The day is now part of a eulogy's identity: a historical eulogy printed on another day than its 2004 counterpart has its own ID on that day, linked to the counterpart by same_eulogy (CatholicOS/crmedr#49, #59).

Changed

  • Deprecated IDs now return same_eulogy. /elogium/{id} gives the link in both directions, e.g. mr:1220-ammon-et-socii (1749 and 1914, 20 December) ↔ mr:0601-ammon-et-socii (2004, 1 June). Before, the link was dropped for deprecated IDs.
  • 331 placements of the 1749 and 1914 editions are re-keyed to an ID of the day they are printed on. Before, they were keyed to an ID of another day.
    • 131 are the same eulogy moved, now under a new deprecated ID linked to the 2004 one; 6 more link to a deprecated 1749 ID.
    • 63 are another saint the aligner had matched by name. They get their own deprecated ID, linked to their own 2004 eulogy where there is one (Stephen Harding, John Francis Regis, the martyrs of Ceuta, …).
    • 9 are an existing ID of the same day (Anselm of Lucca, Hilary of Arles, Landelin, Nilus, …).
    • No eulogy of either edition is now keyed to an ID of another day.

Fixed

  • 42 deprecated 1749 IDs that were the same eulogy as a current ID of the same day are merged into it, e.g. mr:0413-ursi → mr:0413-ursus (Ursus of Ravenna).
  • Two garbled 1749 IDs are re-minted. mr:0523-martyru → mr:0523-quinctianus-et-socii; the 1914 edition had keyed the same eulogy to the different mr:0523-lucius-et-socii. mr:0504-triginta-martyres-inmetallo → mr:0504-triginta-novem-martyres-phaenonis.
  • The 1914 Christmas proclamation, which the OCR had split in two, is one eulogy again: mr:1225-nativitas-domini. The 1914 edition has 3,022 eulogies.
  • Subjects: ten popes and saints whose Italian and English subject was "San Pietro" / "Saint Peter" (the place, presso san Pietro) now name the saint. mr:0410-beda is "Saint Bede the Younger", with a note: the unofficial English text reads "Peter".

The removed and renamed IDs no longer resolve; the full tables are in CRMEDR's docs/canonicalization-report.md and crmedr#49. The registry has 6,222 entries (4,640 current, 1,582 deprecated).

Requires

No new settings. Data pin: crmedr → 9fad9a6 (also CRMEDR_REF); martyrology-texts unchanged.
