Textus v1.3.4
What's new
Textus 1.3.4 lets Research mode write more than papers - in-depth reports, analyses, articles, threads and news briefs - from your own files too, and turns Create into a chat of its own in Settings › Extensions, where Textus AI makes themes, plugins and skills.
New
- Research mode writes the kind of piece you ask for: an academic paper, a literature review, an in-depth report, an analysis, an article, a thread or a news brief, each researched, outlined and written as that kind is. Type / to pick one, or let Textus AI choose from the topic.
- Research mode takes files like the other modes: attach them with + or @, and its research reads them first and cites them by name.
- Create in Settings › Extensions makes themes, plugins and skills with Textus AI, in a chat of its own that searches and thinks as it goes. Start from an example or type / to say what to make, then install, try and change it without leaving the page. Themes, Plugins and Skills each have a Make your own button that opens it.
Improved
- Research mode starts in an untitled document, with no project folder: the paper's research is kept in a temporary folder and moves into the document's project folder once you save it there.
- Research mode no longer pauses a paper after 120 model calls; it writes on until the paper is done or you pause it.
- Research mode writes as your writing instructions (agent.md), what Textus AI remembers, your style profile and your library ask, as the other modes do.
- A plugin Textus AI writes shows its likely problems on its install card - code that can't draw on the page, a permission it never asked for - and the first error it hits once installed, with Fix with AI. The check asks for the same permissions Textus enforces when the plugin runs.
- Each plugin has one place in the window bar: a plugin with several readouts or commands shows one, and a click opens all of them under its name.
- The three modes say what each is for: everyday writing and edits, a review with suggested changes, and in-depth research written up.
- Settings › Editor & Appearance is easier to scan: text size, spacing and width under Text & Layout; the editing view as one choice (rich text, source, or both side by side) with Typewriter and Zen under View; Track My Changes and Read Only under This Document.
Fixed
- Plugins that keep data for the open folder work with no folder open, keeping it in a hidden folder of Textus's own, and plugins Textus AI makes no longer fail with "No folder is open." or try to draw on the page, where nothing showed. A known problem in a plugin's command is said in your language.
- The model switcher no longer lists Ollama with no model under it, or a model picked there once and since removed.
- Stepping to an AI edit or review note inside a folded
<details>you had closed again opens it. - The buttons under a reply's memory and skill cards look like the panel's links again, and a skill's modes menu opens whole beside its button.
- Vim: dd deletes an empty quote's line, quote and all, and V with j, or 3dd, goes on down a list's items instead of stopping at the first.
Installers for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux (x64 and ARM64) are below; the app updates itself.
