v0.1.0-beta.1
First beta of Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest: Recompiled, a native PC port of the N64 game built with N64Recomp and RT64.
You need your own ROM of Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest (USA). None is included. The launcher asks for it the first time you press Start Game, and checks it.
This is a pre-release: expect bugs, and please report them in the issues.
Download
SlugfestRecompiled-0.1.0-beta.1-x86_64.AppImage: Linux x86_64, including the Steam Deck (needs glibc 2.35 or newer).
Steam Deck
- In Desktop Mode, download the AppImage.
- Right-click it, Properties, Permissions, tick "Is executable".
- Run it and pick your ROM when asked.
- To play from Gaming Mode, right-click the AppImage and choose "Add to Steam".
Saves and settings are stored in ~/.config/SlugfestRecompiled/.
What works
- Intro, menus, create-a-player, attract mode, Exhibition games and Home Run Derby, with audio, controller support and FlashRAM saves
- Original 30 fps game speed, with optional smoother motion (Refresh Rate: Display)
- Higher resolutions (Original 2x, Auto) and downsampling
- Widescreen (Aspect Ratio: Expand) in 3D scenes: the view widens and the HUD moves to the screen edges (HUD Placement setting). Menus and the title stay 4:3.
Known issues
- Season mode and some other modes haven't been tested much.
- The HUD in widescreen is placed automatically and may not be right everywhere (untested: pause menu, replays).
- Linux only for now.
