What's new

Textus 1.3.6 lets plugins float a small view over your writing - first of all the Desk Pet, Moyu or the LLM-chan of your model keeping you company - edits an HTML table's words where they're drawn, shows READMEs as GitHub does, and can make the title bar glass.

New

  • The Desk Pet plugin, from Settings › Extensions: Moyu, Textus's mascot, or the LLM-chan of the model Textus AI is using, sits in a corner of the window or on your desktop. She writes when you type, dozes when you stop, cheers when you save, answers a poke or a pat, and always faces the middle; right-click her to switch characters.
  • Plugins can show a floating view: a small transparent page that floats over your desktop, above every window, or inside Textus's window - a desk pet, a timer. It starts in the window; drag it anywhere, resize it from its top corner, and right-click it to put it on the desktop, fold it to a dot or close it - on the desktop its menu also opens Textus or Textus AI. It opens again where you left it. A plugin can also hear that you poked, petted or moved its view, that you typed or saved, and what Textus AI is doing and with which model - never a word of your documents or conversations. A plugin can add its own items to the view's right-click menu (menus floating/context), such as switching the desk pet's character. See contributes.floatingViews, layout.openFloating, app.onDidActivity and ai.onDidChangeState in the plugin reference.
  • An HTML table or block's words are edited where they're drawn: click a cell or line and type, then Enter (or click away) writes the new words into the source between the same tags; Escape puts them back. Option-click shows the source, as before.
  • The title bar can be glass, as a macOS toolbar is, from Settings › Editor & Appearance › Theme: the document scrolls under it as colour and shape, most blurred at the top and clearing toward its edge, with no line where the glass ends.

Improved

  • A README shows as it does on GitHub: markdown inside <div align="center">, <p align> or <center> is aligned, with the tag lines out of sight until the caret is on one; a <picture> of a light and a dark logo follows Textus's theme; definition lists, figures with captions, <abbr>, <q>, <ruby>, <kbd>-style tags and the other small inline tags GitHub allows are drawn.
  • Opens a little faster on the desktop: the phone's own parts no longer load with every window.

Fixed

  • Slides the document's title with the AI panel as the panel opens and closes, instead of moving it to the page's new centre in one step.
  • Lines up a row of README badges whether or not each is a link, and keeps the zoom button and resize handle off a badge's words.

Installers for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux (x64 and ARM64) are below; the app updates itself.
