What’s new
A new setup wizard. Setup now reads your PC and helps you pick:

Her language first. English, Español, Português, Français, Русский, Italiano, Deutsch, Polski, or Auto. Her menu, her chat and her ears all use it from the first start.
Your PC page. It shows your graphics card, VRAM, RAM and CPU, and suggests the brain that runs well on it.
Light PCs get an honest answer. If your PC is too light for a local brain, setup says so: she works great as a desktop companion (a desktop pet) that roams, peeks, sits on your windows, opens apps, plays music and sets timers. You can still give her a brain anyway if you want, or use Claude Code as her brain later.
Updating keeps everything. Run the new setup over your old Capri and pick Keep what she has now: your brain, ears, memory and settings stay, and nothing big downloads again.
Her ears are picked for your CPU too: Small on strong CPUs, Base on smaller ones.
Her mini form, redrawn. Go mini (right-click → Go mini, or say “go mini”) and she becomes her new little self, drawn by xilia_world00. She:

blinks, and looks left or right toward your cursor
moves her mouth when she talks
gets annoyed if you poke her 3 times
glitches while her brain is thinking
Single-click her to chat, double-click for full size. Always mini (in Settings) keeps her small, also after a restart. That’s great for gaming.

Mini chat box. In mini she has her own compact chat box. It sits right beside her, level with her eyes, on her right, or on her left when there’s no room.

She lies down. A new full-size lying pose: she stretches out on your taskbar or on top of the window she’s sitting on, dozes off, and gets up again. She does it by herself when nobody’s talked to her for a while, or when you say “lie down”. Turn it off in Settings → Lie down sometimes. She rides along when you move that window.

Pick her language once. On first start (and in setup) she asks which language to talk in. Her menu, her chat and her ears all stick to it. Change it any time: Settings → Language.

A real look at your screen. “What do you see?” now reads straight off your PC:

the app in front
its window title and page or tab name
its biggest headings (playlist, page or video names)
the text on it
So she says “you’re in your Liked Songs in Spotify” instead of guessing. Windows OCR now reads small UI text more sharply.

Steam games. She knows every game in your Steam libraries:

“open Peak on Steam”, “play Rhythia on Steam” or “launch VRChat” starts the game through Steam.
A game you don’t have opens its Steam store page. It’s never a Google search.
“open …” also works in her other languages: öffne, abre, ouvre, открой, apri, otwórz…
Low battery. On a laptop, unplugged at 20% or less: she goes mini to save power and tells you to plug in. She warns again at 10%, and comes back to full size when you plug in.

Best brain for your PC. Setup and her Brain menu read your PC (RAM, graphics card and VRAM) and mark the brain that runs well on it (“★ best for your PC”):

Nemotron (with eyes) on a 6 GB+ graphics card
CapriAI2 on a 4–5 GB graphics card, or on the CPU for laptops without a big graphics card
No local brain on very light PCs: she’s a desktop companion there, and Claude Code can still be her brain
Claude Code talks shorter. With Claude Code as her brain (and in smart mode) she now answers in a line or two, like a real speech bubble, unless you ask for details. After a job she just says what she did. That saves a lot of your Claude tokens, so you can use her longer.

A shorter menu.

Main menu: Talk, Go mini, Wander around, Ears, Skins, Size, Brain, Settings, Quit.
Settings: all the switches (vibe to music, watch my screen, chatter, react to things, game mode, leave me alone, always mini, lie down sometimes), plus Memory, Language and Credits.
In mini mode her menu opens in a smaller door right next to her.
New goodbye in mini. Quitting while she’s mini now plays the full outro: she streams up into the screen at the top right and switches off. The old blink-out is gone.

Fixes
One tick per menu. Size, Brain and now Mic (Ears → Mic) all work the same way: you can only have one picked. Before, you could tick several sizes, brains or mics at once and the menu showed all of them ticked.
Size and Brain can’t be spammed. Picking a second size while she’s still resizing is ignored. While a brain is swapping, every brain row is locked until it’s done.
No more language mix-ups. “hey capri” no longer gets answered in Spanish. Her code decides the language of each reply (your pick, or what you’ve been talking in) instead of guessing from two words. Her ears do the same: a short or unclear line no longer comes back as Spanish.
Her ears hear all eight languages by default (Small, multilingual). If you’re on the old English-only ears and pick another language, she tells you how to switch.
No more fake update notifications. 0.5.7 kept saying “there’s a new update: 0.5.7” because the app inside still thought it was 0.5.4. She now knows her real version and only tells you about a release that is actually newer.
Linux: her brain loads after --setup. On Arch / CachyOS / Kali, setup saved a config without the llama-server backend, so she said “My brain chip won’t slot in” and ran without AI. Fixed, and configs that already have the problem now work without editing anything.
Her chat box, menu door and mini form follow her size right away. No restart needed.
Changing size while she’s mini or lying down no longer breaks her art.
Her mini form never shows the lying art. Lying is a full-size pose.
Discord DMs and other private windows stay private. She won’t read them when you ask what she sees.
“open …” never turns into a Google search for a whole sentence.

Install (Windows)
Download Capri-Setup.exe below and run it. Pick her language, check what your PC can run, pick her brain and ears, and she drops onto your desktop.

If SmartScreen says “Windows protected your PC”: click More info → Run anyway. It scans clean: 0 / 68 on VirusTotal.

Already have Capri? Run the new setup over it. Your settings, memory and downloaded brains stay.
