret removal
Added
- MCP server (
session-recap mcp):list_sessions,recap_sessionandsave_recapfor any MCP client. With no
model of its own,recap_sessionhands the condensed, secret-free transcript to the calling agent, which writes the
recap with its own model: no API key needed.session-recap mcp-config <client>prints the entry for Claude Code,
Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI / Qwen Code, OpenCode, Zed, VS Code and Cline. - Local viewer (
session-recap serve): every agent's sessions by project, with Recap and Map, on127.0.0.1behind a
per-run token; Write recap when a model is configured. - dsh plugin (
packages/dsh, preview): thesession_recaptool and/recap, on the session's own model route.
npm run build:dshpacks the release tarball. - Codex plugin (
plugins/codex) running the MCP server; the repository is a Codex plugin marketplace. - Recap formats (
core/formats.mjs):standup,handoffandpr, through--formatand the MCP tool'sformat. - Versioned output:
schemaVersionin--jsonand the MCP tool, described byschema/recap-v1.schema.jsonand
docs/data-format.md. - Contributor guides: docs/adding-an-agent.md, a "Support a new agent" issue template, and
listing drafts in docs/listings, withserver.jsonfor the official MCP registry.
Security
- Secrets are removed from transcripts before they reach any model: private keys; Anthropic, OpenAI, GitHub, AWS,
Slack, Google, Stripe and npm tokens; JWTs; bearer tokens; credentials in URLs; and secret-named assignments, with
placeholders left alone.--dry-runand the MCP tool report how many.
Changed
- The CLI, MCP server and viewer share one recap cache and also read the Claude Code plugin's recaps.

dsh-session-recap-0.6.0.tgz (sha256 c1c14b67bfcaa809c889868d1691a4d1c0197465fa044dffcc4d30480db4ab49):
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add https://github.com/BruceXcluding/session-recap/releases/download/v0.6.0/dsh-session-recap-0.6.0.tgzsession-recap 0.5.1: a cleaner map, no guessed dates
Changed
- Map layout. Phases run down a rail with their dates right-aligned and a
phase count and span in the header; the current phase is highlighted. Decisions
are a lighter list (no boxes), open and paused ones first, with the turned-down
alternatives and the reason on one line. The Open list shows by default.
Fixed
- Dates a model guessed (after the session's last activity, or out of order) are no
longer shown; Build map tells the model when the session last ran. - A recap no longer fails when the host's clock cannot answer, and the progress timer
stops itself when its host is gone. - The simulation tests wait for a recap's background work, which made them flaky.
session-recap 0.5.0: Map view beside the text recap
Added
- Map view. A recap now has two views: Recap (the text, the default) and Map:
the work's phases in order with pivots marked down to "You are here", each key
decision with the alternatives it turned down and why, and counts of what shipped,
what is open and what was rejected, each opening its list. - The model writes the map's data with the recap, in the same call, as a fenced
json recap-mapblock after the Markdown; it is never shown as text or copied. - Build map for recaps written before maps: one small call that reads only the recap.
- CLI:
--jsoncarries the map undermap; printed Markdown leaves it out.
session-recap 0.4.1: animated recap progress
Changed
- The progress of a recap being written is animated: a spinner, a light sweeping the
bar's unfilled part (so a long step visibly runs), and the time so far. The animation
runs only while a recap is being written.
session-recap 0.4.0: model selection, a clearer Projects screen
Added
- Model selection. In the pane, a Model button picks the recap model (the
session's own, haiku, sonnet, opus) and a separate model for long sessions'
parts; the choice is kept across sessions and each recap names its model. A
Recap model plugin setting takes any model id. On the command line,
session-recap modelslists the provider's models, andconfig set/config unset
savemodel, partModel, api, baseUrlandapiKey(from stdin, file mode 600). session-recap list --all.
Changed
- Each IDE shows its own sessions first. The pane opens on Claude Code's sessions
andliston the calling agent's; All agents /--allshows every agent's.
The choice is remembered. - Projects screen: the project this session runs in is pinned on top; the rest are
grouped into Today / This week / Earlier; app-made scratch and temp folders are folded;
paths are shortened (~, middle cut); agents are colour-coded.
Fixed
- The command still registers if the host cannot report the session's folder or model.
session-recap 0.3.1: review fixes and polish
Fixed
- dsh: a migrated session is read from its newer file, not the larger pre-migration one.
- An update re-reads the last prompt the previous recap covered, so a reply that
arrived after a mid-turn recap is no longer lost. - The Claude Code plugin's store is pruned (newest 250 recaps, 100 part notes)
and old 0.2 keys are removed, so it never reaches its 4 MiB limit; part notes
are written without a shared index, so parallel parts cannot overwrite each other. - Installed skills give the CLI's full path as a fallback for agents whose tools
run without the shell's PATH. CODEX_HOME/DSH_HOMEin a shell profile no longer make the CLI think it runs
inside Codex or dsh.SESSION_RECAP_APIwithout a key or base URL no longer mixes with another
provider's endpoint and key.- OpenCode database paths with
#,?or%open correctly.
Changed
/session-recapand name lookups scan sessions once instead of three times;
session-recap listscans once instead of once per project.- Code quality: the CLI is fully typed (JSDoc, checked with
tsc --strict); Python is
linted and formatted with ruff, JavaScript with Prettier; CI runs all three. - Added CONTRIBUTING.md, SECURITY.md and .editorconfig.
session-recap 0.3.0: more agents, a CLI, fewer tokens
Added
- More agents. Sessions from Codex, dsh (deepseek-harness) and OpenCode are read
beside Claude Code's, grouped by project folder, with an agent filter in the pane. - Command-line tool
session-recap(npm install -g github:BruceXcluding/session-recap):
recap,list,projects,--dry-run,config, andinstall, which adds a
session-recap skill to Codex, OpenCode and~/.agents/skills. It calls an
Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible model you configure. - Incremental updates: a session that continued is recapped from the prompts
after its last recap, merged into that recap. - Part notes cache: condensed parts are cached by content hash.
- Optional cheaper model for condensing parts (
partModelplugin setting,
SESSION_RECAP_PART_MODEL).
Changed
- The condensed transcript keeps every prompt, the agent's last reply of each turn,
commits, pushes and PRs, and the edited files; tool calls that only read and
intermediate replies are left out. About 63% fewer input tokens on a 179 MB session. - Session listing is indexed under
~/.cache/session-recapand re-reads only
changed files.
session-recap 0.2.0
Added
- Recap page: an Intent card and a Where to resume card at the top, with
tabs (All / Decisions / Changes / Open threads) for the rest. - Progress bar while a recap is written, and an error card with Try again.
- Session list shows the first line of each recap's intent under its title,
with coloured status marks (ready / session changed since / none). /session-recap <name>opens a project by folder name, or recaps a session
by title.
Changed
- Every model call uses the session's own model, so the plugin works with any
provider the session already uses (Anthropic, Bedrock, Vertex, gateways).
Fixed
- A recap no longer shows as out of date when only the file timestamp's
precision differs. - A project whose newest session started in another folder is listed under its
own folder name. - An old error no longer stays on screen after a recap succeeds.
